Journalism as a career. He told the children that

honesty is very important for this profession.

Palaniswamy, Senior cameraman of Doordarshan,

spoke about our country having few camerawomen

and urged the girls to take up this challenge. He asked

the parents to encourage the girls to enter unique fields.

Aarohana a unique competition for socially deprived children

Aarohana, a unique competition for

socially deprived children was

conducted by Abhyudaya. The program

was held on 7th Jan 2018 Sunday at

Ramakrishna Samagra Shikshana

Kendra, Gottigere.Most of the students

were from slums and villages in and

around Bengaluru South.

1600 children participated in various

competitions. More than 300 volunteers

and 60 judges were there in the event.

The event was covered by Doordarshan

Kannada channel.

Event was inaugurated by Prof.

Shreedhar Swamy and famous cine

artist Sri Jaggesh was the chief guest.

Science exhibition was one of the main

attractions. Children had prepared

models of solar systems, rockets, and

one even made a Harley Davidson bike.

It was surprising that the children were

aware of all these.

A student from Bommasandra

government school displayed Protect

Forest theme model. He had displayed

vehicles and people at the edge of the

forest. It showed that these children

were well aware of the importance of

saving our forests, about the

indiscriminate destruction of forests and

man-animal conflicts.

Such events provide the deprived

children with an opportunity to exhibit

their talents. Our experience has shown

a very positive impact on the confidence

of these children to participate in many

more similar programs, especially when

they see their talent getting recognised.

We have also observed how it

encourages many more children, who

are otherwise shy, to express their

hidden talents.

She also explained to the children the importance of conservation, particularly about tigers. She said that

“Protection of one tiger protects several hundred square kilometres of forest and ecology. Entire food chain

gets preserved. This is the scientific reason for protecting tigers”. She stressed the importance of reading

newspapers to students so that they can do well in competitive exams. She told the children that education

to a girl is education to the entire society. She emphasised that girls have to be financially independent and

asked the them to be focused in life to get good jobs in future.

She told marriage should not be primary objective of girls, it is part of life, but the priority should be financial

independence. A woman may decide not to work but she should have the capacity to get a job any time and

support her family. She said that “Our duty is to strive towards excellence in all spheres of individual and

collective activity, so that the nation constantly rises to higher levels of endeavour and achievement". She

children were taught crafts, painting singing etc. Summer camps are very important as they prevent the

Aishwarya and Soundarya are daughters of a

Vidyanidhi a Scholarship for socially economically deprived

students not to feel sad or depressed of getting less marks

in the exams by giving them a motivational example of his

own life. He gave example of himself scoring very low

marks during his engineering in UVCE, but today he is in

the top position. He asked the parents to give their children

good basic education. He told that the next century

belongs to India and only those who have good education

will get the benefits and rest may not be able to catch up.

He finally concluded his words by advising students to

study well despite facing many difficulties and challenges

in their lives.

Rudranna Harthikote, Assistant Editor of

Vijayawani was another important guest for the

He asked students to stay away from the evils of

the society like adverse usage of the internet and

A few toppers and a few selected students who were

from very poor economic background were given the

cheque on the stage. Soundarya, daughter of a house

maid, who lost her father due to gangrene last year,

from SJP Polytechnic. Her ambition is to be an

engineer.

Shridar Swamy, a Professor of National College and

part of RSS, chief speaker spoke about the growth of

Abhyudaya and the people behind this success. He

gave examples of how the children of our country have

come together to help the flood prone regions in

Andhra Pradesh. The role of children in the

development of the nation is very big. He mentioned

that unity among people and supportive society can

lead to the overall development of the children and our

country. He advised everyone to strive hard to get a

good name and make our country proud. He also

mentioned that we should not only take from the

society but in-turn we should give back to the society.

After the program, accompanied by their parents, the

rest of the 650 students got their cheques.

Program took place on July 1st Sunday at VET college

Auditorium Bengaluru, JP Nagar. It was organized by

Abhyudaya a social project of Keshava Kripa

Samvardhana Samiti. Over 500 people were present in

the program

Medical Camp by Abhyudaya and Madan Mohan Malaviya mission

More than 300 people most of them construction

labourers from north Karnataka visited the medical

camp. Being migrant workers they don't know

much about the medical facilities in Bengaluru and

also they don’t get time for this on week days. As

the program was conducted on Sunday, they got

benefited a lot. Doctors came from Rajarajeshwari

College and Hospital, Padmashree College of

Public Health and Bagawan Buddha Homeopathic

Medical College. Doctors from ENT,

ophthalmology, physiotherapy, gynaecology,

general health and many more departments

visited the camp. Free medicines were also

distributed. The program was organised by

Abhyudaya and Madan Mohan Malviya Mission

Bengaluru chapter.

Madan Mohan Malviya Mission was started by

BHU alumni. They started Madan Mohan Malviya

Mission with an objective of giving back something

to the society. Most of the alumni are in top

positions in different companies.

Hence during one of their previous alumni meet

they all felt to regularly engage in some social

activitiey which helps the society. The mission was

started in 1978 in Varanasi and in 2013 at

Bengaluru.

Volunteers and Swayamsevaks from Girinagara

also supported in conduct of this camp.

One speciality of this camp was that students from

Padmashree School of Public Health had come to

conduct medical camp along with doctors. Public

health is different from medical field. Because in

medical field doctors target the individual. But public

health professionals target the health of a whole

community by prevention, proper sanitation and

hygiene. Lot of money could be saved when the people

from deprived class focus on cleanliness.

Program was held on 24 June Sunday, at St Ann's

English school, Hoskere Halli, Veerabhadra Nagara

Bengaluru.
