Otto Frank had taken his family into hiding after Nazi groups took control.

This hiding place was where Anne started her diary.

The secret attic apartment was where the family spent a couple of years in hiding, Anne referred to this hiding place as the “Secret Annex”

Friends of the Franks smuggled food in risk of their own lives to help the family.

This showed that during this time, it was a very harsh, and dangerous situation.

The Hiding PlaceAnne Writes, "The

Annex is an ideal place to hide in. It may be damp and lopsided, but there's probably not a more comfortable hiding place in all of Amsterdam. No, in all of Holland.“

The annex was hidden behind a movable bookshelf.
