The Board focused on the following areas in 2017:

ChairedbyBoardmemberNadjaCramer,theStrategicPlanningcommitteebegantheyearwithaStaffandBoardworkshopdesignedtoidentifyimprovementopportunitiesfortheschool.Theinformationgatheredatthatsessionplusfurtherinputgatheredfromparentsandstaffalongthewayhasresultedinthe2018to2022QuintilianStrategicPlanthatappearslaterinthisAnnualReport.Anumberofcomponentsoftheplanareintheprocessofbeingimplementedwhilstotherselementswillberolledoutoverthelifetimeoftheplan.

Ithinkthatthephotobannersonournewwebsiteportrayourschoolinawaythatwordsalonecanneverquiteachieve.Manythankstolong-timeparentandformerCouncil(asitwasthen)memberDanniBoothforhertime,expertiseandpatienceintakingallthoseshots.Morerecentlyandgoingforwardsyou’llseeanumberofvideotestimonialsonthewebsitethatwebelievearereflectiveofthestrengthsofourschool.

ThanksareduetoDeputyChairPepitaBullochandPrincipalNeilCollinsfortheirhardworkinpullingthewebsitetogetheralongwithourmarketingconsultant(andparent)KailaMilneofIntersectCommunicationsandwebsitedesignersBirdbrain(throughparentDavidMetcalf).

OneareawhereIbelievewehavereallyexcelledthisyearisCommunityEvents.LedbyourBoardMemberSue-anneMuncktonandveryablysupportedbycommitteemembersVonaSmith,CarolynLilleyandRebeccaPotts,thisteamhasdeliveredoneveryeventfromtheWelcomeBackPartythroughtotheTwilightCarolsandChristmasMarket.

TheRottnestCamp,Scitech,theTriviaandGamesNightand100DaysBreakfasteventswerealsohighlightsforme,butthelowerkey“Freezing Fridays” might well have been preferred by our students?

There were many other staff and parent helpers involved in oureventsofcourseandIthankyouallforyoursupport.Theseeventsnot only create a great camaraderie amongst our community, but theyalsoraiseainsignificantamountofmoneyforourschool.

WithregardstoGovernance,ourBoardCharterhasbeencompletedthis year, addressing topics including the role, structure, code of conduct and operation of the Board. Also, the WA AssociationsIncorporation Act 2015 necessitates further updates to ourConstitutionwhichwill be tabled for your reviewandapproval atthe2018AGM.

Returning after the summer break I hope that you noticed thechangesmadetosomewhatsmartenuptheQuintilianRoadfaçade.YoumayhavealsonoticedthenewsoftfallsurfaceinstalledintheELCplayground,whichhasgreatlyenhancedthatarea.Lessvisiblebut perhaps more importantly our computer systems have been upgradedwithanewserverandanewfleetofcomputerworkstationsand25notebooksforusebystaffandstudents.TheBoardispleased to have been able to deliver these important projects for our school within the current budget parameters and without the need foradditionalfinancingarrangements.

ClassrepsperformakeyroleintheQuintiliancommunity;bringingparentstogether,welcomingnewfamilies,channellinginformationandco-ordinatingevents.Manythankstothosewhohaveputtheirhandsupandtakenontherole.Pleasealsomakeapointofassistingyourclassrepwhereveryouareabletodoso.

Itwouldbeveryremissofmenottothankourhardworking,skilledanddedicatedteachingandadministrationstaff.Youreffortsareverymuchappreciatedbytheparentbody.

Finally, Iwould like to thankmy fellowBoardmembers for theirhardwork through theyearand for theexpertiseandknowledgethey have brought. They are of course Pepita Bulloch, Sue-anneMunckton,Nadja Cramer, Andrew Stevens, Richard Stegena, staffrepresentatives;PrincipalNeilCollins,DeputyPrincipalRebeccaPotts,BursarCharlesHerringandMelRayment.

