    SIMPLE SOCK INSTRUCTIONS*

    Fingering weight yarnSize US #2 or #3 DP needles

    Cast on 64 stitches over 3 needles, Join and work k1, p1 for 1 inch

    Continue in st st (stockinette stitch) until garment reaches 7 or desired length

    Begin HEELPlace 32 stitches on #1 needle, divide remaining 32 between #2 & #3 needles

    Row 1: (rs) K1 *K1, Slip 1* rep between * across end with K1Row 2: (ws) Purl row

    REPEAT rows 1 and 2 until measures 2 or 32 rows

    Turn HEEL

    Row 1: P18, P2tog, P1 turnRow 2: Slip 1, K5, K2tog through The Back Loop, K1 turnRow 3: Slip 1, work P to within 1 st of last turn, P2tog, P1 turnRow 4: Slip 1, work K to within 1 st of last turn, K2tog TBL, K1 turn

    Continue working Row 3 and Row 4 until 18 stitches remain on needle ending with K row

    GUSSETWith loose needle pick up along slip stitches and knit 16 stitches along side of heel

    Combine instep stitches from the next 2 needles onto one needle, K across

    Pick up and K 16 stitches along side of heel, continue to K (9) stitches from the heelneedle, slide other half of stitches onto first needle

    There will be 25 stitches on needles #1 and #3 and 32 stitches on needle #2

    Join and knit one round

    Shape INSTEPRnd 1: Needle #1: (Decrease round) Work in st st until 3 sts remain on first needle, K2tog, K1

    Needle #2: Work across instep needle in K stitchNeedle #3: Decrease at beginning of next needle by K1, Sl 1, K1, PSSO (pass slipstitch over K stitch) continue K stitch to end of needle

    Rnd 2: (Even round) Work next round even in K stitch over all 3 needles

    Repeat Rnd #1 and #2 until 16 stitches remain on #1 and #3 needles (9 decrease rounds)

    Continue to K in st st until length is 2 less than desired length of sock

    TOE ShapingRnd 1: Needle #1: Work (K) until last 3 sts, K2tog, K1

    Needle #2: K1, Sl 1, K1, PSSO (pass slip stitch over K stitch) continue inK st until last 3 sts, K2tog, K1Needle #3: K1, Sl 1, K1, PSSO (pass slip stitch over K stitch) continue inK stitch to end of round

    Rnd 2: Work even in K st

    Repeat Rnd 1 and 2 until 24 stitches remain

    Knit stitches from needle #1 to needle #3. You should know have 12 stitches on two needles.HOLD these needles together parallel. One in front and one in back

    Kitchener TOE (grafting)Step 1:Insert tapestry needle, as if to purl, in the first stitch of the front needle, draw thread through.Insert tapestry needle, as if to knit, in the first stitch of the back needle, draw thread through.

    Step 2:Insert tapestry needle, as if to knit, in the first stitch of the front needle, and at the same timeremove stitch onto tapestry needle.Insert tapestry needle, as if to purl, in the second stitch of the front needle, and pull through,leaving stitch on working needle.

    Step 3Insert tapestry needle, as if to purl, in the first stitch of the back needle, and at the same timeremove stitch onto tapestry needle.

    Insert tapestry needle, as if to knit, in the second stitch of the back needle, and pull throughleaving stitch on working needle.

    Repeat to Step 2 and 3 to the end.

    P1,K1,*K1,P1,P1,K1 repeat from * to end

    *NOTE: If casting on a different number of stitches such as 48 (worsted socks forexample) to begin your sock you will always work the TURN HEEL by Purling 2 past thecenter (example on a 48 stitch sock it would be 12+2=14) then Purl 2tog, P1 turn.

    Row 2 will always be S1, K5, K2tog, K1 turnRow 3: Sl 1, work P to within 1 st of last turn, P2tog, P1 turnRow 4: Sl 1, work K to within 1 st of last turn, K2tog, K1 turn
