She joined Lindsey’s Place this September and simply graced us with her presence. Alex is visually impaired. In her search to find somewhere to go have fun, independently where she could meet others with disabilities, she found us. “I loved it there. The other campers were so inspiring because they had so many neat stories and I loved getting to know them. I loved how the staff were so respectful of everyone and didn't talk down to us or treat us like we were less of a person because of our disability. I loved the food and I loved that everyone respected each other's values.” A professional highland bagpiper living independently in Savannah, Alex made a special announcement after performing for everyone at our camp weekend. She will be donating 10% of what she makes to Lindsey’s Place. Just one week later, a donation was made. “I love being a professional musician. It makes me happy because I love serving others.” Alex is a bright young lady and we are all grateful she found us. A graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead, she began playing music at age 11, and bagpipes at age 18. Although 100% visually impaired, Alex learned to memorize all her music and has an exceptional ear for tuning. You can learn more about Alex and all her gifts and community involvement on her website http:// www.highlandbagpiper.net . While there, you can also hire her for your next special event! Alex is planning on attending our next camp April 19th-21st. We are hoping she will play for us again! Open House will be April 20th 4-6pm. Volunteer CornerThis year Lindsey’s Place (LP) was given gifts from many people. We were very blessed to have well trained volunteers come all the way from England.

Well known to Kara Billingham, they were a real asset this Fall. Thank you to everyone who made their stay possible!

Our own Angela Johnson, who has been with us since the beginning, brought in some friends to tie-dye shirts this fall! So much fun! Thank you to the McGrath Family.

Another great gift were those who came in to cook for us. Not only was it a gift in-kind, but

each person helped create a sense of ‘home’ as the smells surrounded us during prep time. Mmmmm.

Alexandria, pictured above, was especially grateful for the vegetarian Chili!

Our fishing was a great success again! We always have volunteers come out to help. What would we do without you?

Gridiron Alumni, Bob, and Eddie too!In the Spring of 2012, an alumni football game was held in Savannah with two local rival teams, SCPS vs. BC. Some of the proceeds in

the amount of $3,000 were given directly to LP! Bob Johnson, we have you to thank for

suggesting LP. Thank you! Eddie Wilson, for bringing the suggestion to Gridiron. We are so grateful for each of you and all those at Gridiron Alumni!

One of our own, Adam Hart (shown below right, with son, Gage, and father, Jon) played in the alumni game.

Wells Fargo

Gives Again!A BIG Thank You again to our friends and supporters at Wells Fargo. Our campers have been benefitting directly from all your kindness and charitable giving. For 2012, Wells Fargo has granted LP with over $2,500!

It’s great to have the support of this great corporation. Thank you!

$5M Capital CampaignIn the summer of 2011 we launched our ‘Build a Home’ Campaign. With only $6,800 donated thus far, we are hopeful this campaign will be successful. Time is on our side but for our campers, we are working hard to make this happen in the most efficient and timely manner possible. Thank you for your efforts. You are a part of this dream now too!

United Way Winners and Wonderful Contributions!

In November 2011, our VP Donna Myers helped to raise $ and awareness through the United Way Basket contest for the second year in a row! The LP basket was put together by

Ms. Myers and all items were donated by Bobby Myers at JCB Roofing, a $1,000 value! The basket with the most votes (which cost $1) would WIN half the proceeds for it’s charity. We won AGAIN!!!

Through this fun event, the Myers Family, and donations made to the United Way in the name of LP, we have received $2,600 YTD from United Way donations designated to Lindsey’s Place. Thank you!

A Staff Baby is Born!In April one of our staff had HIS OWN little guy! Meet Baby JAC! That is...Jim Junior! Jim and Shelley, we are so happy for you both. Thank you for bringing JAC into the lives of everyone at LP!

Jim Chaplin works full-time at Abilities Unlimited in Savannah. He was discovered by one of our campers’ parents in 2010. He is great at what he does and is a real gift to all of us at LP.

Coastal Sports Club Gives to LP!

September 29th, 2012 we were honored for a 2nd year as a local charity by the Coastal Sports Club. A golf for charity event was put together by the club. One of our campers, Meredith, showed up to meet the golfers, and at the end of the day the club handed LP a check in the amount of $6,800! Coastal Sports Club is an amazing group and a blessing to us. Thank you for all you have done to help raise awareness and funding for LP!

Winter/Spring Fundraisers

Thank you to everyone who supported LP at Sandfly Sports Bar in February. We had such a great day! Because of your support and help from so many people, we raised $10,000 for our campers!

February 17th 2013 we are planning our next BIG fundraiser. Coach’s Corner is the place to be! Please keep us in mind for a good time and a great place to support. Thank you!

Kripalu Yoga RaffleHealth and Yoga lovers united in the Spring to give to LP. Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, located in Massachusetts, donated a 2 night stay worth $550. Kara Yoga in Hampton Bays, NY sold raffle tickets and helped raise $1,200 for LP. An additional raffle was held with donations from Gloria and Antonia Mennis and Kara Yoga, in which $285 was raised!

IKEA is Incredible!

This year we were graced with the gift of 3 camper scholarhips covered by IKEA. Not only did it help bring our campers who otherwise couldn’t afford it, but IKEA has decided to double the scholarship donation for 2013! We could not be more excited! Thank you to Dean Peterson and the IKEA family.

Annual Report 2012 6

In February of this year, we got news of the loss of a sweet little angel. Baby Murphy was born prematurely with severe complications due to a serious car accident his mother, Erica, was injured in while pregnant. The family was told Murphy would have cerebral palsy as a result. He fought hard to live. Just shy of one month old, God brought Murphy home.

Murphy’s parents, Erica and Caleb, heard about Lindsey’s Place (LP) while Murphy was being cared for in the hospital all those weeks. They felt a connection as it would have been a place of recreation in Murphy’s future.

Shortly after Murphy’s passing, Erica and Caleb asked friends and loved ones to donate to LP in his memory. The love from friends and family of the McKeel’s became evident very quickly. There is no doubt Baby Murphy was and always will be surrounded by a wonderful and loving group of people.

Since February, Lindsey’s Place has been blessed by our newest angel in Heaven. Murphy’s mother, Erica, has become one of our newest volunteers and she will stop at nothing when it comes to helping our campers. To describe her as beautiful is an understatement.

So, baby Murphy, we are grateful for your life. We are grateful for all the good you achieved in your short life. You brought people together. You taught us about love and gratitude, about our blessings and our strengths. To have known you is to know all the light you have brought and continue to bring. Thank you.

And to all the angels who gave in your memory, we thank you:

Inspiring Artwork

for SaleFrom February 12-24, 2012, Charlotte Botsford put together an art show at The Creative Coast Gallery in Savannah. Charlotte, a recent graduate of the SCAD program for photography, used Lindsey as her photo journalism piece. She followed Lindsey around for many months taking close range snapshots of the realities of a life

lived by a young lady born to live her life in a wheelchair.

The story unfolds to tell us that Lindsey Hart, an artist herself, was also born to make all those around her happy. Lindsey is a painter. The art show was a real treat for all to see as Lindsey’s paintings were placed throughout the show to accompany the beautiful photos taken by Charlotte.

Although no sales were recorded from the event, Lindsey continues to offer her artwork for sale as a donation to Lindsey’s Place. Pieces will be available to buy later this year via the Lindsey’s Place website.
