The international community participating in the CONTEMPORARY JEWELLERY YEARBOOK presents itself for the second time more united than ever through this collective project aimed at promoting contemporary jewellery and a bold way of understanding jewellery in its more in-vestigative and creative facet. The 2012-2013 edition of this printed catalogue is coming to fruition after the launch of the project last year and the success of its presentation. The most up-to-the-minute and diverse facets of creative expression in contemporary jewel-lery are brought together on these pages, in which more than 100 artists from 27 countries are once again participating, yielding a veri-table laboratory of creativity available to galleries, museums, foundations, the profes-sional jewellery sector, fairs and readers all over the world thanks to the editorial support of Grupo Duplex. The CONTEMPORARY JEWELLERY YEARBOOK is back in a bilingual English and Spanish version, and it is once again endorsed by the experience of Grupo Duplex, which also publishes the magazine that is the doyen of the jewellery world, Arte y Joya.

La comunidad internacional CONTEMPORARY JEWE-LLERY YEARBOOK se presenta por segunda vez más unida que nunca por el proyecto colectivo destinado a promover la joyería contemporánea y una valiente forma de entender la joya en su vertiente más investigadora y creativa. La edición 2012-13 de este catálogo impreso se hace realidad tras el arranque del proyecto el pasado año y el éxito obtenido en su pre-sentación. Las más actuales y diversas facetas de expresión creativa de la joyería contempo-ránea se dan cita en estas páginas en las que vuelven a participar más de un centenar de artistas procedentes de 27 países. Un verda-dero laboratorio de creatividad al abasto de galerías, museos, fundaciones, sector joyero profesional, ferias y lectores de todo el mundo gracias al apoyo editorial de Grupo Duplex. Adeguimar estudió diseño e historia de la joye-ría, en el Centro de Gemologia de Goiás. Se ha inspirado en su padre. Ha conseguido el Top 100 Brazilian Artisans Award y el Emprendedor del Año 2006. Participó en ferias de joyería como: More Milán - Brazil Oggi - Milan, Sofa - New York y Collect Brazilian Jewellery.

Adeguimar studied jewellery history and design at Centro de Gemologia de Goiás. She was inspired by her father. Her most important achievements are Top 100 Brazilian Artisans Award and En-trepreneur of the Year 2006. She joined fairs like: More Milan - Brazil Oggi – Milan, Sofa – New York and Collect Brazilian Jewellery.

The Greek jewellery designer exists in the jew-ellery industry for the last 30 years. Being perpetually guided by her imagination and crea-tivity, she creates unique pieces of jewellery, inspired by nature and the geometrical forms. She studies sculpture in Poland, but is in Italy that carries its activities in the field of art. Power point to his artistic achievement of jew-ellery. Mi trabajo gira entorno a la naturaleza, una transformación de flores, semillas, animales en joyas. Observo, dibujo, hago un “Herbarium” de mi colección y después, trabajo con láminas de plata que corto, moldeo y sueldo. Me gusta que la gente observe mi trabajo y consiga iden-tificar las flores.

My work is around the nature, a translation of flowers, seeds, animals in jewels. I observe, I draw, I make a “Herbarium” of my collection; then I work with sheets of silver, that I cut, I mould and I sold. I like when people stay a long time looking my work and success to rec-ognize the flowers.

La combinación de nuevos materiales, que, a principios de 1980, sacudió a la industria de la joyería, encajó perfecta-mente con mi filosofía personal: “La cuestión del valor de lo que intrínsecamente no tiene valor y la falta de valor de lo valioso refleja una postura que es fundamental para mi vida”.

Rubber and diamonds.The new materials mix, which, in the early 1980’s, caused a lot of head-shaking in the jewellery industry, was a perfect match with my personal philosophy: “The question of the value of what is intrinsically worthless and the worthlessness of the valuable reflects a stance that is basic to my life”.

Los lápices de colores eran mi juguete favori-to de niña. Mi trabajo comenzó desarmando los lápices para armarlos en formas totalmente di-ferentes y transformarlos en un nuevo material preservando su función. Mezclas de colores y marcas de corte de segueta en las nuevas formas resultantes revelan recuerdos de mi infancia.

