Annual report of the IEEE Student Branch College of Engineering, Munnar.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

The executive committee for the year 2017 was selected on 3rd

of January, 2017. The

selection was made in an Executive Committee meeting held on the same day presided

by Branch Counsellor Prof. Biju K. Mr. Deepak A Jose was selected as the Chairman

of the Executive Committee. Mr. Rohan C H was selected as the Secretary and Mr.

Ameen Majeed was selected as the Treasurer. The members constituted in the same are

1. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING

An executive committee meeting is held on every Thursday. Every Executive

Committee member attends the meeting without fail. Various issues related

to the Student Branch are discussed in the meeting. Also decisions on events,

programs, sessions etc. to be conducted are also discussed in the same. The

meetings are presided over by student branch counselor Mr. Biju K and in his

absence the same is done by the Student Branch Chairman Mr. Deepak A

Jose.

2. MONTHLY MEETING (GENERAL BODY)

A general body meeting is conducted every month. All IEEE members in the

institution are gathered in the same. Important decisions which need sanction of the

general body of the student branch are taken here. The meeting is presided over by

Student Branch Counselor Mr. Biju K.

Activities Conducted

3. KAIZEN 4.0

23-02-2017

The first event of 2017 Executive Committee was Kaizen 4.0, an international

IEEE symposium. The epic start of the Kaizen 4.0 fell on 23rd

February 2017.

Kaizen being a much awaited event saw an immense flow of participants. The

event started by a trekking, which is the signature event of Kaizen. The trekking

lasted for about 2 hours. After trekking a session was taken by Reni George on

spirituality and science. After the session, students gathered for dinner. After

dinner girls and boys moved to their respective accommodations.

The second day of the event started with an icebreaking session. The icebreaking

session was lead by Mr. Sanju Sony Kurian, an alumina of the college. The

following events also included a couple of TedX talks live streamed on the event.

The next event of Kaizen 4 was “Maker Fest”. The event was to collect waste

materials from Munnar town and to make useful materials using them. Maker fest

was followed by lunch. After lunch. A technical session was taken by Mr.

Harikrishna Malladi on “Drones”. The session was followed by an interactive

session hosted by Mr. Rohan C H. The session was followed by dinner and camp

fire. A music concert performance was also done during the campfire. The concert

was led by Mr. Vinayak Singh, a renowned singer. Soon after the dinner an

overnight coding session was also conducted.

The third day of Kaizen 4.0 concentrated purely on technical skill enhancements

of the delegates. Workshops on various topics were conducted. Important

workshops were on Robotics and Iot.

The fourth day of Kaizen4.0, was he concluding day. Normally the day started

with breakfast and soon after breakfast participants crowded at the college lawn

for the photo session. After photo session a talk session was taken by Mr. Renjith

Keshav. An official concluding meeting was conducted after the talk session.

Branch Counsellor Mr. Biju K proposed vote of thanks.

4. Power and Energy Society Quiz Competition

05-10-2017

The next event in the Student Branch was a quiz competition by “IEEE Power and

Energy Society”. The quiz happened on 5th

October, 2017 Thursday. The quiz was a

competition only for the Semester 1 students. It was a preliminary round competition for

the final rounds on Hub level and State level competitions. The quiz started at 12:30

noon. Branch Counsellor Biju K provided the participants with the instruction to be

followed in he quiz as well as the benefits and follow ups on the competition. The quiz

lasted for about 30 minutes.

5. First meeting for Kaizen 5.0

06-10-2017

The first meeting for Kaizen 5.0 was held on 06-10-2017. Idea pitching and other

discussions were carried out on this meeting. A quick introduction of the Executive

Committee members and their posts were made and the meeting continued till evening

5:30. Interesting ideas were noted down by the secretary and was kept for further

brainstorming sessions.

A list of potential speakers for the event was summarized.

6. IEEE Day Celebration 7-10-2017

An orientation on IEEE was given to the students of Semester 1 on 7th

October, 2017.

The session lasted for about 3 hours. The session was initiated by Mr. Manoj R, Student

branch Advisor. He provided an introduction to the students about IEEE and its

activities, followed by an ice breaking session by Rohan C H, Secretary of the Student

Branch. Students participated enthusiastically in the session. After the ice breaking

session, a formal session on the history of IEEE, IEEE benefits and the experience on

IEEE was taken by Mr. Deepak A Jose. The session lasted for about an hour.

IEEE day was also celebrated along with the program.

7. Theme and Logo for Kaizen 5.0

12-10-2017

Potential ideas for the theme for Kaizen 5.0 was discussed in this meeting, all Executive

Committee members were present, also a fair representation by student members from

all the batches were ensured.

Discussions about the theme was colorful. Bright, progressive ideas budded from the

volunteers and they were noted down for finalization.

Logo ideas where shared by Mr. Mukil Menon, LINK Representative of the Executive

Committee.

Top logos were shortlisted and are pending for approval.

8. Evensia 2.0 Proposal

16-10-2017

Proposal for Evensia 2.0, part of the computer society activities as decided from the

previous meeting was given approval from the college authorities and the Executive

Committee decided to move forward with the planning.

It was decided that second year students will co-ordinate the whole event, and a core

event committee was formed.

9. Volunteer Training for Evensia 2.0

18-10-2017

A general body meeting for the volunteers of Evensia 2.0 was conducted. A volunteer

training session was conducted, which was handled by Mr. Rahul Sivaji the Computer

Society Chair and Mr. Rohan CH, the student branch secretary.

Event committees were formed and duty heads were selected.

Follow up meetings were carried out every day evening at 4:30 PM by the volunteers under

the supervision of the Secretary and the Chairman.

10. Evensia2.0 Evensia2.0, Technical symposium of the IEEE CS Chapter of College of Engineering, Munnar.

04-11-2017 The second edition of Evensia, Evensia2.0, the flagship event of IEEE CS Chapter

CEMunnarwas held on November 4thand 5that College Of Engineering Munnar.

Evensia2.0 was an intercollegiate event and saw participation from different parts of

Kerala. The epic start of the Evensia2.0 fell on 4thNovember 2017. Evensiabeing a

much awaited IEEE CS event saw an immense flow of participants. The event started by

a formal inauguration by HrishikeshBhaskaranan alumni of College Of Engineering

Munnarand VP of engineering at Entri.me startup. After the inauguration a networking

session was conducted by the hosts of the event. After the networking session an

outdoor game named Trace The Map was held for the delegates. The icebreaking

session by HrishikeshBhaskaranwas held soon after the game. He spoke on the topic

Engineering. He included basic concepts of Github, hacking and other necessary things

an engineer should know. After the icebreaking session LumiereNight was held and our

volunteers performed during the session. There was songs, dance etc. which added

colourto the event. After the LumiereNight, students gathered for dinner. After dinner

girls and boys moved to their respective accommodations.

11. Execom Meeting 24-11-2017 Venue: Graphics Hall, 4:00PM Agenda: Deciding Schedule and Dates for Kaizen 5.An Executive Committee meeting was held on 24-11-2017 Friday for deciding a proper schedule and dates for Kaizen 5. Attendees: Deepak Jose [SB Chairman], Rohan CH [SB Secretary], MukilMenon[LINK REP], Rahul Sivaji[CS Chairman], SharikaC[WIE Chairman], Sam George [Membership Development Head]. Decisions Taken: Decided to conduct Kaizen 5.0 on 10,11,12,13 February 2018.
