Awarded with ‘University of the Year’ by FMPCCI, Jagran Lakecity University, (JLU Bhopal) is a
center of quality and excellence in higher education and a vital part of the city of Bhopal. Its state-of

Greetings!
I welcome you to the ‘University of the Year-2017, as awarded by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan and ‘No.1 Private University in M.P.’, by Education World Rankings 2017-18, also being one of the most awarded Universities of the State.
I recall and cherish the philosophical zest and zeal of our Founder, Chancellor Shri Hari Mohan Gupta and my deeply spiritual interactions with him over the past many years that brought me back to India for setting up the University. Indeed it was his bold vision, infinite passion and inspired leadership that Jagran Social Welfare Society had embarked on a mission to ‘Ignite Minds and Change Lives’ through quality education in the very heart of India more than two decades back. I am proud to state that it is this legacy that University has achieved newer milestones every year.
There is no doubt that the quest to make this dream a reality and to take it forward has been possible because of the dynamism, dedication and drive of the CEO, Shri Abhishek Mohan Gupta and a league of outstanding individuals that include the faculty, staff and also the students who have made us what we are. • JLU Chair of Criminal Law and Criminal Justice, SOL and Advocate Ram Jethmalani has signed
an MoU to honor the valuable contribution by legendary jurist Mr. Ram Jethmalani in the field of
Criminal Law and Jurisprudence.
• JLU in collaboration with Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs has set up a ‘Centre of Excellence
in CSR’ to create a conducive environment enabling climate for Indian businesses to pursue
social responsibility goals.
• JLU has signed an MoU with the University of the Arts London, to run a joint Degree Programme
in Advertising and Public Relations at UG and PG level. The students under this programme will
spend a semester at the University of the Arts London campus with full credits and certification
along with global exposure and intensive industry engagement.
• JLU has signed an MoU with University of Lincoln which is among the top 10 Universities in UK,
to offer the Journalism programme wherein each student spends a semester at the University of
Lincoln’s campus UK.
• JLU has signed an MoU with Sheffield Hallam University UK to offer courses in Journalism and
facilitate student exchange between the two Universities.
• JLU has partnered with Ernst & Young to incorporate EY’s Six Sigma Certification Programme in
JLU’s MBA. Upon successful completion of an MBA Programme in HR, marketing,
Entrepreneurship or/ finance, a student will also get a Six Sigma Certification EY.
• JLU has partnered with University College, London ranked 7th in QS World University Rankings
to facilitate the learning for Executive MBA students who get to study a semester at UCL
campus in London as a part of the Programme.
• JLU has partnered with Imperial College London to offer Summer School Programmes at
Imperial College’s campus in London.
• JLU has signed an MoU with Kingston University, London to offer Programmes in Engineering
and Humanities & Arts. The MoU will facilitate student exchange and knowledge sharing
between the two Universities.
• JLU has entered into an MoU with the Association of Universities of Asia Pacific (AUAP) for
student Exchange Programme and Academic Cooperation with all the member Universities.
• JLU entered into an agreement with Guizhou University, China on 26 July, 2015 to enhance
relations between the two Universities by developing academic co-operation and exchange of
information with respect to academic research, teaching and learning
• JLU has entered into an MoU with United Nations Association of Australia for exclusive
delivery of their Corporate Governance and Sustainability Programme in India.

