    2018 BOARD & STAFF

MISSION • The Big Sky Community Organization engages and leads people to recreational and enrichment opportunities through thoughtful development of partnerships, programs, and places.

    FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

    DEAR BIG SKY,

If I could summarize this past year of hard work and accomplishment

that we experienced in Big Sky, I would use the metaphor that A RISING

TIDE LIFTS ALL BOATS. Often used when referring to an economy, we

are experiencing this same phenomenon in our SENSE OF COMMUNITY.

Every success our organization had last year involved PARTNERSHIPS. Key

stakeholders from all sectors that worked together to COLLABORATE and

accomplish larger goals than BSCO ever could have on its own. TOGETHER

with the Big Sky Chamber of Commerce, Big Sky Transportation District,

and Gallatin County we secured the most significant influx of federal

funding, $10.3 Million, our community has ever received. Those critical funds

will address several transportation projects benefitting the community as

a whole; all the boats will rise a little. CREATIVELY, the BSCO worked with

the Custer Gallatin National Forest, individual donors, and the Big Sky

Resort Area District Tax Board to secure public access into our surrounding

Wilderness and improve users experience while protecting Beehive Basin

Trailhead’s sensitive environment. WITH THE SUPPORT OF the Leonard

Hill Charitable Trust, the Simkins Family, and 15 other individual donors

we purchased 3.3 acres in the heart of our community to preserve as

parkland IN PERPETUITY. That precious ground will become the home

of a future community center. NONE of these projects would have

happened alone. EVERYONE who lives in and visits Big Sky will benefit

from this hard work for years to come. As BSCO continues to dedicate its

time, energy, and resources to connecting our community, we will not

do this alone. We strive to build a foundation of TRUST that will not only

hold our community together but also RISE all efforts for greatness within

Big Sky. In closing, as you look through this year’s GRATITUDE REPORT,

I encourage you to consider where and how you want to help, because

    TOGETHER BIG SKY WILL RISE.Sincerely,

    Ciara Wolfe Executive Director
