Motion: St George Assn post the entire draw for the season before the first round. Teams regraded
will then use the draw from the team they replaced. Moved: Robert Gower (via email) Seconded: Scott Collins
No one spoke for the motion.
Against the motion Stuart Hitchcock: This is a major disadvantage to the clubs who have grounds to set-up and pack-up
and rely on their teams to do those tasks, so what happens if those are the teams which get
regraded. Jeff Baker: Would potentially create major draw issues if the regrades up/down were not paired.
There is normally one sided regrades, i.e. one team only goes up or down.
General discussion and debate took place from the floor regarding this motion.
Motion was defeated
Motion: The remainder of the draw is posted in the week after any possible regrade is performed. Moved: Laurie Barnes Seconded: Corey Sharpe
General discussion and debate took place from the floor regarding this motion.
Motion was carried
Discussion Point: Laurie Barnes and James Irving: Has requested the Committee to investigate the re-
introduction of the St George Winter Junior competition for the U14’s and U16’s.
Action Item: Stuart Hitchcock to send EOI to all clubs to gauge interest, also to consult with the CSJBA to ensure there is no cross-over between the two associations.

the long weekend in June or Oct. Laurie asked if Stuart could send out messages to the clubs for the various functions.

St George Baseball Association Inc 18 Annual Report : 2013 season
President’s Report This season has had a lot of challenges which I think we have overcome quite well. The Joint Venture discussions between the St.G.B.A. and the C.S.M.L.B.A. have been discontinued. The members voting for St George to continue as a separate identity, as it have for the last 99 years. St George Baseball Association will be 100 years old this year and I would ask for all clubs to submit some ideas as to how to celebrate this mile stone. The formation of the South Eastern Region Baseball Association has been put on hold for the time being. I think the competition has been run exceptionally well this past season with only a few hiccups. If you have any recommendations as to how it can be improved, your input would be greatly received. I would like to thank the Clubs and their committees for their hard work in preparing the grounds and providing canteen services. Please remember to support the canteens as the funds raised through the canteens provide better facilities for you to play on. To the hard working Executive Committee, my sincere thank you, for your continued hard work to achieve such a season. A thank you to the Umpires Association, on their difficulty job to supply umpires for all games with reduced personnel. Congratulations to the teams who achieved Grand Final wins, well done. To the other teams hope you enjoyed your season and good luck for the forthcoming season. Congratulations to the Comets Club on their wining of the Club Championship. It was sad to hear of the passing of Life Member, Norm Hord, as well as the Associations patron. I personally knew Norm for about 20 years and in this time I found him to always be there to give your good positive advice, never being negative. Vale Norm Hord R.I.P. Yours in baseball Tom Evans

Secretary’s Report
Congratulations to the Premiers of each grade, the MVPs, Club Champions & the individual winners of the Annual Perpetual Trophies, and a heartfelt thank you to the Umpire’s Association and the JDC for their tireless efforts and support during the 2013 season. To the Delegates who attend the meetings throughout the year and ensure that information is passed back to their respective Clubs - thanks for making the StGBA Executive’s job a little easier! To the grounds people, canteen workers, volunteers, coaches, managers, scorers and ‘general helpers’ (and their families) who continue to give freely of their time throughout the year - Thank you. Without these people we would not survive each season and their efforts are truly appreciated by the Committee and our Members. Please remember - each and every contribution, however small, is valuable. To my fellow Committee members, thank you for your efforts, it was definitely a learning curve again for me this year and your assistance was greatly appreciated by me. Without the Committee’s continued input and commitment in managing the Competition and the ongoing support volunteered to our Members, our Association cannot move forward. 2014 will bring with it a new set of challenges, but I know that those challenges will be met and overcome. It is also my hope for the upcoming season and beyond is that we continue to grow, both has an Association and as a resource for our Members. Good luck to all Clubs in the 2014 season and once again, thanks to all for your continued support. Stuart Hitchcock Hon. Secretary - STGBA