• JLU has entered into an MoU with Carnegie International arm of Carnegie Mellon University to
jointly deliver their software development programme under our School of Engineering &
Technology in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
• JLU has entered into an MoU with Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK for
exclusive delivery of their programmes in India.
• JLU has entered into an MoU with Steinbeis University to establish JLU-Steinbeis Centre for
Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The University will also be offering a two continent MBA under
this partnership.
• JLU has entered into an MoU with Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) for
delivery of professional qualifications of CIMA through JLU Bhopal.
• JLU Bhopal and SIAS International University, China have signed an MoU to facilitate student
and faculty exchange programmes and joint research in India & China.
• JLU and CII Young Indians Bhopal Chapter have signed an MoU to launch the Student Net
programme in the University.
• JLU Bhopal and KPMG India have signed an MoU under the School of Commerce and
Economics to run a professional regular three year B.Com (Hons.) degree in Accounting
Practice. This degree is jointly taught by KPMG Professionals and faculty from JLU Bhopal.
• JLU has signed MoU with the World Federation of United National Associations (WFUNA) for
promoting educational initiatives working towards a stronger United Nations.
• JLU has entered into an MoU with University of West Los Angeles (UWLA) under its School
of Law.
• JLU has signed an MoU with APS Mechatronik, Germany to establish the Applied Robot Control
for Industrial Automation Lab in JLU Bhopal.
• JLU has signed an MoU with Euro Synchronization to establish the “Applied Robot Control for
Industrial Automation” Lab in JLU Bhopal.
• JLU partners with Global Forum on Law, justice and Development, a World Bank initiative.
• JLU has signed an MoU with RMIT University Melbourne to facilitate student and faculty
exchange of academic materials, participation in seminars & academic meetings, special short
term programmes & projects and collaboration as research partners in the Centre for Pavement
Excellence Asia Pacific (CPEAP).

• Nimish Arjaria, student of BBA LLB (Hons.) had the golden opportunity to intern at the
Chambers of the legend of law Shri KTS Tulsi.
• He also participated in the Parliamentary Debate Competition and Won the ‘Best Adjudicator’
Award at the Fifth National Law Festival ‘Lex Bonanza’ 2016, organized by Indian Institute of
Law, Indore.
• He also presented a paper titled ‘Cyber Security and Protection Issues in India’.
• Ugyen Phuntsho Rabgay, an international student from Bhutan studying BA (Journalism & Mass
Communication), was invited to 15th Dhaka International Film Festival and was also one of the
key participants to ‘Dhaka Cine Workshop’. Ugyen led a team from Bhutan with two young
filmmakers and was also the jury member for the children’s cinema for 15th Dhaka International
Film Festival.
• Nidhi Sharma, Student of BBA.LLB (Hons.) has presented a paper titled “Nuclear Energy and
Sustainable Development: Environment Sustainability and Economic Sustainability in the two
day National Seminar held at National Law School of India University, Bangalore.
• Tanya Sharma, BA.LLB (Hons.) presented a paper titled “Nuclear Energy and Sustainable
Development Environment Sustainability and Economic Sustainability” in the two-day National
Seminar held at National Law School of India University, Bangalore.
• Shailendra Thakur, BBA, LLB (Hons) showcased his exquisite dramatic skills at an event held
at Antarang, Bharat Bhawan on 21st April. 2017. The event titled ’Shakespeare is Everywhere’
was organized by Club Literati to pay homage to the drama genius William Shakespeare on his
453rd birthday.
• Sanam Khan, student of BA (Hons.) Psychology at JLU School of Humanities & Arts published
an article titled ‘CSR Strategy for Heritage Restoration’. In the magazine ‘JNICSR Times’
published from Jawaharlal Institute of Corporate Social Responsibility, New Delhi.
• Aman Sharma, Pratyusha Sen and Anumeha Singhai, Law students represented the University
as a team at 4th Shri Mangilal Pragaria Memorial International Moot Court Competition 2016
organized by MATS Law School, MATS University, Raipur.
• Harleen Kaur B.Com, LLB (Hons) and Chandrika Raghuwanshi BBA, LLB (Hons) presented a
paper titled “The Real Cyber Wars” at a National Seminar on ‘Virtual Realities and Emerging
Inequalities’ organized by Army Institute of Law, Mohali.
• Aadya Jaroliys student of BA.LLB (Hons.) got her article ‘Kashmir-Surrounded with Violence’
published in the popular newspaper The Hitavada.
• Anushree Saxena and Suji Pillai jointly presented their paper titled ‘Protection of Intellectual
Property in Cyberspace’.

