Trim and insulating panels for the commercial vehicleindustry made of sustainable raw materialsHAPPICH Fahrzeug- und IndustrieteileGmbH develop and produce a wide rangeof interior trim parts in various materialcombinations for the commercial vehicleindustry, mainly for applications in busesand trucks:

    made of sustainable raw materials

    recyclable

    in accordance with internationally

    specified quality, safety and

    environmental standards

HAPPICH have had many years of expe-rience with light-weight trim components,in particular with components supplied tothe commercial vehicle industry for mass-production.

Modular construction parts and bondingsystems are used to provide thermal andacoustic insulating properties on the onehand while on the other hand their widescope styling solutions in visible areas isenhanced by a multitude of decorative sur-faces achieved by laminating many diffe-rent textiles, leatherettes and foils.

For partially encapsulating enginecompartments in commercial vehiclesHAPPICH develop and manufacturevarious high and low temperatureresistant noise deadening panels

    made of special material blends.

These noise reduction panels are normallysituated between the drivers cab (whichtilts on cab-over-engine trucks) and theengine compartment whereby the panels, however, are always firmly attached to thecabs. (Refer to sketch on folding leaf.)

    Noise deadening panels fulfil twofunctions:

On the one hand absorb annoying enginenoise to a very great extent, on the other

they insulate the cab interior againstunwanted heat transfer generated by anidling or running engine.

The basic used to manufacture thermalinsulation and anti-noise panels are basaltrock wool, cotton and carbon fibre whichhave excellent properties with respect tothermal stability.

    Low temperature resistant noisedeadening panels

Noise absorption close to engines, temperature

    resistant up to approx. 150C.

there is a specific customer requirementMC can be used as a carrier insert in thene-shot moulding process.

he following example shows how effective

ermal insulation can be when a noise-bsorbing panel is attached to the vehicle:

hile it has been ascertained that tempe-tures of up to 630C can be generated

y a heavy truck running at maximumngine performance, the temperature ofe cab floor can be reduced to roughly

30C by installing a noise-deadeningpanel with its additional function as a heatdeflector.

    The high-performance presses used to

manufacture these panels have a maxi-mum compressing force of 1,000 tons. Thecompression moulding process is carriedout at temperatures of up to 200C. Thelarge surface area laminating press with itstable measuring 2 x 3m makes it possibleto laminate the surfaces of carrier insertsclose to these dimensions.