ThisismyfourthannualreporttotheQuintilianSchoolCommunityandIamsurprisedathowquicklythepastfewyearshaveflownby.Thisyearweworkedhardtomaintainstableenrolmentnumbersandthroughsoundfinancialmanagement,wewereabletofinishwithabudgetsurplus.ThisistestamenttothefineguidancebyourFinanceSub-committeeandourAccountsDepartment.Despitesomestabilisationinourlocaleconomy,westillsawanumberofourex–patfamiliesheadingbackhomeastheirresourceprojectsended.

Iamconfidentthatwecontinuetoofferanoutstandingteachingand learningenvironmentthat ischild-centredandbuiltonthevalueofmutualrespectbetweenstudents,staffandparents.Ourteachingandnon-teachingstaffgobeyondexpectationsanditisobviousthatworkingatQuintilianisfarmorethanjustajob,butratheraplacewhereallourstaffknowwhatgreatlifelongimpacttheyhaveonourchildren.

Ourteachersseektoextendthemselvesandourstudentswithstimulatingandexcitinglessonssothatourstudentslovetocometoschool.Ofcourseournon-teachingstaffarejustascommittedtoprovidingsuperbsupportandaframeworkthatallowsourteacherstoperform.OurstudentscontinuetogainfineresultsinNAPLANandotherexternaltests.TheseresultsareusuallywellinexcessofStateandNationalaveragesandmanyofourstudentsareatthehighestrangeofthesestandards.

Ourwholeschoolprofessionallearningthispastyearhascoveredprotectivebehaviours,giftedandtalentededucation,firstaidandresuscitation,sevenstepswritingprogram,futuristiclearningandclassroomsofthefuture.Inaddition,staffhavebeensupportedtoattendawidevarietyof individualprofessional learningopportunities.

TheappointmentofaGiftedandTalentedEducationCoordinatorhasledtoanextensionofGATElearningprogramsforourmosttalentedstudents.StudentshavehadtheopportunityofparticipatinginTournamentoftheMinds,UWAextensionprogram,ChessClubandanumberofotheractivities.OurnewassociationwithMensahasalsoprovidedfurthersupportandopportunities.

Theschoolcontinuestoseekfeedbackfromparents, teachersandstudentsthroughavarietyofmeans.This feedbackandourstableenrolmentsconfirmthattheschoolcommunityisveryhighlysatisfiedwiththeeducationalprogramprovided.Over90%ofnewenrolmentsarerecommendedbyeithercurrentorpastparentsandthisspeaksvolumesfortheQuintilianeducationalexperiencethatourstudentsreceive.

ThisyearinconjunctionwithIntersectCommunications,wedevelopedandlaunchedournewwebsitetoveryfavourablereviews,aswellasproducingvideotestimonials,creatingoursocialmediapagesonFacebookandInstagram.Newsignagewasalsoinstalledatkeypointsaroundtheschooltoensureourlocalcommunityareawareofourlocation.

TheEventsCommitteecontinuestohaveagreatimpactonthelifeofourschoolwiththeirorganisationofanamazingarrayofevents.TheTriviaNight,ChristmasCarolseveningandScitechfamilynightwereallexceptionaleventswithhundredsofpeopleinattendance.Thestrongcommunitysupportoftheseeventssaysagreatdealaboutthetypeofschoolwehave.IoffermysincerethankstotheEventsCommitteeforyourtirelessworkwiththeseactivities.

OtherannualhighlightsincludetheverypopularRottnestFamilyWeekendCamp,ourWelcomePartySundowner,Mid–WeekMunchies,DisconightsandtheEarlyLearningCentreGallerynight.

IwishtothanktheStrategicPlanningSub-committeeofparentsandstaffwhoworkedformanymonthstogetthisplaninplace,whichnowguidesthefuturedirectionofourschool.AsmallgroupofcommittedteachersdevelopedournewSocialandEmotionalLearningFrameworkforuseacrossourschool.Thisframeworktiestogetherourcurrentpracticeswithanumberofnewinitiativesforthefuture.