St George Baseball Association Inc 20 Annual Report : 2013 season
Registrar-Recorder’s Report The 2013 again saw the number of clubs and teams increase with 66 teams competing this season from 23 clubs, this is an increase of 1 club and 1 team from the previous season. With the increase in the number of teams saw the reintroduction of 9th grade. The number of players was comprised of 89 junior players and 729 adult players, giving a total of 818 players. With a continual improvement to the grading matrix, the teams are being graded more efficiently than previous seasons with only 8 teams being regraded, this is a significant improvement from the 14 teams graded in 2012. Further suggestions and improvements have been made to the grading process which will be adopted for any future competitions. Given the change by Baseball Australia to the web management software moving away from the solution provided by Bellevue IT to one managed by IMGSTG. This change will provide its own set of challenges moving forward.

St George Baseball Association Inc 21 Annual Report : 2013 season
Disciplinary Committee Report Again the average of eight [8] players ejected for the season was maintained, charges were evenly shared between Umpire Abuse, Umpire Dissent and Deliberate Collision. As consistent with previous years lower grade players made up the bulk of the ejection however we did have players from both 1st & 2nd grade also face the Judiciary. I repeat that the Judiciary take no pleasure in suspending players and thus affording them to miss game time, especially finals. However the committee review each charge on its merits and treat ejections exactly the same at the end of the season as we do at the start. We sincerely advise coaches to remind their players to ‘keep it together’ as the season draws to a close. The following is read to each player who faces the Judiciary Committee
It is the committees function to hold a fair and just hearing, it is not a court of law. You will be given an opportunity to fully state your position specific to the charge / charges brought against you. Each ejection / charge will be judged on its merits.
Note, the overriding commitment of the committee is to uphold the integrity of the St George Baseball Association for its Players, Umpires, Officials and Spectators.
There are established rules and guidelines for us to follow. If you are found guilty you have the right to appeal in accordance with the St. George Association Constitution.
This is read to ensure we have been following a consistent path. Thanks to John Bailey and Wendy Corey for their thoughtful contribution and support over the past few years and to all others who have served on the committee on a part time basis. I will not be nominating for this role this coming season. Russell Knight Chairperson Disciplinary Committee - STGBA

Umpires Association Report
The Umpires Assn was again pleased to provide our support to the StGBA for their 2013 season. Umpires were appointed to the maximum number of games possible from our available members and in many cases 2 umpires to games. Throughout the season it was appreciated that Player/Coach/Umpire on field discussions was generally resolved on the Diamond and not in front of a Judiciary Panel. Were this was unfortunately the result of the on field situations we thank the Judiciary Panels throughout the season for their prompt attention to the incidents and the consistent approach to the outcomes. We cannot report the season without again referencing the anti-collision scenario. Note: The responsibility to avoid a collision is on both the offensive and defensive players. The runner is entitled to the base and the fielder is entitled to make a play on the runner without being dangerously injured (the fielder can’t make a play without the ball). Basically beware of each other and avoid the collision. As umpires of the game we strive to provide you (the players) with a game of Baseball played competitively without interruptions and played for all participants (including spectators) enjoyment. Some Judgements may not seem to be the same judgement as other participants of the game see them but that is within the meaning of the word. Sorry can’t resist: “The umpires judgement is the right one” – we are all nodding our head here aren’t we. We would like to congratulate all participants involved in the season and of course all those teams that won the grand finals. The Umpires Assn is always striving to improve and increase our membership, If there are and players/supporters that have an interest to increase their Baseball knowledge/understanding and umpire some games (or just step up when we have not been able to provide one to a game you are at) just give your details to one of our members and we will contact you. There are many introductory courses held at various venues throughout the year and a more qualified 2 and ½ day session at Blacktown in July. We look forward to supporting you all again in the 2014 season. Geoff Ollerton Hon. President – STG-SBUA

