With collaboration and input from AAEE board members, the certification committee, and Prescott College faculty, the Prescott College Environmental Educator Certification course was born. The resulting pilot program was an enormous success, with 11 educators certified.

In 2018 AAEE held an Environmental Literacy Summit in Phoenix where we launched a new Community of Practice focused on bringing together anyone interested in environmental education to tackle problems together and improve environmental literacy for all Arizonans.
