MINUTE OF SILENCE

Let’s reflect quietly for a moment as we thank God for his protection in the recent fires and also remember those who have lost life and property.

Most merciful God, in the midst of natural disaster we look to you in hope and trust, acknowledging that there is much in life beyond our present understanding.

Accept our compassion for the suffering; bless those who are working for their relief; show us what we can do to share in their task, as servants of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Confession

P: Friends in Christ: Let us confess our sins to God our Father and ask him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to forgive us.

C: We confess that we are born in bondage to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have failed to do.

THINGS TO DO WHILE WAITINGA reflection on Hebrews 10:19-25

“People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world” (Luke 21:26) 

19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. It is indeed right and good, Lord God, holy Father, that we should at all times and in all places give thanks to you, through Jesus Christ our Lord. You have revealed your glorious presence to us in a new way through the mystery of the Word made flesh, so that as we see you in your Son, we are drawn to love you whom we cannot see.
