Message We are committed to promote Sports and Games at all levels on the

campus with a two – fold objective. One is to help the students stay

physically fit and healthy and the other is to help the students to have

better understanding, better coordination and lead a meaningful life.

The talents of the students are identified and focused training is given

to them to excel in their performance. The efforts of the faculty of

Physical Education are laudable as our students have brought many

laurels to the Institution by winning a number of competitions. And it

is our wish to strive hard towards better excellence and ultimately

taking the Institution to the dizzy heights of excellence that is, placing

it in the national sports map of India.

Profile

The Department of Physical Education was established in the year 2007. The Department is

equipped with good infrastructure facilities and even in a short span of time the students were given

training in most of the sports and Games which led to remarkable achievements by our students in Zonal,

Inter-Zonal, District, State and National level Sports and Games.

To strive for excellence in the promotion of sports and games for the holistic development of the

students.

The department is committed to promote Sports and Games in the campus striving to make

students physically fit and enrich interpersonal skills besides advocating emotional and spiritual quotient

as a part of the students personality development programme.

Activities of the Department

Intensive coaching camps for (Men & Women) Athletics, Basketball, Ball Badminton,

Badminton, Boxing, Cricket, Chess, Handball, Football, Fencing, Hockey, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Power

lifting, Softball, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball, Weight lifting and Paralympics, were

organized prior to the Zonal and Inter-Zonal tournaments to help the students participate in Anna

University Zonal and Inter-Zonal tournaments.

All India Inter University Medal Winner

A.Apsara of IV- ECE won Bronze Medal in All India Inter University fencing tournament at

Punjabi University, Patilala

National Level participation:

Throw ball team:

The following BIT Throw ball Women players were selected for the Tamilnadu Women Throw

ball team & they participated in the 36th Senior National Throw ball Tournament held at Panipat

– Hariyana from 24.06.2013 to 27.06.2013.

The following BIT Throw ball Women players won the 18th Federation cup Throw ball

championship in Third place held at Kalpakkam from 31.01.2014 to 02.02.2014

The following BIT Throw ball Men & Women players participated in First National

Beach Throw ball Championship held at Kalpakkam from 31.01.2014 to 02.02.2014.

Boxing:

Stanly Raj, III year Pharmaceutical Tech. (Reg .No -810011237043) secured Gold

Medal in the State Level Boxing Championship and also participated in the National Level

Boxing Championship for Tamilnadu held at Salem from 25.07.2013 to 29.07.2013.

Fencing:

State Level participation

Five of Women Handball players were selected to participate in the Tamilnadu Inter – District

Handball Tournament held at Thiruttani from 09.08.2013 to 11.08.2013.

TIES ’14 Achievements

Our women Hand ball team has secured III position in the 32nd TIES’14 held at Kongunadu

Engineering College Thottiyam. This is the first trophy as the team achieved in the TIES.

Chess Women team won 7 matches, one draw and 2 lost in TIES’14 tournament.

Chess Men team won 5 matches, 2 draw and 2 lost in TIES’14 tournament.

D.Sankarlal of IV Mech, Secured III position in the 65 kg Weight lifting category in TIES’14.

S.Maniraj of II Auto, Secured III position in the High jump event in TIES’14 with the

performance of 1.80 meter.

G.Aswini of III Pharma, secured IV Position in the 5 km walk event in TIES’14.

Outstation Tournaments

Our BIT Campus participated out station tournament and Won 10 Trophies, (4-Winners,

3-Runner up and 3 Third places with 7 individual medals).

Sastra University Tournament:

Hand ball Men team secured III position at Sastra University Tournament.

Muruganantham from II year Mech, secured Gold medal in Best Physique 60 to 65 Kg cat.

Syed salik from IV Civil, secured Silver medal in Best Physique 65 to 70 Kg cat.

Shankarlal from IV year Mech, secured Bronze medal in Best Physique 55 to 60 Kg cat.

PITS Tournament:

S.Arun Prasad and M.Ravi Chandran III EEE, secured Gold & Silver Medal respectively in

EPEE event. B.Vibin and G.Thennarasan III / Mech secured Bronze Medal in Fencing Foil

event.

Our Badminton women team secured Runners – up.

State Level Tournament

Our Kho – Kho Men team secured Runners – up in the state level Kho-Kho Tournament at

R.C.Higher Secondary school from 07.12.2013 to 08.12.2013.

District level Tournament:

Handball players of our College won the Trichy District Handball Tournament organized by

SDAT Trichy in the month of September 2013.

Handball players of our College won the Trichy District Handball Tournament organized by

SDAT Trichy in November 2013.

Our Handball players secured Third Place in the CARE District level Handball Tournament

organized by CARE Group Institution, Trichy in February 2014.

G.Aswini – III / Pharma and A.Little Prasanna Soundari- III / Mech, participated in 10km

Roadrace conducted by Tiruchirappalli District Athletic Association and secured 11th and 12th

place respectively on 20.10.2013 at Anna stadium Trichy.

Our Department is a part of the organizing committee of Tamilnadu Blood Donation Camp

which won Guinness record.

Organized 3 days workshop on “The International society for the Advancement of

Kinanthropometry (ISAK)” from 09.04.2014 to 11.04.2014.

Intramural sports

Department of Physical Education organized intramural sports for our college students. The

first meeting of Inter-Department sports was held on 7th January 2014 3.00p.m at syndicate hall.

The Inter-Department tournament date was scheduled from 21st January 2014. The department

conducted 14th sports and games respectively Ball Badminton, Chess, Handball, T.T, Football,

Kho-Kho, Basketball, Boxing, Cricket, Badminton, Kabaddi, Hockey, Volleyball and Athletics for

men section and 15 sports and games Ball Badminton, Chess, Tennikoit, Handball, T.T, Football,

Kho-Kho, Throw ball, Basketball, Boxing, Cricket, Badminton, Kabaddi, Volleyball and Athletics

for women section. The Inter-Department sports started with Ball Badminton men & women and

ended with Athletics men & women. Almost 2000 students participated in the Intramural sports

men 1100 and women 900. It conducted sports and games for the staff members of AU- BIT

campus, also.

Sports Day

AU- BIT campus grandly celebrated Sports Day on 20th march 2014. The Chief Guest

Mr. Nizamudheen, former International Athlete honored us by his inspiring speech by distributing

prizes. He distributed 534 medals for the men section and 447 medals for the women section and

29 trophies for the students. March - past was also organized in the grand manner. Almost 450

contingents participated in the march-past including 390 students, 30 NCC contingents and

30 Police Band troop.
