Dear Friends of Bishop Ford, As I reflect on the past year at Bishop Ford Central Catholic High School, all of the changes that have taken place have enabled us to provide our students with the opportunity to reach their potential in every facet of Bishop Ford life. However, what I feel is most remarkable is what has NOT changed - the continued support of our alumni and friends, and their efforts to give back to Ford so that our present stu-dents may receive the best education in Brooklyn in the true Franciscan tradition. Your generous commitment to the Bishop Ford community is essential to our efforts to provide a quality education so

that our students may be successful in all of their endeavors. As I meet and speak to our graduates and friends, I am overwhelmed with your love and support. Without that it would be impossible to meet any of our goals or to keep the mission of Bishop Ford alive. On behalf of the entire Bishop Ford family, I want to thank you for your help and let you know that we are all very grateful. The 2002-2003 fiscal year was highlighted by the following achieve-ments: ►Almost a half million dollars in total gifts was raised for Bishop Ford ►Alumni are supporting Bishop Ford at unprecedented levels, as demonstrated by this year’s participation rate, which represents an all-time high ►As a result of the effort of Joseph DiMauro ‘66, the Annual Charter Dinner raised over $100,000 last year ►The Annual Fund Campaign increased by more than $50,000 Having just completed our 40th year of Franciscan Education to the chil-dren of the Diocese, I am certain that your continued commitment in the coming year, coupled with the tireless efforts of the Faculty, Administra-tion and Staff, will enable us to continue to provide the “Best Education in Brooklyn”. Gratefully, Raymond P. Nash President

THE ANNUAL REPORT

OF GIFTS ________________

September 1, 2002-August 31, 2003

A high school is many things: a community, good memories of lifelong friends, its faculty, its alumni and their reputation, its educa-tional mission or the per-formance of its sports teams. But mostly, a high school is a spirit of attitude—how those who are there or were there, feel about the institu-tion. The hard work of volunteers and the generosity of donors recorded in this publication indicate that the spirit of Bishop Ford is in very good shape. This report gives grateful recognition to those who generously contributed to the school during 2002-2003. Donors are listed by giving level as well as by fund. The following pages contain the names of all those who made gifts to Bishop Ford High School from September 1, 2002 through August 31, 2003. Any contribution re-ceived after August 31, 2003 will be gratefully acknowl-edged in the 2003-2004 An-nual Report of Gifts. To all our supporters, your thoughtful generosity is ap-preciated by everyone at Bishop Ford.

HIGHLIGHTS OF 2002-2003 _________________________ Gina Ignazio-Gentile ‘86 Director of Annual Giving

The Annual Report of Gifts allows us to publicly recognize those members of the Bishop Ford community who support us in many wonderful ways. The hundreds of individuals, corporations and local businesses included in the report gave generously during the 2002-2003 fiscal year, which ended August 31, 2003—not only in terms of financial support—but through volunteer leadership as well. Overall, new records of support were garnered for Bishop Ford. The 2002-2003 Annual Fund increased by more than $50,000. Our Alumni giving increased by 13%. We received our first fully endowed scholarship of $75,000, as well as the inception of several new scholarship funds. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all who helped make last year so successful, es-pecially the faculty, staff and administration at Bishop Ford High School. Your hard work, dedi-cation and enthusiastic support for our pro-grams and events are inspirational. Once again, on behalf of everyone at Bishop Ford Central Catholic High School, our genuine thanks to each of you who helped make 2002-2003 truly outstanding.

ANNUAL PARTICIPATION IS IMPORTANT ______________

LIFE INCOME GIFTS—With a life income gift, you assign cash, securities, or other assets irrevocably to Bishop Ford. They are then invested to pay a lifetime percentage or fixed amount to you, to succeeding beneficiaries, or to whomever your designate. There are sev-eral options with the most widely used being the Chari-table Remainder Trust. Legal or financial advisors can best help you determine the ve-hicle most advantageous and appropriate to you. Congratulations on helping us achieve an all-time high in alumni participation. Your on-going support is appreciated and counted on. Imagine what next years report would look like if each of us reached out to one of our fellow alumni whose name is not listed and asked them to par-ticipate. Thanks for continuing to remember that “…it is in giving that we receive!” For more information, contact:: Donald G. Mulligan ‘69 Director of Development Bishop Ford High School 500 19th Street Brooklyn, NY 11215 718/360-2555 [email protected]

SECURITIES—You can make such gifts in person, through a broker, or through the mail. For tax purposes, the value of the gift is re-corded as the average market value on the date of delivery (or if mailed, on the post-mark date). If transferred through a broker, the gift’s value is determined by the date of transfer as recorded in the books of the corpora-tion. W I L L — R e m e m b e r i n g Bishop Ford in your will is a special and effective way to ensure that the ideals you value will be perpetuated. It also reduces the taxable por-tion of your estate. PERSONAL PROPERTY—Gifts of valuable art works, furniture, jewelry, antiques, rare books and manuscripts can increase the school’s educational resources in many ways. REAL ESTATE—You can offer real estate as an imme-diate gift or to fund a trust. You may even arrange for lifetime occupancy after making your gift, thereby gaining a tax dedication and eliminating local taxes while still enjoying the comforts of home. LIFE INSURANCE—At a relatively low cost to you, a life insurance policy which names Bishop Ford as bene-ficiary can have a real im-pact.

MANY WAYS TO GIVE! As a charitable contribution, your gift to Bishop Ford High School is afforded tax benefits according to the type of dona-tion you make. Careful plan-ning of your gift to Bishop Ford can help to maximize not only the mission of the school, but your personal goals as well. As you have read in our report, we have been fortunate to re-ceive endowed scholarships, spe-cial purpose gifts and grants and they continue to be of major im-portance to us. But, it is the con-tributions by our alumni and friends to our annual fund that are critical to our ongoing suc-cess. We urge you to contribute annu-ally and have your name listed in our report. Doing so helps Bishop Ford in two ways: - It provides us with necessary annual support - It helps send a strong message to organizations we seek grants from regarding the commitment of our alumni and friends to our success!
