ANOREXIA NERVOSA!!

WHAT IS ANOREXIA????

Anorexia nervosa is a serious, potentially life-

threatening eating disorder characterized by self-

starvation and excessive weight loss.

CONTINUED!

Anorexia Nervosa has four primary symptoms:

Intense fear of weight gain or being “fat,” even though underweight.

Disturbance in the experience of body weight or shape, undue

influence of weight or shape on self-evaluation, or denial of the

seriousness of low body weight.

Loss of menstrual periods in girls and women post-puberty.

Eating disorders experts have found that prompt intensive treatment

significantly improves the chances of recovery. Therefore, it is important

to be aware of some of the warning signs of anorexia nervosa.

Approximately 95% of those affected by

anorexia are female, most often teenage girls,

but males can develop the disorder as well.

While anorexia typically begins to manifest

itself during early adolescence, it is also seen in

young

children and adults. In the U.S. and other count

ries with high economic status, it is estimated t

hat about one out of every 100 adolescent girls

has the disorder.

SOME STORIES…

19-year-old Ksenia from Ekaterinburg Bubenko is anorexic.

With the height of 158 cm, she weighs little more than 20 kg.

The girl’s dream was the model future. But the pursuit of the

ideal figure of Xenia led to loneliness, exhaustion and disease.

All the entreaties of the parents and loved ones, it's time to

think again and start to eat properly, did not lead to any result.

Is it possible to stop the advance of anorexia and how to return

to normal life those who have become victims of this terrible

disease?

WHAT ANOREXICS SAY AB OUT THEM…

“People usually look at me very strangely. They are

not used to see girls such as me on the streets. Of

course look at me my arms are so skinny, you can

easily see my hips. Sometimes I wake up, but I can’t

get up from my bed…

Please don’t think that ‘bones’ look good, they

don’t!!! It is an illness”
