Michelle Merrill, Associate ConductorRapidly rising conductor Michelle Merrill is the associate conductor of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, where she also carries the title of Phillip and Lauren Fisher Community Ambassador. A passionate and dynamic artist, Merrill was named one of Hour Detroit magazine’s "3 Cultural Organization Leaders to Watch" and was recently profiled by the Ford Motor Company for its website fordbetterworld.org. She is also a recipient of a 2016 Solti Foundation U.S. Career Assistance Award.

Chief Warrant Officer Daniel WoodChief Warrant Officer Daniel Wood joined The United States Army Field Band in December 2014 as officer-in-charge of the Jazz Ambassadors. He previously served as commander of the 10th Mountain Division Band at Fort Drum, New York, with which he deployed to Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. He also served as commander of the I Corps Band at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. Wood holds a bachelor’s degree in music education and a master’s degree in music from New Mexico State University.

Jazz AmbassadorsThe Jazz Ambassadors is the U.S. Army’s official touring big band. Formed in 1969, this 19-member ensemble has received great acclaim at home and abroad performing America’s greatest original art form, jazz. The band’s concerts are designed to entertain all types of audiences. Its diverse repertoire includes big-band swing, bebop, Latin, contemporary jazz, standards, popular tunes, Dixieland, vocals and patriotic selections, many of which are written or arranged by the members.

ALCOHOLState law prohibits bringing alcoholic beverages onto village property. Alcoholic beverages are available for purchase in designated concession areas.

CANCELLATION POLICYSevere weather or other uncontrollable circumstances may cause the cancellation of a performance. If this occurs, you will be asked to evacuate Greenfield Village as quickly as possible. Ticket exchanges will not be possible due to limited capacities for each performance. Refunds will not be issued, but you will be given an option of another Detroit Symphony Orchestra performance at a different location or a daily admission to The Henry Ford when you show a ticket stub or your print-at-home ticket stub for the canceled performance.