St George Baseball Association Inc 23 Annual Report : 2013 season
Treasurer’s Report Attached please find the Financial Accounts for the St George Baseball Association Inc. as at 31st October 2013. Some notes on the Financial Reports are: Profit & Loss Income 1. Contributions to Maintenance
Previous year income from ASSSC actually comprised two payments of $5000 each, representing ASSSC’s contributions to the maintenance fund for 2011 and 2012. Both payments, however, were received from ASBC (not ASSSC).
A payment to the Maintenance Fund, from ASSSC, for 2013 remains outstanding and 2014’s payment is now due. This has adversely impacted total income, in the year being reviewed, by $5000.
Current year income from StGBA includes $2250 in ground payments for AP1 & AP2. In the previous year, these payments were retained in the General Account and not transferred.
Expense 1. AGM Expenses – Printing:
Last year was the first year we have paid for printing. Previously committee members used employers’ or their own resources to produce the Annual Report and it was felt that this was unfair to them.
2. Government Fees This figure is increased because the OFT wrote to us to request Annual
Returns for several prior years. These returns had been submitted but OFT charged us a fee for submitting them again ($56 x 6 reports).
3. Office Expenses
Previous year cost was for an ink cartridge for a printer. This year includes the cost of the Association’s email addresses and the cost of the Association’s Post Office box. A number of invoices had previously gone astray because of changes to the address used by the Association over a number of years. The Post Office box means we no longer need to change addresses with suppliers and Government bodies. Likewise, standardised email address for the Association mean a consistent method of contact with the Association, rather than using the incumbent’s personal email address.
4. Finals Series Increased costs for the Finals Series come down to increase numbers of
teams and an extra grade. There were more finals series games because of this, hence greater costs.
S T G E O R G E B A S E B A L L A S S O C I A T I O N I N C .
St George Baseball Association Inc 24 Annual Report : 2013 season
5. Phil Austin Expenses – Lease Costs
The lease cost of Phil Austin Fields is $2467.63 per year. In the previous year’s figures, two payments were made because the 2011 payment was outstanding, the invoice having been mailed to an incorrect address. This was one of the primary drivers behind getting the Post Office box; to prevent this happening again.
6. Phil Austin Expenses – Line Marking The current year figure is reduced over previous years because of the
reversion to using chalk to mark the lines (cheaper and better for umpires) and because AP2 was out of action of most of the season, reducing the
amount of line‐marking to be done. 7. Phil Austin Expenses – Topdressing/Aerating
This expense is in line with the lease agreement which stipulates the minimum maintenance we must perform on the grounds.
Balance Sheet
1. Current Assets ‐ General Account
The balance of this account is reduced by approximately $5000 because of a loan to a member club (see Other Current Assets – Loans to Members). The current loan in place is scheduled to be repaid in full by 1 May 2015 and payments are currently on track with the signed agreement.
2. Current Assets – Maintenance Account This account balance is lower than budgeted, by $5000, because the 2013
payment from ASSSC has not been received. This has also impacted on the “Net Income” figure, causing us to make a small loss for the year just completed.
3. Current Assets – Term Deposit The interest on the term deposit was not returned to us this year, but
reinvested when the deposit rolled over in July. A decision has been taken to close this term deposit account and move the funds into an “At Call”, but higher interest account. This will allow more flexibility with the use of funds, both into and out of that account.
Many thanks to all Club officials for their cooperation throughout the season in arranging payments in a timely fashion and much appreciation also to my fellow Committee members for their continued support in my role as Treasurer. Graham Grigg Hon. Treasurer – STGBA

