INTRODUCTION & PREAMBLE

Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises-Development Institute, Agra was

established in September 1956.Earlier it was known as Small Industries Service Institute after the Enactment of MSME Act in Parliament on 2 October 2006 its jurisdiction stretched for service sector & enhanced its services up to Medium Enterprises too. The geographical jurisdiction of this Institute has spread over 20 districts of Uttar Pradesh. The names of the district are as follows:

Agra, Mathura, Aligarh, Etah, Mainpuri, Firozabad, Mahamaya Nagar, &

Kanshi Ram Nagar Meerut, Bulandshahar, Bagpat, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Bareilly, Badaun, Pilibhit, Moradabad, Rampur, Bijnore, Jyotibaphule Nagar.

MSME-DI, Agra is extending techno managerial and economic Consultancy

services for the development of small-scale units and provides comprehensive range of industrial extension services ranging from identification of suitable line of production to marketing of the product. Facilities for Consultancy services are being provided in the fields of Mechanical, Metallurgy, Electrical, Leather & Footwear, Food, Glass & Ceramic, Metal Finishing and Chemical. Industrial Management, Statistical and Economic Investigation services are also available with the institute.

The objectives of MSME-DI, Agra, are to provide Technical Consultancy Services to the entrepreneurs in addition to Industrial Management Trainings, Entrepreneurs & Skill Development Programmes, Short Term Management Trainings for Small Scale Entrepreneurs, Industrial Motivational Campaigns, Implementation and Monitoring of PMEGP Scheme, Establishing of Entrepreneurs Club, Sub Contracting Exchange, Awareness on Assisting& Providing the Entrepreneurs in Marketing assistance through domestic & International Exhibitions , Quality Control & its up gradation and Ancillary Development. The Institute also provides Market Information, Industrial Potential Survey Report, Statistical Information, Identification of Thrust Industries, Export Promotion, Preparation of Directories & Status Reports of MSME units, Economic Information to set up small-scale units. This year Various Schemes under NMCP Scheme were Implemented/Introduced like Lean Manufacturing, QMS/QTT, Design Clinic, ISO-9000, Bar Coding , IPR, Small Tool Room Incubator Scheme.

ASSISTANCE / CONSULTANCY TO PROSPECTIVE ENTREPRENEURS

During the reporting year 2009-10, the MSME- Development Institute, Agra has provided assistance and Consultancy to about 56,928 prospective entrepreneurs. The assistance & Consultancy consists of various fields such as selection of product & location, which is more important in establishing a new venture in which 39,419 entrepreneurs has been assisted. Selection of machinery & Technology is also one of the inevitable thing to know before going for a new industry under which 12458 has been assisted Marketing & Finance is also one of the unavoidable thing wherein the Institute provided information and assistance to 31912 entrepreneurs. About 18709 entrepreneurs have been provided assistance and Consultancy through various trainings/campaigns and about 12,983 entrepreneurs were assisted through DICs and about 7416 entrepreneurs were assisted through other Agencies.

ASSISTANCE / CONSULTANCY RENDERED TO EXISTING UNITS

Present Scenario in the industrial world requires updating of know how and improvement in quality and product which enable the existing units to compete in the market. Officers of the Institute extended their assistance and Consultancy to about 3917 entrepreneurs in the field of plant and machinery including lay out, use of improved manufacturing technology/design process, improvement in tooling and quality, product development and rendered Consultancy for diversification.

MANAGEMENT RELATED ASSISTANCE/ CONSULTANY RENDERED

The Institute assisted 2500 existing units in the field of managerial capability

improvement and 418 units were assisted through management trainings.

MAEKETING/ FINANC RELATED CONSULTANCY/ ASSISTANCE The Institute provided marketing/finance-related assistance to about 6233 entrepreneurs. The Consultancy / Assistance include improvement in marketing, availability of finance and GPP (NSIC Registrations). This type of assistance will help the entrepreneurs to improve their position by availing various financial assistances provided by the different Organizations.

ASSISTANCE / CONSULTANCY AT A GLANCE In a nut-shell this Institute provided Consultancy Services to 56928 prospective entrepreneurs, Assistance/Consultancy rendered to 6074 units, Management related Assistance/Consultancy rendered to 1619 units, Marketing/Finance related Consultancy given to 4917 existing units. On the whole 7483 units/entrepreneurs were benefited in the field of Mechanical, Metallurgy, Chemical, Food, Glass & Ceramic, Leather & Footwear and Electrical, Service industry, Industrial Management, Economic and Statistical discipline.

