16 ANNOUNCEMENTS Welcome to guests and visitors! We are glad that you are here, and hope that you will join us again soon. Please stop at our “Meet and Greet” table before you leave. Sunday School The children in Sunday School will hear about “How God Showed Mer- cy to Israel.” After presentation of the Bible Lesson, the children will practice for the Chil- dren’s Christmas Program on December 24. It is extremely important for all the children to be in Sunday School every week for God’s Word and Christmas practice. Adult Bible Class will talk about “Not By Force: Power of the Word.” We came to faith in Jesus because God converted us through the Good News. Conversions by force do not work, neither does trying to get rid of false teaching by force. Martin Luther knew from the Bible and his own experience that only the Word of God converts, and that God gives his Spirit in no other way except through the Word. Join us this Sunday! LORD, KEEP US WATCHFUL FOR OUR TRIUMPH

CROWN OF GLORY LUTHERAN CHURCH | Orlando, Florida

WELCOME TO WORSHIP WELCOME to all our guests. It truly is a pleasure to have you with us today. In order to make your visit as enjoyable as possible, please allow us to answer some common questions about our church and our worship services. Our restrooms are located in the church entryway on either side of the drinking

fountain. A baby changing station is available in the ladies’ restroom of the building next door.

We encourage children of all ages to participate in our worship services. So, please

don’t be afraid to bring them into the service. However, we also realize that children can become restless. We have a nursery room with books and chairs that you can use to help calm your child. Our ushers will be glad to direct you to the nursery room at any time.

Our entire worship service is printed in this folder. The order of service that we use

is a version of the historic liturgy that the Christian Church has used for centuries. If at any time during the service you have a question, please feel free to ask some-one sitting near you for help. We are more than happy to assist you in any way we can.

Before you leave today, please visit our “Meet and Greet Table” and make use of

the printed materials. If you have any other questions, please feel free to speak to our pastor. Our ushers also stand ready to assist you. God bless your visit. We hope to see you again soon. PREPARATION “Personal Prayers for Worship” are found on pages 10-11 in the front part of the hymnal. The hymnals are located in the baskets underneath most chairs. Out of courtesy to your fellow worshipers, please silence all electronic devices before the service.

CLOSING HYMN Lord, When Your Glory I Shall See #219

14

CLOSING PRAYER AND BLESSING M: Blessed Lord, you have given us your Holy Scriptures for our learning. May we so hear them, read, learn, and take them to heart, that being strengthened and com - forted by your Holy Word, we may cling to the blessed hope of everlasting life, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. C: Amen. M: Brothers and sisters, go in peace. Live in harmony with one another. Serve the Lord with gladness. The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord look on you with his favor and give you his peace.

INVOCATION M: In the name of the Father and of the ☩ Son and of the Holy Spirit. C: Amen. CONFESSION OF SINS M: God invites us to come into his presence and worship him with humble and repent-

ant hearts. Therefore, at the beginning of our worship, we acknowledge our sinful condition and ask him to forgive us and constantly renew and reform us from with-in for Jesus’ sake so that we may be awake and ready for his coming. Let us then confess our sins:

C : Lord, to you I make confession: “I have sinned and gone astray. I have multiplied transgression; chosen for myself my way. Led by you to see my errors, Lord, I tremble at your terrors.” Yet, though conscience presses on me, Father, I will seek your face. Do not for my sins forsake me, but receive me by your grace. For your Son has suffered for me; died to save me and restore me. Thus, on you I cast my burden—Sink it in the depths below. Let me know your gracious pardon. Wash me, make me white as snow. Let your Spirit leave me never. Make me only yours forever! ANNNOUNCEMENT OF FORGIVENESS M: You did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received

the Spirit of adoption. By him we cry, “Abba, Father!” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ. Therefore, receive the full and free forgiveness of our Lord with thanks and praise. By the authority of God and as a called servant of his Word, I assure you that God forgives you for all your sins in the name of the Father, and of the Son (†), and of the Holy Spirit.