Baseball Club
What a year! A very inauspicious start with a forfeit due to lack of players, then we started to get into the swing of things. When the season commenced and we were struggling for player numbers it was with great relief that the spirit of the club never waned. Every game was played with commitment and there was never any indication of players giving up. Over the course of the first month or so of the playing season we gained several new players and previous players happily pulled on the Rover uniform and returned for another run. We lost Mitch for a couple of months with injury; several others having the odd niggle with shoulders, knees and so on. It was a shame we had a run of wash outs and along with the wet weather we became a little rusty as a team. As the season progressed however, we started to regain our rhythm and wins came our way. With the freshness of some of the ‘new boys’ it really gave a spark to the side and the whole team had a great sense of camaraderie and purpose. We certainly were in there to win. The regular season finished with us just scraping into the top 4 and a semi-finals berth with a 6-6 win-loss and a narrow for-and-against percentage advantage. Some of the stars of our season were MVP Grant Heath, Players Player Nathan Seis and Rookie of the year Jake Muir. A very strong start in the semi-finals series, a great finals game and what do you know? Here we are in the Grand Final. Without labouring the point too much, Rovers got amongst the runs early and held on to the lead finishing with the Premiership silverware in hand – our 10th premiership - and a sense of well-deserved satisfaction in themselves at having played the season as well as they did. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank the Executive and Committee and Life Members for another year of unswerving service to the Club. Thank you also to the families and supporters who came along to cheer the players. This game is played hard off the diamond as well. Congratulations to you Rovers, the Winter 2013 6th Grade Premiers!

Bonnet Bay Sports Club
The 2013 Winter season saw the club field five teams in the St. George Baseball Association competition. With the NSWIS team again joining the competition the club fielded two first grade sides for the first time. Teams also played in 6th, 7th and 9th grades. We had a very successful year with all teams making the playoffs. Our two 1st grade sides performed with distinction this year with the Greg Phillips coached side making the preliminary final before bowing out and the Barry Hollis team qualifying for the Grand Final but failed at the last hurdle. Both the 6th and 9th Grade teams lost in the Preliminary Final with the 9th Grade side going down by the narrowest of margins. The 7th Grade team were successful in winning the Grand Final in a highly entertaining game. The teams toiled hard throughout winter which saw a lot of washed out games. The club continues with the construction of the top floor and should see sign of completion towards the end of 2014. There is much work still to be done. To our small band of trusty hard working committee thank you for your continued effort at the club. To the Association Committee, well done on another great season under trying conditions, your work is greatly appreciated by our club. The club will look forward to seeing our winter players return for another season of winter baseball. Go Beavers!!!! Jeff Baker Bonnet Bay Baseball Club

“The Blue Machine”
The ’13 season was one filled with optimism in the beginning with a few ex players returning to our ranks that would help to strengthen our 2nd grade roster. Unfortunately we had a lot of troubles with injuries to key players and work/family commitments made it difficult to get the same team on the field each week and be competitive. As a result, we finished second to last but that didn’t us having fun playing ball as a unit and enjoying the competition. Opposing sides played the game with great spirit and sportsmanship and umpiring was held to its usual exceptional standard. We would like to take an opportunity to thank the STGBA executive, Umpires Association, opposing clubs and all those who came to McLaughlin and enjoyed our facilities and support the club by spending money at the canteen. We thoroughly enjoyed the 2013 season and look forward to seeing you all next year. Sincerely, CBC

Comets
Baseball Club
Winter 2013 was another successful season for the Comets Baseball club taking out the Club Championship once again. We registered 121 players this season, (2012 Winter 109) including 112 Seniors and 9 Juniors with the youngest player being 14 and oldest being 83 and he was new to our Club this year. Comets were able field ten (10) sides. Six (6) sides made it through to the Finals, two (2) were Minor Premiers. 1st grade were triumphant and were crowned the Premiers for the second year in a row and our 8th and 9th grade sides fought strongly and were runners up. Well Done to ALL Teams. With the help and hard work of our members we were able to expand our grounds training facilities this year and officially open the Ray Maher batting cage. A great training asset for all our junior and senior players. Thanks to our very hard working Committee for all the hard work that they put in week in week out, they do this with only one thing to gain and that is to make us the best and they love the Club and wish to see it successful. Special thanks go to our grounds men Jimmy and Drew as our ground was open more times than other fields and we had very few wash outs at Jannali. The ground was always presented in the best playing condition every week. Thanks to the canteen staff of Larraine, Lauren, Angus and Daniel for keeping everyone well feed before and after the games and for running the Bar. The coaches and scorers for turning up every week and doing their best. We would also like to thank the St. George Baseball Association for their time and effort on a well run season and finally a big thank you to all the umpires and the disciplinary committee who provided their services through the season. Without your efforts our games will not be possible. To all Clubs thanks for your support... hope to see you all on the diamond next year. Scott Collins Secretary Comets Baseball Club