The crayons were my favourite toy as a child. My work began by disarming pencils to arm them again in totally different ways and transform them into a new material to preserve its func-tion and history. The mixtures of colours and cut marks in new forms reveal memories of my childhood.

El arte de la talla de piedras preciosas, ni tradicional ni aburrida, es mi preocupación. Trabajar en artesanía tradicional, con cristal y ágata, y crear una talla de piedra inesperada y nueva es algo muy interesante.

The art of precious stone carving, not tradi-tional, not boring is my concern. To work in a traditional handcraft, with crystal and agate, and create an unexpected and new stone cut is a very exciting thing to do.

Anoush combina técnicas tradicionales con nue-vos materiales para conseguir un efecto dramá-tico. Su trabajo va desde anillos hasta grandes y expresivas piezas de pasarela. Anoush combines traditional techniques with new materials to dramatic effect. The work ranges from rings to large expressive pieces for cat-walk. The use of crystals, precious metals and stones, and polypropylene is seen as bold and new, pushing the boundaries of materials and techniques that unlock the potential for design.

Her work is ranging from jewellery sculptures, to impossible and unknown structures. Inspired by the urban environment, she introduces into his creations, recycled materials such as glass that she cuts, sizes or engraves. She makes jew-els where glass, according to the direction and kind of the light, produces surprising effects.

Carola Cobos, creadora de la firma La Cobos “Joyería con Sazón”, se inspira en elementos y conceptos representativos de la cultura Mexi-cana. Obtuvo el primer lugar en la categoría nuevos talentos en el Gran Concurso Estatal de Artesanías Yucatán 2008 y el reconocimiento del Concurso Diseño y Artesanía FONART, México 2008.

Carola Cobos, creator of the firm La Cobos “Joyería con Sazón” is inspired by the repre-sentative elements and concepts of the Mexican culture. Won first prize in the new talents category in the Craft State Contest Yucatán 2008 and the recognition of the Design and Crafts Contest FONART, Mexico 2008.

That collection are called “Blownisphere”, that name was created to stick the best at the process. “Process” is the main inspiration of Cedric Chevalley, who loves to play with the physical universe to create new aesthetic. “Blowning means a lot as I was glass blowner at the beginning of my career”.

Danielle Vroemen estudió diseño de joyería en la Academia de BBAA de Maastricht, se graduó en 2009. A principios de 2010 acabó su primera co-lección de joyas en plata: “Geom”, inspirada en figuras geométricas, que permanece como fuente de inspiración. La nueva colección “SIKS” com-bina la plata con la tecnología de impresión 3D.

Tradicionalmente, un Kirpan es una pequeña es-pada que se lleva como un símbolo religioso de los Sikhs. Se utiliza para combatir la violen-cia contra los oprimidos, indefensos y débiles. Aquí el Kirpan se oculta en un collar de boda convencional hindú; es un símbolo de protección contra la violencia doméstica.

Traditionally, a Kirpan is a small sword worn on the body as a religious symbol for the Sikhs. It was used to stop violence against the op-pressed, defenceless and weak. Here the Kirpan is hidden into a conventionally ornate Indian wedding neckpiece, and is a symbolic reminder to protect oneself against domestic violence.

The titanium led to the gardens by jewellery inspired in botanical and hand-worked, in my workshop where always I remember my father, who taught me the job, I turn to his teaching in its most primary and pure form, as when I saw him to forge stamps of gold, in this same anvil and with his hammer these works are born.

La Colección Serenity está inspirada en los cuencos cantores budistas. Karen espera que el usuario disfrute de la naturaleza táctil de su trabajo.

Karen’s style is bold and sculptural. Geometric shapes are accentuated by oxidisation and hard, polished edges to give an almost industrial finish. The Serenity Collection was inspired by Buddhist singing bowls. Karen hopes the wearer will enjoy the tactile nature of her work.

One of the new features of Iberjo-ya is the unveiling of an exhibition area which offers an alternative to participation for designers and small workshops that want to display their goods and products to companies and professionals in the sector. This area hosts what are called the Minis, uni-que spaces distinguished by their high visibility and made up of readymade stands.

