the pilgrimage city
Area/Scope of Field Work
Antipolo City
The City on the mountain ridges east of Manila
where the sun begins to shine.
The City whose name was derived from the
Tipolo trees growing indigenously on its land….
Trees with broad leaves that provide shade while
gently fanning in the soothing breeze.
Antipolo, the city of pilgrims and
contemplatives, tourists and traders, artists and
artisans.

Insights and Reflection
Antipolo is a spill-over of Metro Manila.
Anything goes in Antipolo.
Urbanization is in-evitable but political will is
needed to prevent or mitigate its ill-effects.
The Ynares political dynasty is dominant in
Antipolo.
Religiosity is personal. Devotees or pilgrims
have no concern about what is happening to
Antipolo.
Economy is dependent largely in tourism.
Added are the factories and industries that
could not be accommodated in Metro Manila.
Tayo na sa Antipolo
At doon maligo tayo
Sa batis na kung tawagin ay hi-hi…
Hinulugan Tatak
At doon tayo’y kumain ng mangga, suman,
cashew at balimbing
Kaya’t magmadali ka
Tayo ay tutuloy na
sa Antipolo
Salamat po!Terima Kasih!
Thank you!