Ourextra-curricularclubsandactivitiesprogramcontinuestooffernewandexcitingactivitiesforourstudentstogowithourregularofferings.Thisprogramincludesactivitiessuchastennis,soccer,floorball,netball,KidsNSport,runningclub,robotics,makinggokarts,constructionclub,choir,dramaclub,tournamentofmindstonameafew.Ourmusictuitionprogramcontinuestoofferawiderangeoflearningexperiencesfromviolin,guitar,piano,drumstorockbands.

Attheendof2017,wesadlysaidfarewelltoanumberoflong-termemployeeswhowereeitherretiringormovingontonewadventures.LisaRyder,LizaHender,BarbieThomas,DionneSaddikandRodDurstonallmadeasignificantimpactonthelifeofQuintilianSchool;andourstaff,parents,currentandpaststudentswillalwaysrememberthemveryfondly.IamsuretheirtiestoQuintilianwillremainstrong.

IwouldliketothankallmembersoftheBoardfortheirmanyhoursoftirelessworkinthegovernanceofQuintilianSchool.WehaveaveryprofessionalBoardwithawiderangeofskillswhotaketheirroleveryseriouslyandalwaysactinthebestinterestsofourschool.

IhavebeenfortunatetoknowandworkwithourBoardChair,PeterRobinson,forthepastfouryears.PeterhasspenttenyearsatQuintilianandformostoftheseyears;hehasbeenonourSchoolBoardwithmanyasChair.Hehasbeeninstrumentalinensuringsoundgovernanceofourschoolandhehaspersonallyprovidedgreatsupportandcounseltome,aswellastootherstaff.Peter,onbehalfofeveryoneatQuintilian,IthankyouforyourfantasticcontributiontoourschoolandIwishyoumany,manyyearsofhappinessandgoodhealthinthefuture.Neil Collins

Following on from the successfulQuintilian 40th birthday celebrations in 2016the Board elected to formalise the Quintilian School Events Committee. AnEventsCommitteeCharterwasdevelopedoverthesummerholidayandacallforcommitteemembersmadeinearlyFebruary.TheBoardalsofeltitimportantthata current BoardMember, Chair the committee to ensure good communicationbetween the Board and Events Committee and also giving the Committee theautonomy it needed. A teacher representative was also requested. Sue-anneMunckton accepted the role as Committee Chair, Rebecca Potts as the staffrepresentativeandCarolynLilleyandVonaSmithasparentvolunteers.

WithamoreformalisedapproachtomeetingsandprocessestheCommitteesetto work on an Events Proposal which was tabled and accepted in full by the School BoardinMarch2017.Themainobjectivesfor2017being:

1. Theplanningofqualitycommunityeventsthatwerespeciallyaddressingtheethosoftheschool.Theseeventsweretobebothfreeandticketed.Thewidercommunityaswellastheschoolcommunityweretobegivenasmanyvariedopportunitiestoattendtheseevents.

2. There-introductionoffundraisingeventsandactivitiesfocussingonspecificitems/ideasmarketedtothecommunityassuchwithsetgoalsandstrictmonitoring.Thecommitteewastoconductthefundraisingandworktowards2projects-thereplacementofthecurrentschoolkitchenfridgeandfreezeranddevelopmentofthemainschoolplayground(newfort).ItwasnotedthatfundraisinghadbeenremovedfromtheClassRepsresponsibilitytwoyearsagoandallfundraisingwastobecoordinatedbytheEventsCommittee.

TheEventsCommitteealsoinstigatedthefollowingin2017:

Community Events for 2017:

QuintilianWelcomeBackParty–AlthoughthethreedayspriortothiseventsawtheheaviestrainsinPerthfor70yearsarecordcrowdattendedtheWelcomeBackPartyfor2017.SpinningandbumpingZorbBalls,abouncycastle,animalfarm,sideshowgamesandaspecificareaforourlittlerfriendsmadeforafunevening.Drinksandfoodwerealsoavailable,andagreatnightwashadbyall.