The fair, along with Bisutex and Inter-gift, will be held as part of Giftrends which is constantly reinventing itself with multiple contents in trends, whe-re creativity and quality go hand in hand as the keys to success.

Una de las novedades de Iberjoya es la presentación de un área de exposición que ofrece una alternativa diferente de participación a aquellos diseña-dores y pequeños talleres que quieran presentar sus trabajos y productos a empresas y profesionales del sector. Se trata de los Minis, un espacio di-ferenciado y de alta visibilidad e in-tegrado por stands llave en mano.

Del 1� al 1� de octubre, en la pre-ciosa Sala Comillas de las Drassanes de Barcelona, tendrá lugar la segunda edición de Espaijoia, Jewelry Medite-rranean Meeting. Más allá del clásico concepto de feria, es un espacio re-servado a los profesionales del sector en el que, a lo largo de cuatro días, la exposición y el business son los protagonistas.

TFrom 12 to 15 October the 2nd edition of Espaijoia, Jewelry Mediterranean Meeting will be held in the beautiful Comillas hall of Drassanes of Barcelo-na. This is not the classic concept of a trade show, but a special space re-served to professionals of the sector in which the Exhibition and the Busi-ness are the keys during four days.

In this meeting the space is shared not only by Spanish Companies but also by Greek, Italian and even German and British Firms. In addition, as it was in the first meeting, schools are pla-ying a special role which means to join the new generations and new ideas to the sector by chance. This is a clear bet to the future.Dextrum, the organizing Company, is foreseeing a complete programme of complementary activities where confe-rences on security, internationaliza-tion, etc., are included as well as monographic lectures as Espaijoia Te-chnologic, which joins machinery and CAD Companies, o Espaijoia Gourmet, which matches jewelry to gastronomy.

There is no other trade fair quite like INHORGENTA MUNICH, with a high level of endorsement of innovations, such as with the help of the INHORGENTA MUNICH “Contemporary Design” in hall C2. It offers young designers a unique pla-tform and creative freedom for extraor-dinary exposure to an international audience of professionals. The trade fair not only covers the industry’s entire bandwidth, it also allows vi-sitors to experience the development of trends first-hand. This is in part a result of the continuing, successful development of INHORGENTA MUNICH.

In 2012 1,134 exhibitors from 37 coun-tries came to Munich and presented their products and services on a net exhibit space of 33,350 square meters. This represents a 4.9 % growth in exhi-bit space compared to the prior year’s event. With around 30,000 trade visi-tors from 80 countries this “Trade Show for Jewelry and Watches” has once again underlined its importance for the in-ternational market. Around one third of the total number of trade visitors came from outside Germany.

INHORGENTA MUNICH Hall C2, “Contempora-ry Design”, revolves around innovative designer jewellery, shown among others in Forum Concepts and Forum Innovatio-ns, as well as silverware. A number of special exhibits offer designers an ideal platform for new concepts and unusual creations, and provide the perfect atmosphere for presenting this very special jewellery genre. Another feature: Brand New – New Brand, the platform for the next generation of designers as well as the Forum Silvers-miths, inviting design enthusiasts to discover exquisite silver creations.

The 40th INHORGENTA MUNICH will be held from February 22nd to 25th, 2013.

En 2012, 1.134 expositores de 37 países se concentraron en Múnich para presen-tar sus productos y servicios en un es-pacio neto de 33.350 metros cuadrados. Estas cifras representan un crecimien-to en el espacio expositivo del 4,9 por ciento en comparación con la edición del pasado año. Una tercera parte de los profesionales del sector que acuden a la feria provienen del extranjero.

La sala C2, “Diseño Contemporáneo”, se centra en la joyería de diseño in-novadora, además de en la de plata y nuevas generaciones. Un buen número de exposiciones especiales ofrecen a los diseñadores una plataforma ideal para mostrar y ver nuevos conceptos y creaciones inusuales, y brindan el ambiente perfecto para presentar este género tan especial dentro de la joye-ría. Otro espacio destacado es Brand New – New Brand (Totalmente Nueva – Nueva Marca), la plataforma para di-señadores jóvenes y novatos, además de Forum Silversmiths, que invita a los entusiastas del diseño a descubrir creaciones exquisitas de plata.
