TOSCE(Tulane’s  Objective  Structured  Clinical  Examination)

• Essentially  SCOPE  v2• 6  SP  stations  intended  to  give  us  practice  for  Step  2CS

• Our  class  received  scheduling  email  in  early  March

• Exam  dates  ranged  from  May  1st – June  13th

• Didn’t  receive  grade  reports  until  July  7th

Step  2  CS• Expensive…$1,285• Atlanta,  Chicago,  Houston,  Philadelphia,  Los  Angeles  

• 12  patient  encounters• ~8  hours  long  • Graded  on  3  components:– Integrated  Clinical  Encounter  (ICE)– Communication  &  Interpersonal  Skills  (CIS)– Spoken  English  Proficiency  (SEP)

• Spots  fill  quickly,  so  schedule  ASAP

Step  2  CK• $610• Prometric  Centers  • More  clinically-­‐based  Step  1;  most  students  study  for  2-­‐4  weeks  using  UWorld questions  

• Can  take  anytime  up  until  winter  break  of  T4  year…some  specialties  may  like  to  have  scores  on  ERAS  applications  

• Allow  1-­‐2  months  to  receive  score  back  

IDS  Seminars  • 5 are  needed  to  graduate  • Topics  include  HIV,  Ebola,  EKG  Clinical  Cases,  Sudden  Cardiac  Death,  Supraventricular  Tachycardias,  Mind-­‐Body  Wellness,  Antibiotics,  Memorable  Speeches,  Teaching  Kitchen,  etc.

Residency  Application

• Personal  Statement,  CV,  Photo,  LoRs,  Dean’s  Letter  (MSPE),  Board  Scores  

• ERAS  deadline  for  2017-­‐2018  cycle  was  September  15,  2017

• Interview  season  is  specialty-­‐dependent,  but  usually  October  – January  

• Class  of  2018’s  Match  Day  is  3/16/18
