Title of the programme: Awareness drive for biodiversity of Assam

Activities: (i) Demonstration for use of microscopes to observe different microscopic objects.

(ii) Power point presentation about endangered species as well as flora and fauna of Assam

(III) Presenting name plate bearing botanical names of the trees of the school.

Title of the programme: Drive for popularization of Science on Science day

Activities: (i) Demonstration for use of microscopes to observe different microscopic objects.

Programme-5

Title of the programme: Working for helpless people

Activities: (i) Staying one day in Dagaon Anath Ashram(Orphanage), Baligaon and providing a

launch to the inhabitants on that day.

(ii) Encouraging the inhabitants to take part in the cultural programme organized there, so as to

make them feel happy during the festive season (few days after BOHAG BIHU)

Title of the programme: Flood relief programme

Activities: Helping flood affected people of Janjimukh area

Remark: The materials were collected as donation from teachers, students and employees of

J.B. College. Further employees of Jorhat Head Post Office and villagers of Mezengah, Titabor

also donated some materials. Teachers unit and Employees unit of J.B. College also extended

their helping hand to make the programme a success.

Programme-7

Title of the programme: Trekking camp held at UttarKashi and organised by National Institute

of Mountaineering

Activity: Five NSS volunteers of J.B. College, NSS unit took part in the said camp.

Period: 24/6/12 – 3/7/12

N.S.S. volunteers: Bidisha Shravon, Moyuri Phukan, Mondip Borah, Muktarul Hussain and

Saurabh Sakalya.

Title of the programme: Blood donation to mourn the violence in BTAD area.

Activities: (i) Singing songs and reciting poems of communal harmony.

(ii) Blood donation, where 42 students and 4 teachers donated blood

Title of the programme: Cycle rally

Date: 17/3/13

Activities: Cycle rally along with T.J. Kumar, national cyclist and ex NSS volunteer from Utkal University, Orrissa, to make awareness on polythene hazard and environmental pollution. The route of rally is from J.B. College to J.B. College via A.T. Road, Gar Ali, K.B. Road and Barpatra Road

Title of the programme: Exchange programme on role of society on quality education in L.P. schools.

Activities: NSS volunteers participated in an open discussion on role of society on quality education in L.P. schools, as peer observer. They also conducted an workshop on debating skill development.

Activities: Eight NSS volunteers performed a radio drama (SUNDARE JE PHULAR MANTRA

AHORATRA MATE SEYEHE AJI IMAN PHUL PRABHATE PRABHATE, written and directed by

Pranab Barua, NSS P.O.) to mark the SILPIDIVAS (17th January).

Activities: A group of NSS volunteers participated in NYK camp.

Activities: A group of NSS volunteers visited MULAI KATHANI which was created by forest man

of India, PADMRASREE Jadav Payeng and an interaction with him regarding plantation.

Programme: 22 Title of the programme: Popularization of Science

Activities: The Science laboratories of the college and some interesting scientific activities were

demonstrated to a team of LP School students to mark Science day. NSS unit initiated the whole

programme

Programme: 23 Title of the programme: Special camp

Activities: A special camp is conducted in the adopted village of the college, where the

volunteers conducted the following training sessions for the benefit of the school children-

spoken English, debating technique, self defense (for girl children) and small savings. For all the

training sessions except that of small savings the volunteers acted as recourse persons. In the

training sessions on small savings, employees of Postal department trained up the school

children about opening and managing small savings account.

Activities: NSS and NCC units of the College jointly organized training on VISAKA (Vittiya

Title of the programme: Participation in PRERONA rally on martyr’s day

Activities: PRERONA, Spastic society of Jorhat, has been actively working for differently abled

children since last 25 years and to mark martyr’s day as a part of their silver jubilee celebration

PREORANA organized a cultural rally where the differently abled children also took part. And in

that programme NSS volunteers served as volunteers.

Title of the programme: Participation in cycle rally on the theme “cycling for environment”

Activities: Two NGOS of Jorhat (DIKH and GIBBON ECO CAMP) organized a cycle rally from

Jorhat to GIBBON wildlife sanctuary on the theme “cycling for environment”. In that rally NSS

volunteers also participated.

Programme: 34 Title of the programme: Special camp

Activities: A special camp is conducted in the adopted village of the college, where the

volunteers conducted the following activities- a survey on opinion of villagers regarding

association with J.B. College, competition among school children on memory game and

drawing, talk on importance on plantation and a science model exhibition. Further an exchange

programme was also held in the School for Visually impaired (Blind School), Jorhat
