Brief The University has licensed a CFD software ANSYS-CFX, which is one of widely used commercial package, representing the current state-of-the-art flow simulation technique. In this assignment, you are asked to complete a case study using ANSYS-CFX and based on simulation results, to assess its capabilities and limitations. The complete CFD flow simulation should include, but not limited to, grid refinement and domain dependence studies on a sequence of prior tests, followed by final simulations with model influences (such as turbulence model) and complete result discussions on the problem studied. General requirement : In case of unequal work load/contribution, the report should clearly state each individual’s contributions that will be assessed and marked separately; otherwise same mark will be given to both members. You should finish the report in a standard format, starting with a front cover, content & page number, abstract, relevant chapters (introduction, problem description, solution procedure, results discussion, conclusions), and ending with references and appendices. Marking criteria is given in a table below. While you may need to describe the CFX and its modeling techniques in general, the description should be kept in a short length. The report should primarily focus on the discussion of ‘Your’ numerical practice, e.g. mesh and domain studies or other uncertainty associated with the model of choice. You should also discuss key steps of constructing the computer model, results obtained from the simulations and make comments on the software being used. Finally conclusions are required to summarize the key findings (both qualitatively and quantitatively) and propose any potential improvement for further research. The report will be graded according to the following criteria:
