Annual employment report highlights Data for this report was collected through mail surveys, follow-up telephone calls and inquiries to academic departments. The Career Center surveyed graduates of baccalaureate degrees from NDSU for terms ending in December 2004, May 2005 and August 2005. This report is based on responses from 1,313 graduates (85.7% of the reported 1,532 undergraduate degrees granted).
Of the 1,313 respondents:
• 1,001 (76.2%) reported “Employed.”
• 248 (18.9%) reported “Post Baccalaureate & Professional.”
• 64 (4.9%) reported still “Active in Job Search.”
Of the 1,001 employed respondents:
• 841 (84.0%) reported: “Employed Related to Major/Minor.”
• 42 (4.2%) reported employed in part-time positions.
• The average annual reported salary of respondents was $36,000. The highest reported salary was $85,000.
• Graduates reported accepting employment in 39 states and four foreign countries.
• 516 respondents (51.5%) reported accepting employment in North Dakota.
• 277 respondents (27.7%) reported accepting employment in Minnesota.
• 570 respondents reported their original home state as North Dakota, of which 391 reported accepting employment in North Dakota (68.6% retention).
• Of this year’s employed graduates from the College of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Natural Resources, 12.3% have chosen to farm or ranch.

Cooperative EducationThe Cooperative Education program is a structured, paid work experience for academic credit affording students an opportunity to gain relevant, professional experience in the career they have chosen to pursue upon graduation. Co-op students accept work assignments locally, regionally and nationally and the work can be full or part time during the summer and/or academic semester.
