Volunteering and the Place Survey
• The level of volunteering in a local authority will now be monitored by the Place Survey
• Volunteering also effects how people feel about their community and will effect how they a respond to other questions in the Place Survey

• London Councils are determined to use the catalytic effect of the Games to increase volunteering capacity and opportunity within boroughs and through borough partnerships with Volunteer Centres.
• We are particularly keen to ensure that Volunteering is a major Legacy of the 2012 Games - particularly for hard to reach groups.

Regionally Volunteering in London Group
Theme 1: Personal Best – ensure there is an appropriately designed and funded pre-volunteer programme, targeted at the unemployed and economically inactive
Theme 2: Improve the knowledge and information management to develop better understanding of volunteering and impact in London
Theme 3: Extend the volunteer base with particular reference to increasing accessibility for people and communities who do not normally volunteer or who volunteer through more informal channels
Theme 4: Raise awareness amongst employers of the benefits of volunteering for employees in order that employers facilitate Games time volunteering, and increase their commitment to employee volunteering as a whole
Theme 5 – Improve volunteer infrastructure in London in order to make it fit for 2012 and beyond
