Antibiotic resistance is a public health crisis that is reported to kill over 63,000 people every year. That’s 173 patients every day! LULAC agrees with the scientific community that the use of antibiotics in animal farms for weight gain contributes to antibiotic resistance among humans.

Government and health organizations have proven that antibiotics used in animals are transferred to humans when we consume poultry and meat, which causes our bodies to become resistant to antibiotics. The overuse of antibiotics harms the human body to fight of bacteria. I hope you will consider voting to regulate the (1) sensible use antbiotics and (2) labeling consumer products that use antibiotics to ensure we keep our families healthy.

El gobierno y organizaciones de salud han comprobado que los antibióticos usados en animales se transfieren a los seres humanos al consumir aves de granja y carne de res y/o de puerco, causando así, que nuestro cuerpo sea resistente a los antibióticos. El uso excesivo de antibióticos daña el cuerpo humano, evitando así su lucha contra las bacterias. Espero que usted considere la votación para regular primero, el uso sensato de antibióticos y segundo el etiquetado de productos de consumo que utilizan antibióticos para asegurar que nuestras familias estén saludables.