RottnestFamilyCamp–AsalwaysRottnesttriestochallengeuswithsomerainyweather.However, itdidnotdeterover100extendedfamiliesandstafffrommakingthetripthisyear.ThereweresomenewactivitiessuchasaFridayNightGameofPuttPuttforfamiliesandatouroftheislandbybus.ThetraditionalQuokkaHuntwasofcourseheldwithstaffandBoardMembersthisyeartakingonanAussieThemedDressUpandChallenge.Justaswe thought the rain would defeat us the clouds parted and the sun shone, giving wayto a wonderfulSaturdayafternoonoffunandcommunity.SandcastlesweremadeallafternoonbeforemanylefttoattendsmallerBBQsandgatherings.

Theselfiecompetitionwasagainagreathitbutthistimewithaslighttwistasyouneededtoincludethe‘Q’inyourpic.Wealsointroduceda“QuintessentialQuintilian”PhotoCompwhichwereshowntotheschoolatassemblyuponourreturn.Itwasagreatwaytocapturetheessenceofourweekendawaytogether.

Scitech –BackbypopulardemandweagainbookedoutScitechforaQuintilianeveningoffun.Nearly200studentsandtheirfamiliesattendedthiseventwhereabarwasintroducedforthefirsttimetogreatfeedback.Thiswasaticketedeventwherecolddrinksandpre-orderedfoodwerealsoavailable.

100 Day Breakfast –Fromdayoneoftheschoolyearwestartedcounting.Every10daysaclasswasresponsibleforaddingtheir‘numberof10’tothedisplayboardinthemusichall.100daysofschoolfelljustafterthestartofTerm3andaPancakeandPJsbreakfastwasheldforstudents,familiesandstaff.Over300breakfastswereservedwithmanyfamiliestakingadvantageofahotcoffeeandbreakfastbeforeheadingofftowork.Thestudentswere also able to have their faces painted with the number 100! A special assembly was then held to celebrate all the amazing things the school had done and places visited in 100 days.Thiswasa freeschoolcommunityeventandsawmanyparents (particularlyDads)takeadvantageofabreakfastandcatchupbeforethedaystarted.

• Feedback from the school community on events through post event feedback forms which saw agreatreturnofcommentsandsuggestions.

• CommunicationtotheschoolthroughClassRepsandarostersystemforeventswhichprovedsuccessfulthroughouttheyear.

• AdedicatedEventsemailaddresswasestablishedandused foralleventcommunication for2017.

• A clear delineation was made for expenses and costs between events and Year 6 Campfundraising.TheSchoolDiscosandMid-WeekMunchiesarefortheYear6Campfundraising.

FundraisingEventsandActivitieswereconductedeachterm:• Term1-MushroomBoxes.• Term2-EntertainmentBooks(commencedinTerm1).• Term3-TriviaandGamesNight(alsoanadultonlyEventjustforfun!).• Term4-50/50Raffle-firstprize$5000.• FreezingFridays-eachFridaythroughouttheyear.

Trivia and Games Night –Although initiallyplannedasa fundraisingeventitsoonbecomeobviousthattheQuintilianParentsloveadressupandtotallytookonaself-perpetuatingcompetitiontobethebestthemed tableon thenight.Games, puzzles, competitions anda fewroundsofquestionsmadeforafunnightwhereknowledgeandluckwereputtothetest.Thiseventwasheldofftheschoolgroundsandprovedtobewellworththeefforttodoso,withmorepeopleabletoattendanda ‘bigger’atmospherecreated.The“ClownsRunning theShow”werejoinedbyrockstars(deadandalive),80’spromkingsandqueens, trophy statues, many many Neil’s and Rebecca’s, PresidentTrump,somescrabbletilesandgangsters-justtonameafew.Thiswasaticketedeventwith foodanddrinksavailable.A silentauctionwasalsoheldwithover$20,000inprizesanddonationsreceivedfromthewidercommunity.

