TRANSCRIPT
Dear Members,
It was a great honor and a privilege to be selected by my fellow Rotarians to be President of the Rotary Club of Dhanbad for the year
2018-19. The year has certainly flown by with many achievements made and many events held. We have had some outstanding past-
presidents, and all have left a significant legacy and they indeed leave very big shoes to fill. I hope that I have gone someway in taking
the Club forward. I joined Rotary because I was looking for a way to make a difference and have always enjoyed contributing to
Community Service. I am very proud of the work of Rotary and I am proud to be called a Rotarian and enjoy the fellowship from the
Members of our Club, and their dedication to the cause whatever that may be. The theme for Rotary in 2018/19 was - "Be The
Inspiration". I think our Club has certainly adopted the theme and has worked very hard on this objective.
The most pertinent issue faced by Rotary today is attendance during meeting. To address this it was decided in one of the board
meeting to revert back from two regular meeting and one project meeting format to four regular meeting and one project meeting
format once again. Process of personal fellowships with members planning a date for their fellowship and sending invitations was
also initiated. With these measure there was indeed an increase in members attendance at the meetings.
Over the last year, we have conducted 18 regular meetings including 1speaker meeting, 1 inter-city meet & 17 Project Meetings.
In Eye Donation Awareness, under Chairperson Rtn Rajesh Matalia and in association with 'Drishti' Eye bank at PMCH we could
harvest six corneas this year. One Toilet Project has been planned at Kashitand School near Barwadda under guidance by PDG
Sandeep Narang and project chair Rtn Rohit Lala. Relocated Permanent Project "Jaipur Limb Centre" at the premises of JJ School is
running successfully and providing artificial limbs to needs persons. Jeevan Jyoti School under Chairperson Rtn Surender Pasari is
achieving new millstones in community sevice. His ingenuity in fund collection has resulted in making this project self-sufficient.
The school has been completely revamped with repair of building and new interior. CCTV camera and PA system has been added.
Jeevan Jyoti Sansthan in now eligible to receive fund in foreign currency and donations to the Sansthan are eligible for tax exemption
under 80G. The six Blood Donation Camps were a huge success, with record 257 units collected over the year.
Mega Health Check-up Camp was held at Tundi where a total of 1000 beneficiaries got the free treatment and medicines.
Our affiliated Rotaract and Interact clubs were also active throughout the year and showed great enthusiasm in taking up community
projects. A brief report of their activities is included in this annual report. Special mention has to be made of Interact Clubs of Delhi
Public School, Carmel School and the Rotaract Club of G N College. They supported us immensely and walked hand in hand with
Rotary during the Eye Donation Awareness Week, medical camp, Blood donation camp, events of Jeevan Jyoti School and the World
Disability Day Rally besides their own Projects. The students have portrayed a great sense of responsibility in all their endeavors and I
hope these experiences translate into personalities dedicated to serving humanity.
I wish to acknowledge the support of my fellow Rotarians, especially seniors and members of B.O.D, you are a great group of people
who have made my position enjoyable and I will look back at the past year with a sense of pride for the achievements we have made
together. I wish to thank our Annes and Lets who have supported us in all the projects. Their presence has made all the events a family
event. I would like to thank all our friends from media for the excellent media coverage done by them to make the society aware of our
various activities and projects. I would also like to thank all the support staff of Seventeen Degrees Hotel who helped us to organize all
the meetings and make events a successful.
I now pass on the baton to the enthusiastic incoming team lead by Dynamic President Rtn Sanjeev Beotra and I wish them all the very
best for a successful and fruitful Rotary Year 2019-20 and I am sure that they will take our club to great height.
With Warm Regards,
RTN DR MANISH KUMAR
