Dear Friend,

It has been a year filled with excitement and energy; it has also been a year filled with division and digression. Despite the setbacks to the work of many before us to advance women, we continue to find hope in those who forge ahead amidst the fires around them.

In my first two years at the Consortium, we have been enriched with feedback from the community that has guided us on a path that we continue to pave for Minnesota women. We've been fortunate to be joined on this path by leaders and advocates from various backgrounds and walks of life. The path is widened and extended as more join us toward a day when all women and girls have the confidence, freedom, and power to reach their full potential. This is just the beginning as we begin to build genuine relationships with community leaders who have been elevating women's voices. These relationships will be critical as we move forward in solidarity while embracing important assets we each bring. The disparities experienced by women, particularly Black women, Native American women and women of color, are a result of discriminatory systems. And as we break down those systems, we must do so at the individual, community, organizational and collective levels. As we look far ahead, we see many of you beside us and in front of us. It's not smooth and it's not straight, but it will not end under our collective leadership. We are in great appreciation of those who have joined us in this ambiguous time of exploration and building, and we invite others to join us. For those who await some solidity, we are thankful for your patience and guidance. What we know for sure is that we cannot do this alone, nor do we want to. The next few years, we will be "building the plane while it's flying." Does it sound scary? Without a doubt! But it also sounds like a wonderful opportunity to build one together that will take us to new heights and new destinations that advances equity and justice for all women! It is much appreciation that we share our progress, both good and bad, with all of you. As we are in this together, we cannot only celebrate successes, we must also acknowledge challenges and change what may be holding us back. A quote that is a personal favorite of mine stays with me everyday: "Falling down is a part of life; getting back up is living." I'm blessed to say that I get back up each time to an organization I greatly respect and a job I love. Thank you for all you do and for being on this journey with us. In Sincere Solidarity, Kabo Yang Executive Director 4
