Dear families of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light” (Ephesians 5:14). We are at the midpoint of our Lenten journey of conversion. As always, God never gives up on us, especially those who have “fallen asleep” along the road to conversion. The most powerful stories of conversion are proclaimed during these final weeks of Lent. They have the power to shake us out of our sleep. Today’s Gospel story of the healing of the man born blind exposes the real blindness in the time of Christ—the blindness of the self-righteous religious leaders. In a few weeks, at the Easter Vigil, the Church will proclaim “Christ our Light” as the paschal candle is carried into darkened churches throughout the world. May the darkness of sin that still pervades our lives, communities, and world, be dispelled by the Christ who comes to bring sight to the blind and light to the world. As guidelines come from our Bishop Michael C. Barber, SJ we encourage persons over 60 to isolate themselves in an abundance of caution so as not to be exposed to the virus. Those who are ill should stay home. This means the obligation to attend Mass for those over age 60 and for the ill is dispensed. The guidelines also gives a dispensation for all. All Masses at IHM have been cancelled until further notice; however, the Church will be opened from 9am to 4pm but the Chapel will be closed. All social gatherings must be cancelled and reschedule for a later date. These guidelines will stay in place until further notice. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us. Father Quang

Queridas familas del Inmaculado Corazón de Maria, “Despierta, tú que duermes; levántate de entre los muertos y Cristo será tu luz” (Efesios 5:14). Estamos a medio camino en la jornada de Cuaresma para la conversión. Como siempre, Dios no se da por vencido con nosotros, especialmente con aquellos que “duermen” en el camino a la conversión. Los más grandes relatos de conversión se proclaman en estas semanas finales de la Cuaresma. Estos tienen el poder de sacudirnos de nuestro sueño. El relato del Evangelio de hoy sobre la curación del ciego de nacimiento expone la verdadera ceguera en tiempos de Cristo –la ceguera de los líderes religiosos que se creían muy buenos y justos. Dentro de pocas semanas, en la Vigilia Pascual, la Iglesia proclamará a “Cristo nuestra Luz” cuando el Cirio Pascual es llevado dentro de las iglesias oscuras de todo el mundo. Que la oscuridad del pecado que impregna nuestra vida, comunidades y nuestro mundo sea disipada por Cristo quien viene trayendo vista al ciego y luz al mundo. Como las directivas vienen de nuestro obispo Michael C. Barber, SJ, animamos a las personas mayores de 60 años a aislarse en una precaución de abundancia para no estar expuestos al virus. Los que están enfermos deben quedarse en casa. Esto significa que la obligación de asistir a misa para los mayores de 60 años y para los enfermos es dispensada. Te pedimos que intercedas por nosotros ante tu Hijo, como lo hiciste en la boda en Cana. Ora por nosotros, Madre amorosa, y obtén para nuestra nación, nuestro mundo; y para todas nuestras familias y seres queridos, la protección de tus santos ángeles, que podamos ser salvados de esta horrenda enfermedad. Para los ya afligidos, te pedimos que obtengas la gracia de la curación y la liberación. Escucha los clamores de los que son vulnerables y temerosos, limpia sus lágrimas y ayúdales a confiar en tu Hijo. En este tiempo de prueba, enséñanos a todos en la Iglesia a amarnos los unos a los otros y a ser pacientes y amables. Ayúdanos a llevar la paz de Jesús a nuestra tierra y a nuestros corazones. In this time of need, we invite all the faithful to pray the Pope’s prayer for Healing: O Mary, you shine always on our way as a sign and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the foot of the Cross bound yourself to the suffering of Jesus, keeping strong in your faith. O Salvation of God’s people, you know what we need and we are sure you will provide it for us just as in Cana of Galilee the joy and feasting returned after this moment of trial. Mother of Divine Love, help us to conform ourselves to the will of the Father and to do what Jesus tells us, He who took upon Himself our sufferings, and is marked by our sorrows; who led us from the Cross to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.

For those already afflicted, we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliverance. Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM IHM • All Masses have been cancelled until further notice; however, the church is open from 9am to 4pm for
private prayer but the Chapel will be closed.
• All baptisms, Quinceaneras, weddings have been cancelled until further notice.
• Funerals—no Masses at IHM; however, commital service at the cemetery will be performed by the
clergy.
• No vigil services will be performed.
• RCIA class is cancelled until further notice.
• The fish fry has been cancelled.
• St. Vincent de Paul will still have food provided with a drive through service only.
• The office will be closed until April 7, 2020.
• We will be using FLOCKNOTES to inform our parishioners, refer to page 7. If you don’t receive them

• All Penance Services in the deanery have been cancelled.
• The Stations of the Cross have been cancelled.
• Adoration has been cancelled until further notice.
• IHM is working on live stream Mass which will be announced soon.
• Anointing of the sick, Viaticum and Absolution only to those in danger of death. All other visits, including
visits to the homebound by our ministers, are to be postponed for the time being. To schedule a visit