Illawong Baseball Club
For the 2013 winter season the Illawong Baseball Club entered five (5) teams in the StGBA competition, 4th, 5th, 2 x 6th and 9th grade. An increase of 2 teams from the previous season, and we expect the growth to continue. Four of the teams (4th, 5th and both 6th grades) progressed through to the finals, with the 4th, 5th and 6th (White) making it through to the grand final. Unfortunately, only 5th Grade was able to manage victory in a seesawing match where they won the game in the bottom of the last innings. To have such a high percentage of teams reach the finals was a fantastic effort. This season saw the club’s player base increase with several players returning to the sport after several years off and bringing friends along for the ride. Also we had more juniors moving up into the senior ranks. The club would also like to thank the family members of the players who helped out each week and came along and cheered, and ultimately allowed us to play each weekend. We would also like to thank the Umpires Association who, without their participation, we wouldn’t be able to play our games each weekend. Illawong Baseball Club would also like to thank the committee of the StGBA for their efforts in organising the 2013 winter competition and we, as a club, are looking forward to the 2014 season. St. George Junior
Baseball Club
The 2013 Winter season saw our club enter 4 teams into the competition. Whilst this was one team less than the previous year, it saw a number of our juniors taking the step into senior baseball. Our 1st Grade team was comprised mostly of players from the previous season’s 2nd Grade. The side was competitive through the season finishing the regular competition in third place on the ladder. At the business end of the season, the team found the opposition hot in the semi-final which was where the journey ended. The third grade side continued to play some good baseball with plenty of experience in the side. Experience is often confused with age, but in this case, there was some age as well as some very experienced youth. The team played a great game in the semi’s, and may have peaked a little early. Our 5th grade side found the going a little tough this season. The side had a mixture of youth, and plenty of experience. Between injuries and competition from other sports found this side needing to borrow players. However, they ventured onto the park each week and narrowly missed out on winning a few games. Our team in 6th grade was very much the same team as the previous season. Very much a family affair, this team enjoyed themselves and competed hard every week. Overall, a very enjoyable season and we would like to thank and congratulate the Committee of the StGBA on a well-run competition and we will be back next season to hopefully nudge a few more of those premierships. St. Pats
Baseball Club
The 2013 winter baseball season saw St Pat’s field 4 teams -- 5th Grade (x2 following a re-grade) and 7th Grade (x2). Once again it was pleasing to see several of our junior players progressing through to play senior baseball. It is a core vision of St Pat’s Baseball Club to ensure we encourage our junior players to continue playing so that as a Club we can continue to field teams in the senior winter, and summer, competitions. It was a bit of a struggle for our teams in season 2013 and for the first time in many, many seasons no St Pat’s teams made the finals. The prestigious Black & Green Award for season 2013 was a close contest with players from all four grades separated by single points at the final count. The winner was young D’Arcy Handley from our 7th Grade Black team. Thank you to the St Pat’s Committee for their on-going support of senior baseball. Thank you to all the players, managers, scorers and our loyal supporters. We look forward to seeing you all again for the 2014 season. On behalf of all St Pat’s players, thank you to the St George Baseball Association Executive Committee for putting together an enjoyable 2013 competition.
