Dear Brothers and Sisters of Our Lady of Mount Carmel,

We are in Week 5 of Lent. I would like to highlight two events that will occur during Holy Week in the hope that many will want to be a part of these special liturgies.

Holy Thursday is April 13. We will gather at 7:30 PM to observe once again the Last Supper of our Lord and the great gift of the Eucharist as the centerpiece of our spiritual lives. Happily, most people who attend Mass regularly also come to the table of the Lord to partake of the Body and Blood of Jesus.

On Holy Thursday we also remember and repeat the great mandatum (command) of Jesus that we be servants each of the other. Jesus showed what He meant by taking off his outer garment and bending down to wash the feet of his disciples according to the Gospel of John.

Your priests and deacons wish to do the same for everyone in the community. So, I am asking you to anticipate this opportunity and come prepared on Holy Thursday to come to the altar and allow us to wash your feet. I personally find this one of the exhilarating moments of the entire liturgy and I urge you to take this invitation literally.

On Holy Saturday, April 15 we will celebrate the great Easter Vigil and we will receive three new members into our Church family. They are Andrea Parlatore, Michael Feinstein and Max Smolovich. In addition, Julie Fill will receive Eucharist and Confirmation for the first time.

Please plan ahead to be part of these great sacramental moments. We carry on. We carry on.

Blessed Lent and happy Holy Week to come.

Sincerely yours in Christ and Our Lady of Mount Carmel,

fr. Dan [email protected]

becomes a school of forgiveness.”

“Believing in Jesus

St. John brings out the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus for our faith by using various forms of the verb ‘to believe.’ In addition to ‘believing that’ what Jesus tells us is true, John also speaks of ‘believing’ Jesus and ‘believing in’ Jesus. We ‘believe’ Jesus when we accept his word, his testimony, because he is truthful. We ‘believe in’ Jesus when we personally welcome him into our lives and journey towards him, clinging to him in love and following in his footsteps along the way.”
