Art Museum of South Texas opens exhibition by world-renowned photographer
New Ansel Adams exhibition to bring tourists to Corpus Christi

Corpus Christi, Texas- Ansel Adams: Western Exposure opens at the Art Museum of South
Texas January 24th. The exhibition encompasses 125 photos by Adams, some of which
have rarely, if ever, been shown publicly. Also included are drawings by Ansel Adams, his
large format 8x10 view camera and memorabilia that belonged to the photographer. Ansel
Adams (1902-1984) is considered one of the most renowned photographers of the
twentieth century, best known for his black-and-white photos of the American West.
The Art Museum of South Texas is the only venue in Texas to display Ansel Adams:
Western Exposure. The exhibition is curated by Adams’ daughter-in-law, Jeanne Falk
Adams. Jeanne and her husband, Michael Adams, son of the photographer, have lived in
Adams’ Carmel Heights, California home and studio for more than twenty years. Together,
Jeanne and Michael have meticulously gone through the Adams’ photos and archives to
create this unique exhibition
This collection includes a rare and intimate look into the career of the photographer, his
relationships, and his vision for what he held dear. This is an unforgettable opportunity to
see in person the qualities of great photographs that synthesize the exposure time and
optimum tonal range using the “zone system” developed by Ansel Adams and Fred Archer.
Friday night’s reception will feature keynote speaker Michael Adams, son of Ansel Adams
lecturing on “Ansel Adams in Focus” at the H-E-B Auditorium at the museum. The evening
begins with the reception at 6pm and the lecture at 7pm.beginning at 6:00pm. Tickets for
this featured event are $25 for members and $35 for non-members. Make reservations by

The Art Museum of South Texas is the second and final exhibition location for Ansel Adams:
Western Exposure, making this exhibition an exclusive opportunity to experience the beauty
of the natural world through this important artist’s eye. The exhibit is anticipated to be
heavily attended drawing visitors locally, regionally and nationally.
Jeanne Adams, daughter-in-law of Ansel Adams, is available for interviews beginning
January 15th- January 24th. Michael Adams, son of the artist, is available for interviews
beginning Wednesday January 22nd – 24th.
The exhibit will be on display in the Art Museum of South Texas until May 4, 2014.