Twilight Carols and Christmas Market –WhatawaytofinishtheEventsCalendar for 2017!!!! Early in term 2 plans were well underway for the MarketandCarols.AChristmasClubofYear4to6’swasestablishedandrunbytheEventsCommittee.Inaddition,everyclassintheschoolhadtheircrafttalentsusedandmadecontributionstothemarketstalls.MusicMichelleandMichaelBashamfromOnTheRunMusicworkedonthesongsforthenightwiththeviewtoincorporatetheworkintoalreadyallocatedmusiclessons.Alltheplanningculminatedinawonderfulnightof

communityandsong.Themarketcameclose tosellingout,hot foodandcolddrinksflowed,andvoicesraisedtheroofoftheundercoverarea.AllQuintilianstudentsfrompre-kindytoyr6tookpart.AdditionalperformancesweremadebytheSchoolChoir,anespecially developed Marimba and Xylophone Ensemble, a current and ex student band and special guests including a Christmas Fairy, Elf, Rudolph, Frosty and Santa all resulted inawonderfuleveningandaperfectendtoafabulousyearofevents.Thiswasafreeeventextendedtothewidercommunity.

At the end of the year taking into account all expenses for all events and costs incurred (incl.longterminvestmentpurchasesofequipment)afigureof$14,916wasraised.

Both the planned school kitchen fridge and freezer were purchased in 2017 and the SchoolPlaygroundFortwillbebuiltintheholidaysattheendofTerm1.Fundsraisedin 2017 have covered the costs of the fridge and freezer with a contributionmadetowardstheschoolfort.Fundraisingwillcontinueinto2018andbeyond(asrequired)forthepurposeofreplacingthecapitalexpenditurecontributiontothefort.Itwasfeltimportantthatthecurrentcommunitybenefitfromtheseitemsiftheywereundertakingthefundraisingandvolunteerworktowardstheitems.

ThankyoutotheEventsCommitteeteamandallwhovolunteeredtheirtimethisyeartohelpmakethe2017Eventscalendarsuchasuccess.

Early Learning Cluster - Mel Rayment

TheLowerClusters(Year1–3)andELC(PK–PP)joinedforcestocreatetheEarlyLearningCluster(PK–Year2) in2017.Throughaplay-basedprogram,wefocusondeveloping thechildren’ssocial,emotional, literacyandnumeracyskills.Ourteachingteamworkcollaboratively,meetingformallyonceafortnightandcasuallywhenneededtoensurethereisconsistencyacrosstheyeargroups.

We follow the Western Australian and Australian Curriculum and incorporate the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) outcomes. We always endeavourto program play-based activities and real life experiences that will consolidate,extendandenhancethechildren’sunderstandingofthelearningareas.Theclassesregularly attend incursions, excursions and a year group camp for Year 1and2,whichisalwaysahighlight.

Asaclusterwefeel it is importanttoprovideopportunitiesfortheparentsandchildrentoconnectasawholegroup.InTerm2theEarlyLearningClusterheldaGatheringontheGreen,allowingtheparents,childrenandteachers,fromacrossthe year groups, to socialise togetherona Friday afternoon.Mother’sDay andFather’sDaywerethenexttwoclustereventstoprovidethissocialopportunity,aswellasensuringthechildrenpamperthespecialpeopleintheirlives.Asalways,theSportsCarnivalwasheld inTerm4.All thechildrenenjoyedparticipating intherunningraces,relaysandtraditionalballgames.IntheStaff/Parentrelayandgames,theparentswerethevictorsthisyear,winning3outof3events.Itisalwaysafriendlyandfuncompetition.

