NEEDS ASSESSMENTOphthalmologists must constantly update their practice by incorporating new evidence-based therapies, surgical techniques and scientific insights. Results of needs assessments indicate an educational need for a succinct update on the latest developments in ophthalmology from experts in the field utilizing didactic instruction, video presentations, panel discussions and interactive roundtable sessions. This course is designed to change physician performance in all areas related to cataract surgery.
ENROLLMENTPlease register early – space is limited.
Tuition is $499 for physicians and $299 for all others. The fees will increase after April 1.
Tuition includes continental breakfasts, refreshment breaks, welcome reception, electronic syllabus, and an online certificate of attendance. Tuition may be paid by check, American Express, Discover, MasterCard or VISA. Cash is not accepted.
Registration forms received without payments will not be processed until payment is received, and payment must follow within 10 days. Early discount rates are honored if payment is received by the date noted on the enrollment form. After that date, the late fee is applied.

ACTIVITY DESCRIPTIONThis 3-day meeting will provide the comprehensive ophthalmologist with information and skills related to the latest developments in the subspecialties of cataract surgery, glaucoma, retina, cornea/external disease, pediatric ophthalmology, neuro-ophthalmology and oculoplastics surgery. There will be a particular focus on cataract surgery: preoperative management, intraoperative considerations, and postoperative complications. Participants will also participate in mini-symposia with grand rounds-style complex case presentations. Round table sessions will also be employed to cover each area of ophthalmology.
A follow up questionnaire will be distributed to all participants to evaluate change in patient care practice as a result of this learning activity.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVESAt the end of the activity, participants should be able to:
• Evaluate the preoperative management of the ocular surface prior to cataract surgery
• Discuss management of complicated intraocular lens calculations
• List current recommendations cataract surgery and intraocular lens placement in the pediatric population
• Identify corneal diseases that may impact the outcome of cataract surgery
• List newer surgical advances for addressing glaucoma at the time of cataract surgery and understand what is the current standard of care
• Discuss use of the femtosecond laser for cataract surgery

ACCREDITATION The University of California, Davis Health System is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
CREDIT DESIGNATIONPHYSICIAN CREDIT: The University of California, Davis Health System designates this live activity for a maximum of 12.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
