    Principals message

This year has been another busy year at Mulwala Public School. This year our school welcomed Buddy Bear as our school mascot. The Better Buddies foundation is a program devised by the Alannah and Madeleine Foundation. The Better Buddies framework develops positive cross-age relationships, social values and skills, and contributes to a positive and caring school culture by focusing strongly on activities and strategies that reinforce positive and social values such as caring for others, valuing differences, respect, friendliness, responsibility and including others. Its mascot is a purple bear called Buddy Bear and the patron of the program is Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.

We were very pleased with our Year 3 and 5 results in general in NAPLAN especially in the areas of Numeracy and Spelling.

Many opportunities were provided to participate in a variety of sports, social and cultural activities. Of course Buddy Bear was an eager participant in all of these.

I invite all school families to read this report, reflect on our progress, and to take the opportunity to participate in further improving Mulwala Public School.

I certify that the information in this report is the result of a rigorous school self-evaluation process and is a balanced and genuine account of the schools achievements and areas for development.

    Elizabeth Turner, Principal.

P & C 2011 has been another successful year for the

Parents and Citizens Association. We were able

to have our great Easter Market again this year

with many stalls returning after having no market

in 2010 due to the building of the playground

covers. The weather was kind and with lots of

visitors to the area, we raised over $5000. Other

fundraisers we participated in were the

Fishermans Rolls, Raffles and the Cod Classic.

Throughout the year we have helped the school

with upgrading the television in the library to a

large digital flat screen that all the children have

enjoyed watching. We have hosted barbeques

for our children and visiting schools and have just

purchased a new BBQ for use early next year.

With the guidance of Mrs Cook and her team, we

have planted new gardens around the school and

they are looking great. We would like to thank

Mrs Cook for her help with the P & C over the

    years.

I would like to thank the committee, parents and

carers who give their time to make our school the

great place that it is. Finally I would like to thank

the staff and whole school community for making

the last five years enjoyable. Our friendliness and

community spirit is something we should be very

    proud of.

    Kathryn Yeo, President.

Student representatives message This year has been a great year. We have done lots of great things and had a lot of great opportunities. Some of the things we organised were Diabetes Day, Footy Colours Day, and Jeans for Genes Day. We also had a Loud Shirt and Crazy Hair Day, celebrated Harmony Day and participated in Maroon Day which raised money for the flood victims in Queensland. On Bandage Bear Day we sold bandage bears and on Ronald McDonald Day we walked to school and had a special breakfast. We had a special black and white day to raise money for research into saving the Tasmanian Devils from facial tumours. The Tour de Cure called in at our school and we presented them with a cheque to help research into cancer. The charities we supported received a massive total of about $651. As captains and prefects we have run assemblies each second week, led the march on ANZAC day and participated in the combined Mulwala and Yarrawonga Remembrance Day ceremony which was on the 11th day of the 11th month of the year 2011. We all went to a Leadership conference in Albury where we joined in lots of activities and listened to some interesting speakers.

We would like to wish next years captains and house captains all the best. We hope you enjoy your leadership roles as much as we have this year.

It was held in Term 4 and was well-attended by parents, friends and relatives. It was held at Mulwala Football Club. Combining with other small schools we were entertained with professional performances from The World according to James and Jacana as part of our Musica Viva experience.