EachyearitiswonderfultoseethePre-KindyandSheddieschildrensettlingintotheirdailyroutines.ThePre-Kindyplaygroundareawasrevampedwithsoftfallgroundcovering,creatingamoreusefulspace.ThePre-Kindychildrenalsoenjoyedgoingoutontheirfirstschoolexcursiontoalocalparkforaplay.TheSheddiesparticipatedinmanyincursionsfrommusictowoodworkandwentoutonavarietyofexcursionsincludingtheAviationMuseum,Remida,BrownesDairyandvariouslocalparksforplaysandpicnics.

TheOutdoorClassroomexcursionsandtheintroductionofthePre-PrimarysleepoverwerethehighlightsofPre-Primaryin2017.ThePre-PrimariesenjoyedOutdoorClassroomexcursionsonceafortnight,providingthechildrenwithavarietyoflearningexperiencesfrompaintingatCityBeach,bushwalkingatBoldPark,beachcombingatBathersBeachtogettingstuckinthemudattheSecretGarden.ThechildrenwerealsoluckyenoughtovisitthePoliceAirWingandBrownesDairy.WecelebrateddifferentculturesthroughcookinganItalianfeastonHarmonyDay,participatinginanamazingRussianincursionandlearningaboutdifferentcelebrationsaroundtheworld.However,themostexcitingeventwasthePre-Primarysleepover.Thechildrenenjoyedpreparingtheirdinnerduringtheday,goingoutforanafternoonpicnicthenreturningtoschooltowatchamovieandsleepintheirindividualtepees.Thechildrenwerefantastic!

InYear1thechildrensettleinto‘bigschool’routinesandenjoyplayinginthebigplaygroundduringrecessandlunchtimewithalltheyeargroups.WhileYear1istraditionallyknownasthebeginningof‘formal’school,ourYear1’sincorporatedtheEYLFoutcomesandensuretherearemanyplay-basedactivities.TheYear1’sengageinthelocalcommunitywiththeirYearNineHaleSchoolbuddies.ThisinvolvestheHalestudentsvisitingtheYearOneclassroomonceaweekandassistingtheirbuddyduringindoorandoutdooractivities.

Throughout the year the year ones have also enjoyed many incursions and excursions including Caversham Wildlife Park, the State Library, Indigenous ProgramatKingsPark,treeplantingatMtClaremontandaWormFarmWorkshop.Thechildrenattendtheirfirstcampandforsomechildrenthisistheirfirsttimeawayfromhomefortwonights.OurYear1CampwasheldatWoodmanPointandthechildrenhavesaidthatthiswasthehighlightoftheyear.Thepurposeofourschoolcampsistodevelopthechildren’sindependence,resilience,confidenceandfriendships.Theyprovidethechildrenwithanopportunitytobuildontheirskillsandpersonaldevelopmentbychallengingthemwithmoreadventurousactivities.

WhileYear2becomesgraduallymoreformaltheystillhavemanyhands-onlearningactivities.SomeofthehighlightsthisyearhavebeencreatingarecycledartpieceatRemida,visitingtheShipwreckMuseumforanoldendayschoolexperienceandlearningaboutfiresafetywiththevisitingPerth

FireFighters.TheyalsoenjoyedparticipatinginMartialArtsandYoga.DuringTerm4theclasswent to visit their pen pals that they wrote to throughouttheyearatJohnWollastonPrimarySchool. This is a wonderful opportunity forthe development of the children’s literacyand social skills throughparticipating in a reallife experience. With the experience of Year1 Camp, the Year 2’s are always excited andreadyforactionwhentheyattendcampatErnHalliday. Thepirate gameand kitemaking aresomeoftheirfavouriteactivitiesoncamp.

As a cluster, our goal is to send the children into Year3andbeyondwithconfidence,enthusiasm,a solid understanding of the basic literacy and number skills and most importantly, a love of learning.

In 2017, the Upper Primary Cluster team was comprised of Anne Lavin (Yr 6), Susan Beilby and RebeccaPotts(Yr5),SusanWellingtonandLisaThomas(Yr4).Year3joinedtheUpperPrimaryclusterthisyearwithJimO’Raw.

