    MATERIALS REQUIRED:

    Die-Cut Set: DDC01 (optional).

Thin Card: Antique Gold andHammer Cream.

    Cream Paper and Plain Paper.

    Gold Thread: MDM325.

    Thin Gold Cord.

    Small Gold Padded Heart.

    Costume Jewellery Centrepiece.

    Tracing Paper and Pencil.

    Scissors or Craft Knife.

    Computer & Printer.

    Sticky Fixers.

    UHU All Purpose Adhesive.

    Card Mount: JA07G-GO-46 Crm/Gold.

    TO MAKE THE CARD:

This cream and gold set of discs and bells areavailable to buy (DDC01) or you can make your ownas follows.

Trace the cream thread circle from the diagramincluding the cut-out shapes and centre hole. Ona new area of tracing paper, trace the antique goldscalloped disc. Retrace these onto the relevantcoloured card and cut out. Cut away the centre circleand teardrop shapes from the cream disc. Trace thebells and retrace onto cream for the smaller bell andgold for the larger, make two of each.

I did all the wording on the computer and printed itout, the font I used is Murphy Script Viva. If you donthave this font on your computer any script style fontyou like will work just as well. You will need a pro-gram that allows you to type in a circle, there are lotsof greetings card packages available, if you have oneof these you may find it gives you the option to dothis. If not you can use a word processing programsuch as Microsoft Word and Ill give you an idea ofhow to do it using this software.

The menus and palettes may be in different places

depending on the version of Word you are using. Firstyou need to open an extra palette and a toolbar. Onthe top toolbar, click onView, then on the drop downlist click on Formatting Palette. Click onView againthen on the drop down list go to Toolbars then go to

the side to bring up the expanded list and click onWordArt. Both of these will now be ready to use.

On the Formatting Palette, underAdd Object ,click the tab that says Text Shapes when you hoverover it. Its not really important which of the WordArtstyles you choose as you are going to change it any-way so double click on the first WordArt image onthe palette (below the box with abc inside it). Thewording Your Text Here will appear on your page.

Double click on any of the letters of the new word-ing (on the page) and an Edit WordArt text box will

appear. Change the size to 12pt and choose a nicescript font from the list (you can change this againlater if you need to). The text is already selected, delete it and type Golden then 3 spaces 12 times(dont forget the 3 spaces at the end) and click okay.Dont worry about how it looks on the page.

Make sure the text shape on the page is still se-lected (i.e. it has little square points around it), thenon the WordArt Palette click on the icon that saysWordArt Shape when you hover over it and choosethe first circle shape (with the middle unfilled) from

the selection offered. The text will now look a bit ofa mess in a flattened circle shape. Click on the lowermiddle square point and drag it down, you will seean oval line appear as you drag, keep dragging untilit looks like a perfect circle.

The circle wont be the right size, so click on thelower left corner square point, hold down the shiftkey (to keep the circle in shape) and drag upwards tomake it smaller or drag down for larger. You can alsoat any time click on the WordArt and drag, to move itto anywhere on the page. Use the rulers at the edgeof the document to roughly check the size (the aper-ture size is 125mm), until you think it is about right.

On the Formatting Palette under Colours,

Weights and Fills, change the colour of the fill to adark red/brown and do the same with the line. If thecolour (fill and/or line) is too dark change the trans-parency to a higher number to lighten it. If, now youhave the circle of words, you want to try other fontstyles, simply double click on the wording and theEdit WordArt box will re-appear. Print it out ontoplain paper and see if it fits nicely into the aperture.Resize as necessary, print and check again. Whenyou are happy with the fit, print out onto cream paper.

If you dont have a computer, or its all too difficult

you can just trace and transfer the words from thediagram or use a translucent cream coloured paperand trace directly onto it. You can, at the same time, mark a little dot where each gem fits to make placingthem easier later.

Cut the paper to fit behind the aperture and stick inplace on the back panel. Use sticky fixers behind the

aperture to add depth and fold the card closed. Gluethe gold deckled card into the centre of the aperture.

Tape the thread at the back of the cream paneland bring it to the front through any one of the dips, this is marked as 1 on the diagram, take the threadacross the front of the disc, going down at 10, take itacross the back and into 2 then across the front into11. Continue around until all the dips have been usedtwice and tape the thread onto the back.

Stick the disc in place in the centre of the apertureusing sticky fixers around the edge and a dab of gluein the centre.

Glue the gold bells to the corner of the card andstick a small gold padded heart to the top. Add thecream bells over the gold using sticky fixers. Sticksilver gems into the gaps between each goldenusing UHU black top glue. Add a centrepiece in thesame colour scheme, beads or gems are great forthis or a piece of old costume jewellery.

I typed a message using the same font and colouras the original wording and printed it out. The sizewill depend on what you want to say and how largeyou type it. I also added an elasticated bow alongthe fold and a printed insert to finish.
