“10 Years School for Wellbeing”

The School for Wellbeing Studies and Research is an

independent action-research and vision exchange platform.

The “school” was founded in 2009 by the Faculty of Political

Science, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, the Centre for

Bhutan & GNH Studies, Bhutan, and the Sathirakoses

Nagapradipa Foundation (SNF) established by Sulak Sivaraksa in

Thailand, 1968.

The School for Wellbeing, Bangkok, is the Southeast Asia campus of the Right Livelihood College.

Wongsanit Ashram

Wongsanit Ashram, situated 40 km outside Bangkok, is the shared campus of a cluster of initiatives

for transformative education under the umbrella of the Sathirakoses Nagapradipa Foundation (SNF).

Sulak Sivaraksa (Ajarn Sulak) received the Right Livelihood Award in 1995 and consequently

founded the Spirit in Education Movement (SEM). The initiative branched out to what is now

emerging as a dynamic “alternative university” associating a diversity of courses: the INEB Institute

with the Awakening Leadership Training (ALT) programme www.awakeningleadership.net and the

School of English for Engaged Social Service (SENS) http://inebinstitute.org/eng/; moreover the

School for Wellbeing, with TOA and annual CURLS summerschool, as well as the annual Mindful

Markets forum and social enterprise course.

RIGHT LIVELIHOOD LECTURE Raúl Montenegro

“Science, indigenous worldviews and our perceptions of governance challenges.”

Raúl received the Right Livelihood Award in 2004 “for his outstanding work with local communities and indigenous people to protect the environment and natural resources”.

“If we destroy their environments and communities, we will lose the answers they have to solving our problems, and to the protection of our common futures.”

Since 1985 Raúl Montenegro has been Professor of Evolutionary Biology at the National University of Cordoba, Argentina. In 1982 he was the principal founder of FUNAM (Environment Defence Foundation), and has been its President since 1995. At present, he is FUNAM’s representative at the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) at the United Nations. Raúl Monenegro has managed to bridge the gaps between the environment, development, universities, citizens and NGOs. He is a supporter of the Campaign for a United Nations Parliamentary Assembly (UNPA), an organisation that promotes democratic reform of the United Nations.

In addition to his actions, Raúl Montenegro has come up with theoretical concepts in order to increase the knowledge and understanding of balanced ecosystems, and has held numerous conferences on this topic. Raúl Montenegro leads the Right Livelihood College campus Cordoba.

vision and highlights of their experiences as an introduction to World Café

sessions in small groups. Resource persons will rotate among the tables. The

World Café groups will be moderated by CURLS participants. Key

observations and plans, suggestions and initiatives for future action will be

noted and shared with all participants in steps until the final conclusions

during Panel Discussion IV, Sunday morning. Forum participants who wish

to continue shaping the plans into concrete collaborative action and the

formation / strengthening of the Earth Trusteeship Platform (Asia – Pacific)

can do so during the Open Space, Sunday 21 July, 13.30 – 15.00 hours.