C: Amen. M: In the peace of forgiveness, let us praise the Lord:

13

LORD’S PRAYER Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH—SAINTS TRIUMPHANT Lord of eternity and King of saints, all the heavens adore you. Saints and angels sing before you. We too join them to praise your majesty. You clothe us with garments of splendor. You bless us with grace and mercy in this life and eternal glory forever. What undeserved love you show us! We thank you, Lord, that you have made us your saints. Encourage us by your gracious promises. Forgive our failures to live as you desire. Strengthen the faith of all who are weak and wandering. Give us power to live as your faithful people. Your saints will triumph forever in new heavens and a new earth. The sound of weep-ing and crying will be heard no more. We anticipate with joy an eternity of perfect fel-lowship with you. Be with us as we work and witness for Christ, so that many more people can join us before your throne. Special prayers and intercessions may follow.

Hear us, Lord, as we bring you our private petitions. Silent prayer.

Lord of life, the day is coming when you will come down from heaven with the voice of the archangel and the trumpet call of God. On that glorious day, the saints triumphant will rise in bright array, clothed in your perfect righteousness. Give us strength until that day when we will share fully in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

SONG OF PRAISE Blessed are the Saints of God #394:1-2

PRAYER OF THE DAY M: The Lord be with you. C: And also with you. M: Let us pray: Almighty God and Savior, you have set the final day and hour when we shall be

delivered from this world of sin and death. Keep us ever watchful for the coming of your Son that we may sit with him and all your holy ones at the marriage feast in heaven; through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

C: Amen.

FIRST LESSON Isaiah 52:1-6 (NIV)

Stay awake, believers in Jesus, your victory is almost here!

Awake, awake, Zion, clothe yourself with strength! Put on your garments of splendor, Jerusalem, the holy city. The uncircumcised and defiled will not enter you again. 2 Shake off your dust; rise up, sit enthroned, Jerusalem. Free yourself from the chains on your neck, Daughter Zion, now a captive.

3 For this is what the Lord says:

“You were sold for nothing, and without money you will be redeemed.”

4 For this is what the Sovereign Lord says:

“At first my people went down to Egypt to live; lately, Assyria has oppressed them.

5 “And now what do I have here?” declares the Lord.

“For my people have been taken away for nothing, and those who rule them mock,” declares the Lord. “And all day long my name is constantly blasphemed. 6 Therefore my people will know my name; therefore in that day they will know that it is I who foretold it. Yes, it is I.”

P: The Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God.

SERMON CONFESSION OF FAITH (The Second Article of the Apostles Creed)

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascend-ed into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

What does this mean?

I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the virgin Mary, is my Lord.

He has redeemed me, a lost and condemned creature, purchased and won me from all sins, from death and from the power of the devil, not with gold or silver, but with his holy, precious blood and with his innocent suffering and death.

All this he did that I should be his own, and live under him in his kingdom, and serve him in everlasting righteousness, innocence and blessedness, just as he has risen from death and lives and rules eternally.

This is most certainly true.

THANK OFFERING

HYMN OF THE DAY Wake, Awake, for Night Is Flying #206

PSALM OF THE DAY Psalm 84

How lovely is your dwelling place,* O LORD Almighty!

My soul yearns, even faints,* for the courts of the LORD.

Blessed are those who dwell in your house;* they are ever praising you.

Refrain Better is one day in your courts*

than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God*

than dwell in the tents of the wicked. O LORD Almighty,*

blessed are they who trust in you.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son* and to the Holy Spirit,

as it was in the beginning,* is now, and will be forever. Amen.

SECOND LESSON Revelation 19:1-9 (NIV)

P: The Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God.

Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb.

After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, 2 for true and just are his judgments. He has condemned the great prostitute who corrupted the earth by her adulteries. He has avenged on her the blood of his servants.” 3 And again they shouted: “Hallelujah! The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever.”

4 The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne. And they cried: “Amen, Hallelujah!” 5 Then a voice came from the throne, saying: “Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both great and small!” 6 Then I heard what sounded like a great mul-titude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. 7Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. 8 Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.” (Fine linen stands for the verdicts of righteousness pronounced on God’s holy people.)

9 Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wed-ding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.”

GOSPEL Matthew 25:1-13 (NIV)

Many will be found without faith in Jesus when he returns for his Bride.

“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3 The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. 4 The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. 5 The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

6 “At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’

7 “Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’

9 “‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’

10 “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.

11 “Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’

12 “But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’

13 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.
