Improvement Plan:  2016­2017  The Fales School Council is pleased to present our 2016­2017 School Improvement Plan for  review.  This plan was created by the Fales School Council in collaboration with the Fales Staff and Fales families.  The areas for improvement that we have addressed are aligned to the  district's Strategic Plan goals.  We are excited to put these goals into action.    2015­2016 Fales School Council Lisa Chace Parent Representative Kathy Lay Teacher Representative Rebecca Scotchie Parent Representative Maryann Stannard Principal Julie Zaremba Teacher Representative  This plan includes the following sections:

 Update on the 2015­2016 School Improvement Plan Goals:  Goal # 1 Curriculum and Instruction: ● Implemented iPads into the classroom to enhance instructional practices, support student creativity 

and critical thinking skills ● Developed a cohesive plan for integrating library­media and technology into K­3 curriculum ● Continued collaboration on refining our practices for differentiating instruction across the curriculum 

Goal # 2 Professional Development: ● Focused on integration and effective use of iPads to enhance instructional practices and learning 

opportunities ● Focused on new science content and practice standards as well as the implementation of Full Option 

 

 

Science System (FOSS) Goal # 3 Student Services: ● Created a committee to review and refine the schedule to increase effectiveness in meeting needs of 

students and staff ● Expanded our implementation of co­teaching practices in ELA and Math 

Goal # 4 Technology: ● Introduced and implemented the integration and use of iPads into classroom instruction ● Introduced and implemented PowerSchool as the new student information system used by staff and 

families  Goal # 5 Facilities: ● Updated and reorganized our main office area to provide more space for visitors and to provide a more

School Improvement Goal 1: Teaching and Learning Continue to refine curriculum, instruction, and assessment so all students receive a guaranteed curriculum.

School Improvement Goal 2: Student Support and Engagement Continue to develop instructional approaches that meet the diverse needs of all learners within an inclusive environment and a least restrictive setting for all of our students.

Continue to support and develop the implementation of of co­teaching practices across grade levels and extend into our English Language Learner instruction.

School Improvement Goal 3: Family, Community, Faculty Connections, and Values Continue to provide an educational experience grounded in cultural proficiency that honors, respects and meets the needs of all students, staff, and families who are part of the Westborough Public Schools.

Provide opportunities for faculty to increase their awareness of global perspectives and concepts of cultural proficiency as they relate to meeting the needs of our students.

Continue to celebrate all that makes us special as individuals and as a community by  providing opportunities for us to gather together for events such as: Open House, School Meetings, Family Fun Day, Grade Level Pot Luck Dinners, Park and Walk Days, and more.

School Improvement Goal 5:  Communication, Management, and Organization  Continue to provide important information to our community regarding curriculum and important school events through our school webpage, emails, and paper based updates when needed.   Continue to refine school schedule to provide educators time to collaborate.