Declaratio Meritum to Shri Bibek Debroy, the famous Economist and Author par excellence, on the
conferment of Doctorate Honoris Causa (Honorary Doctorate), on this second day of December 2017.
Jagran Lakecity University, Bhopal presents this citation, having unanimously resolved to confer the Honoris
Causa (Honorary) Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters upon Shri Bibek Debroy.
Shri Bibek Debroy was born on 25th January, 1955 in Shillong, Meghalaya in a well educated family. He was
appointed the Chairman of the newly set-up “Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM).”
When the present Government of India established the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog)
in January 2015, Mr. Debroy was appointed a member of NITI Aayog. He has also been the head of the panel
for restructuring of Indian Railways. Shri Debroy brought out a final report seeking to appoint an independent
regulator, also doing away with the practice of separate Rail Budget.
Shri Bibek Debroy’s past positions include the Director of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary
Studies, Consultant to the Department of Economic Affairs of Finance Ministry, Secretary General of PHD
Chamber of Commerce and Industry and several other prestigious posts. In the past, Shri Debroy has taught
at Presidency College, Calcutta, Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, the Indian Institute of Foreign
Trade and the National Council of Applied Economic Research.
Shri Debroy has authored a ten-volume English translation of The Mahabharata. He also translated the
Bhagavat Gita from Sanskrit to English in 2006 and three volumes of Valmiki Ramayana, published in 2017.
He was awarded Padma Shri in 2015. He was awarded D. Litt. (Honoris Causa) by KIIT University in 2015 and
D. Phil (Honoris Causa) by Amity University in 2016. He was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by US-
India Business Summit in 2016.

on the conferment of Doctorate Honoris Causa (Honorary Doctorate), on this second day of
December 2017.
Jagran Lakecity University, Bhopal presents this citation, having unanimously resolved to confer the Honoris
Causa Honorary Degree of Doctor of Arts upon Master Chef Shri Imtiaz Qureshi, world’s grand chef, and first
chef to be conferred with Padam Shri in 2016.
Master Chef Imtiaz Qureshi was born on 2 February 1931 in a family of chefs in Lucknow in the Indian state
of Uttar Pradesh. He started his culinary career with his uncle before joining Krishna Caterers, a catering
company that served the Indian Army during the Sino-Indian War of 1962. After working at a few local
restaurants, he joined ITC Hotels in 1979 and served the hospitality chain at several of their locations, such
as Clark Hotel, Lucknow, and Maurya Sheraton, Delhi before becoming the Master Chef of the group. He is
single handedly responsible for the revival of Dum Pukht cooking to the world & creating Bukhara as a brand
for ITC Hotels.
Countless people around India and the world have experienced the magic of Master Chef Qureshi’s
inimitable right hand for decades. There are many more of his vintage and younger – including an
enormously talented new generation of innovative and articulate Indian Chefs.
The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honor, the Padamshree, in 2016, for his
contributions to culinary art, thus making him the first ever chef to receive the honor. Indeed his contribution
to the culinary, hospitality and cultural bonding of nation through food has inspired many across the globe.

Mr. Kapil Wadhawan is the Chairman of Wadhawan Global Capital (WGC) the Indian financial services
group spread across lending, insurance, asset management and wealth management businesses.
The group specifically focuses on inclusive finance and had AUM (assets under management) of over USD
20 billion.
Mr. Wadhawan took over the reins of DHFL, the group’s flagship housing finance company in 2000,
succeeding his father, Late Shri Rajesh Kumar Wadhawan. He was 27 and has just returned from Australia
after his MBA.
Over the past 18 years, under his leadership, the group has witnessed a meteoric rise from a mono-line
housing finance presence to becoming a $20 billion diversified financial services group that caters to the
customers complete lifecycle needs. He has initiated several Strategic Partnerships with some of the
world’s most respected financial institutions such as Prudential Financial (USA), GIC (Singapore) and ADB,
(headquartered in Philippines).
In the year 2010, he started a low-income segment focused company, Aadhar Housing Finance Ltd., in
association with IFC to continue the legacy that follows UN’s ethos of ‘Doing well by Doing Good’. The IFC
is the largest global development institution and a member of the World Bank group.
His philanthropic activities are noteworthy as well. He has guided the WGC group to craft an enduring
CSR vision to empower the underprivileged with the foundation of education. The group’s Changing Lives
Foundation, routinely supports children’s education through associations with organizations such as
Concern India Foundation (CIF), Mumbai Mobile Crèches (MMC), and Red Cross Society of India. He has
recently established the Rajesh Wadhawan Professorship for Development Economics at the Simon
Business School, University of Rochester.
