Anna arrived in the United States along with her mother, Rosalie, and three sisters, Agnes, Rose and Margaret.

They arrived at Ellis Island on January 25th, 1911 onboard the ship RMS Carpathia, the same ship that, one year later, would rescue the survivors of RMS Titanic.

Anna and her family immigrated from Pancsova (pan-scova), Hungary. It’s not known specifically why they left, but probably for economic opportunities in the US

Anna eventually settled in Lawndale, Philadelphia. Lawndale was a largely made up of Hungarian immigrants. Anna was known to commonly speak with her friends in Hungarian.

Anna worked at a chemical company called Rohm and Haas, she married Joseph Bonn, and illegal immigrant from Poola (then Pola), Austria. He was a sailor, who jumped ship in New York after supposedly having a dispute with the captain, and settled in Philadelphia. He eventually became documented in the 1930’s when Anna nagged him into doing it so that they could apply for social security.

They had two children together, Rosalie (named after Anna’s mother) and Joseph.