The teamendeavours tomeetevery fortnight todiscussavarietyofeducational issues thatimpactteachingandlearninginYears3-6.Theteamdiscussesavarietyofrelevanttopicswhichinclude;contentandteachingstrategies,curriculum,assessmentandreporting,differentiatingteachingtomeetspecificneedsofstudents,LiteracyandNumeracystrategiesaswellasspecificfocusareaswithinthecurriculumandspecialconcernsforindividualstudents.

TheUpperPrimaryClusterworkverymuchasateam;offeringongoingsupporttooneanotheraswellasprofessionalreflectionandvisionforcreatingthebestpossibleeducationalexperiencesforourstudents.Thecoordinatorsworkcloselytogetheraswelltohelpdevelopwholeschoolinitiativesthatareappropriateacrossthewholeschool.

InSemesterOne,theteamcontinuedtoworkontheassessmentdatabase,decidingonthebestpossiblediagnosticassessmentsacrossNumeracyandLiteracytohelpteachersdetermine

individual student abilities as well astheir needs at the commencement of theyear.PrimeMathscontinuedtobea focus area across the year groups as itisstillrelativelynewtotheschool.ThroughLisaandJim’shardwork,STEMbecamemoreestablishedandafterschoolclubswereofferedeverytermforUpperPrimarystudents.

Onceagain,UpperPrimaryparticipatedintheplantingofseedlingsatClaremontLake and classes across Year 4-6 attended the Perth’s Writer’sFestivalearly intheyearaspartof their Literacy program. ECUPractice Students were placedin classes across the school with fourinYears4,5and6.

Years3and5attendedthePerthGardenFestivalaswellasmanymore wonderful excursions, programsandactivities.

In Semester Two, the team focused on Health and together with Lower Primary,implementedawholeschoolHealthProgramthatfocusedonbothProtectiveBehavioursand Positive Psychology (the emotional and mental wellbeing of students). Students

acrosstheschoolparticipatedinbasicFirstAidtrainingaswellastheQuintilianSportsCarnival.

Upper Primary extended the carnival into the afternoon, bussing the olderchildrentoMcGillivrayOvalforadditionalrunningeventsandactivities.LikeLowerPrimary, the Upper School enjoyed working with Music Michelle and Madame Nell as they prepared to sing Christmas Carols in both English and French at the TwilightCarolEvening.

Jim took on an ECUPractical Student in Term4 while Years 4-6 had their classcampsinTerm3.Likethe previous semester,

SemesterTwocomprisedmanyotherfantasticexcursionsandactivitiesincludingrocketlaunchinginYear5andtestingeggcapsuledesignsbyreleasingthemofftheDNATowerinKing’sPark.,

2017wasanextremelybusy,veryexcitingyearbutwewouldexpectnothinglesshereatQuintilian.

Theaccountsfortheyearended31December2017,auditedbyStielowBellandAssociateshavebeencertifiedasshownintheextractfrom theAudit Report on the next page. A summary of key data contained in the financial statements has been extracted and ispresentedintabularandgraphicalformshowingcomparisonswiththeprioryear’sresult.

Thebudgetwasdeterminedbasedonabreak-evenoutcomeandascanbeseentherewasasurplusof$177,000,duetocontainmentofcoststogetherwithabovebudgettuitionfeeandgrantincome.Thenumberofstudentsexceededexpectationswithafinaltotalof230studentsandtheFederalGovernmentunexpectedlyagreedtoextendtheUniversalAccessGrantforKindergarten.

AsfarastheBalanceSheetisconcerned,currentassetshaveincreasedby$310,000,whilenon-currentassetsreducedby$158,000givinganetincreaseof$152,000.TheincreaseincashreservesmayenablereductionoftheANZLoan/Overdraftfacility,establishedin2016toassistwiththeTeaching/AdministrationBlockrenovation.Aftermonitoringduringfirsttermof2018,adecisionwillbemadeonrepayment.
