Shine like lights in the world as you hold on to the word of life.
Que Iluminen al mundo con la luz del Evangelio reflejada en su vida
This year’s CSA theme of “One Faith. One Family” makes it clear that the Church is a community called by Christ to continue His mission on earth. There is a universal Church led by the Holy Father in Rome, and a local Church led by our Bishop and compri-sed of 95 parishes and 15 missions! A letter from Bishop Gaydos should arrive very soon asking for your generous support of the Catholic Stewardship Appeal. Consider the blessings you have been given and make a CSA pledge on behalf of your diocesan family

Question of the Week
29th Sunday - Matthew 22:15-21
Key Passage: “Show me the coin that pays the census tax.” Then they handed him a Ro-man coin. He said to them, “Whose image is this and whose inscription?” They replied, “Caesar’s.” At that he said to them, “Then repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.”
Question for adults: Civil values sometimes conflict with Church teachings. What tech-niques do you use to resolve positions?
Question for children: We use money to pay for things we want or need. What do we use to show our thanks for the things God provides for us?
Pregunta de la Semana
29° Domingo -- Mateo 22:15-21

We lift up to the Lord in prayer all those who seek healing through the peace
of Christ, especially those near
death.
We pray too, for those who
struggle with grief or addic-
tions and those who labor to
provide our well being and
freedom especially first re-
sponders and military, and for
those separated from their
loved ones and family.
For each of them, may the promise and the gift of the peace of Christ fill their
hearts and minds, and may almighty God always provide their every need.

Shine like lights in the world
as you hold on to the word of life.
This year’s Catholic Stewardship Ap-peal theme of “One Faith. One Family” makes it clear that the Church is a com-munity called by Christ to continue His mission on earth. There is a universal Church led by the Holy Father in Rome, and a local Church called the Diocese of Jefferson City, led by our Bishop and comprised of 95 parishes and 15 mis-sions! A letter from Bishop Gaydos should arrive very soon asking for your generous support of the Catholic Ste-wardship Appeal. If you’ve given in the past, please consider renewing a previous gift or even increasing it. If you haven’t given before, consider the blessings you have been given and make a CSA pledge on behalf of your diocesan family.

(CNS) Catholics and Methodists can strengthen each other through a shared witness of faith, especially through acts of love toward the poor and the marginalized, Pope Francis said.
The mutual call to holiness shared by both communities "is necessarily a call to communion with others, too,"
the pope said Oct. 19. "When, as Catholics and Method-ists, we join in assisting and comfort-ing the weak and the marginalized -- those who in the midst of our societies feel distant, foreign and alienated --
we are responding to the Lord's sum-mons," he said. The pope met at the Vatican with members of the World
(Common witness continued)Methodist Council who were in Rome to commemorate formation of the Joint International Methodist-Catholic Dialogue Commission. Welcoming the delegation mem-bers, the pope said that in the Bible, the 50th year is a significant moment for the people of Israel in which liber-ty is proclaimed throughout the land. "We are grateful to God because we can say that, in a certain sense, we too have been freed from the slavery of estrangement and mutual suspicion," he said. The pope said that since Vatican 2, both communities have striven to con-tinue along the path of knowledge and mutual esteem through dialogue "in a spirit of honesty and integrity" with "love for the truth, with charity and with humility." "We are brothers and sisters who, following a long separa-tion, are happy to move forward with open hearts," he said. The pope also recalled the life and example of John Wesley, a founder of Methodism, who dedicated his life to helping others "live a holy life." By recognizing those who dedicate themselves to reading the Bible and to prayer, he said, Catholics "cannot fail to rejoice" when the work of the Holy Spirit is recognized "in other Christian confessions." Like the disciples awaiting the arrival of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, Catholics and Methodists must "remain together" in prayer and hope so that the Spirit of God may "bring about the miracle of reconciled unity." "We have learned to see one an-other as brothers and sisters in Christ," Pope Francis said. "Now is the time to prepare ourselves, with humble hope and concrete efforts, for that full recognition that will come about, by God's grace, when at last we will be able to join one another in the break-ing of the bread."
