FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to start by offering my thanks to you all for your contributions to our community. Thank you for helping at the
Book Fair, our Friday barbecue lunches, excursions, the Mother’s Day stall, afternoon sports activities and more. If you are
keen to be involved but do not have the time, your support from home in helping your children to be ready to participate in
every opportunity at school is still significant.
NAPLAN this week and next
This week and next many of our Year 3 and 5 students are completing the NAPLAN tests online. The NAPLAN tests are one of
the tools we use at Antonio to monitor and assess progress and achievement along with other daily, weekly and yearly
observations and assessments across all year levels in our school. We look forward to using this information to continue to
work in partnership with you in supporting your children’s learning and progress throughout their education at Antonio.
Federal Election – We are nearly there!
This weekend sees us all voting in the federal election (if we haven’t already). We have included further information that
provides an education lens when looking at what the major parties are promising if elected. I invite you to read this section
and click on the link to explore this information in supporting your discernment process.
Social Emotional Learning is a vital part of the curriculum at Antonio. This learning supports student wellbeing and in turn
supports their overall learning and development. This week I spoke with some Reception and Year One students who were
learning about the things they do to establish and maintain strong friendships. The children talked about…
Cooper I share so we both enjoy things.
James We play together and speak respectfully.
Lucas I am encouraging. I encourage friends to have a go.
Jakub I am nice. I help them when they need my help.
Jacob I share. They smile when you share toys with them, like my digger.
Aviana I feel good when I am kind. I helped my friend when she fell over.
Keep an eye out for further learning being shared through the SeeSaw app. Our school is full of wonderful stories each and
every day where learning is enjoyed and celebrated.
Master Planning Update
Both last year and earlier this year I have talked and written about our engagement in the master planning process which is
designed to plan ongoing development and building to support teaching and learning and growth over the next 15 - 20 years.
The brief has been completed in this process, ready for the next phase which is meeting and selecting an architect to engage
with our community and produce a master plan which reflects who we are at Antonio, contemporary practice and our vision
for educating into the future. Our nature play development is a significant part of our future along with some other
opportunities that we may identify through this process. I look forward to sharing further developments on this project very
soon.
Principal Tours – Let your friends know
If you have any friends who are in the process of discerning their child’s school, please let them know we have some upcoming
Principal Tours on Wednesday 22nd May at 9.30am and Saturday 25th May at 10.00am.
I look forward to seeing you around our community in the coming days and weeks whether it is at our upcoming Mary Help of
Christians Day on Friday 24th May, at the Book Fair this week, Grandparents Day on Friday 14th June or before and after school
each day.
Have a wonderful fortnight with family and friends.

Federal Election Update - Catholic Education’s key election objectives
Catholic schools are a vital part of Australia’s education landscape; from humble beginnings almost 200 years ago, Catholic
Education is now the nation’s largest provider of education outside the government.
The key national issues for Catholic Education at the upcoming federal election are:
increased capital funding
more resources for early childhood education
religious freedom in schools

PARENTS, FRIENDS & COMMUNITY Thank you to the fantastic parents who were able to help at the Mother’s Day Stall and the Book Fair. Without your help, we wouldn’t be able to offer these opportunities to our students and families. BBQ: Weekly BBQ lunch orders need to be placed on Wednesday for collection in the classroom / office box. No late orders can be accepted.
Student Banking: Thursday Student Banking Day. Students can open a savings account with the Commonwealth Bank and send their money with their bank book every Thursday via the Office/Classroom container. We are unable to interrupt classes, therefore students need to either place their bank books into the classroom/office contained or leave them in the office on banking day
This month our school community will be participating in Woolworths Earn and Learn for School and Early Learning Centres. There will be containers for stickers at: Antonio Catholic School office, Morphett Vale and Hackham Woolworths stores.
ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS are available through
our school.
There is a sample book in the office for you to
check on the special offers and discounts
available.
You can choose between the book/card or app
on your device.
This is also a great PFC initiative for fund raising
for your child’s school.
