Society for Advancement of Wheat and Barley Research (SAWBAR) is pleased to announce and invite applications for various SAWBAR Awards for the year 2020. The awards are bestowed to researchers who have done pioneering and innovative work in the field of wheat and barley research leading to enhanced production through development of new advanced technologies, their widespread adoption at farm level which led to better price realization and improvement in Indian small and marginal farmer’s livelihood. Society Awards and Fellows 1. Prof. Mahatim Singh Memorial Award (Annual-01): The award is sponsored by Dr. GP Singh, Director, ICAR-IIWBR, Karnal in the memory of his father, Late Prof. Mahatim Singh. The award will be given to a young scientist who is pursuing novel work in the field of wheat and barley research and is a life member of the Society. The awardee will be decorated with a Plaque of Merit, Certificate with citation and cash prize of rupees ten thousand only. The selection will be based on their significant research achievements made during the past five years i.e. 2015 - 2020. The applicant must be a life member of the Society and should be below the age of 45 years as on 30/06/2020 2. Dr. MV Rao Memorial Award(Annual-01):The award is jointly sponsored by Sri M Srinivas Rao, Trustee, MV Rao Foundation for Agriculture and Development, Hyderabad; Dr S.V. Sai Prasad, ICAR-IARI RS Indore; M/S Syngenta India Limited, Indore, Shri Manmohan Dhoot, Kanood and M/S Vasundhara Seeds, Ujjain in the honour of Padma Shri Dr. MV Rao, a key architect of the Green Revolution and a doyen of Indian agriculture. The award will be given to a Distinguished Scientist who has made outstanding contribution in the field of wheat and barley research in India. The award consists of a Plaque of Merit, Certificate with citation and cash prize of rupees ten thousand only. The applicant must be a life member of the Society and should be of 55 years or above as on 30/06/2020 3. Dr. S. Society for Advancement of Wheat and Barley Research (SAWBAR) is pleased to announce and

invite applications for various SAWBAR Awards for the year 2020. The awards are bestowed to

Society Awards and Fellows

1. Prof. Mahatim Singh Memorial Award (Annual-01): The award is sponsored by Dr. GP Singh,

4. Best Woman Scientist Award (Annual-01):The award is sponsored by SAWBAR and WRTF.

The award is institutionalized to recognize and encourage the women scientists who have done

pioneering and extra ordinary basic/ applied/ strategic research in wheat and barley. The

awardee will be decorated with a Plaque of Merit, Certificate with citation and cash prize of

rupees ten thousand only. The applicant must be a life member of the Society. There is no

age bar for this award.

5. SAWBAR Fellows (Annual--06): There will be two fellows chosen from Crop Improvement and

one each from Crop Protection, Resource Management, Quality and Basic Sciences, and Social

Sciences. Applicant must be a life member of the Society for the preceding 5 years. There is

no age-bar for SAWBAR Fellowship.

6. Best Paper Award (Annual-01): Best paper certificate will be given among the papers

published in all the issues of previous volume i.e. Volume 11.

7. Most Cited paper (Annual-01): The paper with maximum citations during previous five years

will be given a certificate.

1. Please use award specific prescribed proforma only. The application proforma can be downloaded from http://sawbar.in/sawbar-awards/

2. Applications in any other proforma will not be considered.

3. The applicant must be a life member of the Society and has paid all the dues by the closing

date of the application for applying for Prof Mahatim Singh Memorial Award, Dr. MV Rao

Memorial Award and Dr. S. Nagarajan Memorial Award.

4. For applying for SAWBAR fellow, the applicant must be a life member of the Society for at

least 5 years at the closing date of award application.

5. The age limit for Prof Mahatim Singh Memorial Award is less than 45 years, Dr. S. Nagarajan

Memorial Award, the age should be 45 years or above, and for Padma Shri Dr. MV Rao

Memorial Award the age should be 55 years or above . There is no age limit for applying for

SAWBAR fellow and Best Woman Scientist Award.

6. For Prof Mahatim Singh Memorial Award, the selection will be based on the significant

research achievements made during past five years i.e. 2015 - 2020.

7. Minimum 60 marks are required for qualifying for the award.

8. Applicants getting equal and maximum marks will share the award.

9. The applicants can apply for any one of the award and SAWBAR fellow.

10. The award(s) will be presented during the Annual General Body meeting of the Society.

11. An additional advantage of maximum 5 marks will be given to the applicants who have published

papers in Journal of Cereal Research (earlier known as JWR and WBR).

12. Please attach scanned copy of the certified first or relevant page as a proof for each

claim/publication made in the application.

13. Claim without proof will not be entertained and no marks will be given for the claim.

14. For technology claim, please attach proper document in the form of publication in the peer

reviewed journal or package of practice recommended by the University/ Institute

15. Give executive summary of your achievements in 150 words in Part A of the application

16. Mention clearly the name of award applied in the subject line.

17. The application duly signed and forwarded by the Competent authority in the

prescribed proforma should be sent as pdf file to [email protected]

18. Application sent to any other account of the society or office bearers will not be

entertained.

19. The last date for applications is 30th June, 2020.

20. The applications received after the closing date (30th June, 2020) will not be entertained.

21. SAWBAR office bearers are not eligible for any award except SAWBAR Fellow.

22. In all matters relating to the award, the decision of the award committee shall be

final and no correspondence on this account will be entertained.