NATIONAL VENDOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME During 18 to 20 December 2009 a Grand NVDP was organized at Saharanpur for the Textile, hosiery & garment industries, there were more than 100 units who participated the NVDP by displaying their Products a souvenir on this occasion was also published.

PACKAGING FOR EXPORT

A Three Days Programme on Packaging for exports was organized from 17 to 19 Dec .2009 for the members of Indian industries Association, Saharanpur.In which 30 Industrialists Participated.

PROJECT PROFILES Technical officers of this Institute have prepared 42 Project Profiles as per action plan targets. This is an art of identification of new products, which can be introduced and promoted in the MSME Sector. These project profiles comprise almost all the information regarding a particular product such as availability of raw materials, cost of production, marketing facilities, which are more useful to the new entrepreneurs.

ENTREPRENEURS & SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

MSME-DI, Agra is organizing Tailor Made Entrepreneurship & Skill Development Programmes (ESDPs) regularly for different group of people in the society such as Educated Unemployed Youths, Women, Minorities and Weaker Section etc. The main objectives of such type of Programmes are designed for Enhancement of Skill & entrepreneurial qualities for the prospective entrepreneurs and to prepare and motivate the new entrepreneurs to set up their own Small Scale Units.

In the reference year 2009-10 MSME-DI, Agra has conducted 110 ESDPs under core Programme in which 2587 participants benefited. Details are given in the at a glance table below.

ENTREPRENEURS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

MSME-DI, Agra is organizing Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDPs) regularly for Educated Unemployed Youths, Women, and Weaker Section etc. The main objectives of these Programmes are to develop entrepreneurial qualities in the Youth & Up coming generation of the country.To prepare and motivate them to set up their own ventures.

In the reference year 2009-10 MSME-DI, Agra has conducted 25 EDPs under core programme in which total 519 participants benefited.

INTENSIVE MOTIVATIONAL CAMPAIGNS

During the reference year 2009-10 this institute has organized 124 Intensive Motivational Campaigns to motivate the people to establish their own ventures and to select the willing entrepreneurs. In these campaigns about 10401 prospective entrepreneurs participated.

MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES

During the reference year 2009-10 MSME-DI, Agra has organized 25 MDPs for existing as well as prospective entrepreneurs in which 573 participants benefited.

BUSSINESS SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES

During the reference year 6 BSDPs has been organized by the Institute. One at Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Agra & Two at Anand Engineering College Agra. One each at BAMS Engineering College,Agra, SPJ Institute of Management, Agra University Agra & One exclusively for SC/ST Candidates at Poly Tech. Manipuri. On the whole total 152 candidates participated.

TRAINING PROGRAMMES UNDER PD A/C

During the reference year 2009-10 MSME-DI, Agra has organized 08 training courses under PD A/c in which 81 trainees benefited and revenue in the tune of Rs. 1,64,625/ has been realized. During the Year NCDPD,M/o Commerce, Govt. of India Organized Programmes at MSME-DI Agra City office Premises for which Rs 81,000/ earned as Infrastructure Charges. During National Vendor Development Programme A Souvenir was Published for which Rs 20,000/ raised from Advt. publishing under P.D.A/c. For all above activities 25% revnue was deposited in PAO A/c. Training Progrrammes for Stone Craft artisans of Agra

The Institute Imparted & Coordinated a series of Training Programmes to the Artisan of Stone Carving of Agra with the Support of NCDPD ,M/o Commerce Govt of India at the Premises of MSME-Di. At least 500 Hundred Artisans were trained. Apart of this 30 Stone Craft Artisans also attended a design Workshop at Agra organised by the same agency

OTHER TRAINING PROGRAMMES, SEMINARS & WORKSHOPS AT A GLANCE

During the year 2009-10 this Institute organized various training programmes/ Seminars/ Workshops for the benefit of existing as well as prospective entrepreneurs under its jurisdiction Awareness Programme on Govt. Schemes to promote MSME: It was observed that the various schemes of the Department of MSME are not well versed to the Entrepreneurs & Industry Associations .Keeping in view a drive was started to aware of various schemes of industrial development which are run by Govt. of India/State Govt. Therefore, Forteen such type of one day Awareness Programme on Govt. Schemes was organized Three at Saharanpur, Two at Agra, Bareilly, Rampur, Mathura, Mooradabad, Meeruth during the & explained them the schemes for promotion of MSME. Total 449 Artisans cum Entrepreneurs were benefited by these programmes.
