In all of these efforts, the city, through its employees, elected officials, appointed officials, volunteers, and others, seeks to provide for the welfare of its citizens. The services the city provides are available to all residents and businesses. Without its citizen neighborhoods and large and small businesses, Lindon would not be what is has become today. Businesses, individuals, and families came here because they sought for or felt a connection to this area and the great heritage that we all feel. We have notable commercial corridors on State Street and near Interstate 15 and a developing corridor on 700 North out west to the interstate. These areas provide significant retail and office space for the city. We also have a vibrant industrial and manufacturing community including warehouse and office space along much of Geneva Road and west out to the interstate and beyond toward Utah Lake. These businesses provide goods and services for Lindon residents, for customers from surrounding communities, and for many others outside of our area. They make up the heart of Lindon’s sales tax base and provide a significant portion of property taxes collected for the use of all Lindon’s citizens. Many of these businesses have been here for decades and have contributed much to the culture and development of the city in the areas in which they decided to set up shop. Others are new to Lindon and are adding to the mix of great businesses that have chosen Lindon due to its location, reputation, and friendliness. As a city, we’ll continue to work to attract new businesses to this area and to support existing businesses. As we grow and as new business and residential development come, especially to the city’s west side, we’ll make efforts to integrate the needs of all groups that come here to use and enjoy the amenities provided by the city. May each of us contribute to that effort to help everyone feel welcome here in Lindon. Lindon: A Business-Friendly City and a Great Place to Live Lindon City, like other municipalities, is a political subdivision of the State of Utah and operates under its authority. The state empowers cities and towns to do several things for their citizens. Lindon City thus has the capability, and a level of responsibility, to carry out the intent of that authority given by the state related to these areas:

- Furnish local public services Examples: water, sewer, and storm drainage - Make local public improvements Examples: parks, roads, and trails - Issue and sell bonds Examples: sewer upgrades, 700 N roadway, and public safety building - Assess and collect taxes and fees

LINDON COMMUNITY CENTER

Thanks to all who attended and participated in the open house for the new Public Safety Building and Chief Cody Cullimore's retirement last Saturday. It was a well attended event with many dignitaries from both Lindon and Orem City coming out to commemorate the dedication of the building. The building houses both our Police & Fire Departments. The Orem City Firefighters and Lindon City Police Officers cooked lunch during the event and the Little Miss Lindon Royalty and contestants provided lots of fun games for the kids! Click on the links below to read the article on Chief Cullimore’s retirement and the open house. Thanks again to all and our residents who will enjoy this beautiful building for years to come!

FRIEND REQUEST POLICY We are eliminating the friend request chain. Too many people have been requesting 2-4 friends. Participants are allowed to request ONE friend to play with on the same team. Friends MUST request each other and sign up BEFORE the league deadline for the best possible chance to be placed on the same team. Friend requests are NOT GUARANTEED, but we do make our best effort to fulfill them. If the person you requested did not request your child, chances are they will not be placed on the same team. If you want to request more than one friend, please sign up as a TEAM. You do not have to fill the full roster, but you will have the responsibly of providing a coach. Check out our team registration paragraph for more information.

TEAM REGISTRATION INFORMATION To avoid confusion, coaches who want to create a team are required to fill out a team roster form at the Lindon Community Center. A digital copy is also available by e-mailing the league coordinator at [email protected]. This form will help us insure the placement of the correct players on your team. Max per team varies for each sport. Max numbers CANNOT be exceeded. Players who are listed on your team roster will be placed on your team ONLY if they register BEFORE the program deadline. Those who are listed on your roster, but miss the deadline will NOT be guaranteed a spot on your team. Must have a mixture of grades on your team, unless your grade is the younger one in the league. (In the 1st and 2nd grade league you may have a full roster of 1st graders, but not 2nd graders, etc.)

Lindon City Newsletter – March 2017

March:

Why can’t glass go in my co-mingled bin?

While glass is recyclable it must be taken to a glass drop-off container. It cannot be placed into your co-mingled bin. This is because co-mingled recycling is sorted by human hands. When glass is dropped into a recycling truck from your container it breaks and creates sharp edges that are dangerous. If you wish to recycle your glass material please take it to a drop-off location. The nearest glass container to Lindon city is behind the Pleasant Grove City office building.

If you are interested in ordering a recycling can please contact the Lindon City Utilities Clerk at 801-785-5043.
