Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

BOY SCOUTS

The Church at Litchfield Park continues as the charter organization for the Boy Scout Troop 99 here in Litchfield Park. As the charter organization, we support the troop leaders, interface with the various levels of the Boy Scouts of America organization, and provide facilities for scout and troop committee meetings. Troop 99 has approximately 79 scouts and is a very active troop helping civic activities, participating in outdoor activities such as camp-outs, and conducting fund raising events. This troop, does an excellent job of funding its activities. The church’s chartering and support of Troop 99 and its worthwhile activities is another way in which the church reaches out and supports the community. Special events and accomplishments will periodically be included in the bulletin.

CAREGIVER’S SUPPORT GROUP

Dr. Gordon Stein, who taught our Active Listening Seminars, is forming a Caregiver’s Support Group. Dr. Stein and his wife Marilyn have both experienced being long-term caregivers. The “hidden community” of those who care for a loved one with a long-term or terminal illness may be seated next to you, keeping to themselves a great fear – the fear of loss. Anyone interested in joining our first Caregiver’s Support Group is urged to call the office or to sign up in Souers Hall. Date and start time will be forthcoming.

“An Old Prayer for a New Year”

1. Ask God for light. I want to look at my day with God’s eyes, not merely my own. 2. Give thanks. The day I have just lived is a gift from God. Be grateful for it. 3. Review the day. I carefully look back on the day just completed, being guided by

the Holy Spirit. 4. Face your shortcomings. I face up to what is wrong-in my life and in me. 5. Look toward the day to come. I ask where I need God in the day to come.

- - from the “Examen” of St. Ignatius of Loyola
