NSMP Project
• NSMP software written in 1992.
• Generates response and Fourier spectra, corrected acceleration, velocity, displacement
NSMP Project
• BAP uses file-based I/O and configuration
• 2-byte precision output and therefore duplicated at CESMD
• Poor interface to ANSS data
• NSMP project recently reorganized– Data acquisition/processing in NCSN– Field installation/maintenance in Earthquake
Effects Project
Goals
• Migrate NSMP post-processing algorithms into CISN software architecture with effective user-interface tools
• Provide a supported, stable, and efficient processing platform for generating processed strong-motion records.
• Ensure that migrated software is capable of meeting present and future needs of ANSS, NSMP and the COSMOS user community.
The Parkfield Experience
• 50 SM stations within 20km
• 80% were SMA-1 recorders
• Wave field aliased

Project Status
• 3 Servers operating in Menlo Park, Golden, and Caltech– Peak ground motions fed into CISN system– Waveform images created dynamically and available
on USGS web server– SOH fed into SNW
• 33 units delivered; 25 more to be delivered soon• 2 each sent to cooperating RSNs• 16 to be deployed in SF Bay region; 33 volunteers• 5-year/$3M IDIQ in place
