Willing to discover some method to answer this question, the exhibition “In the beginning,” uses Bombon’s space as a

laboratory for an experimental archaeological research. The project starts from the observation of the visible and invisible

marks of the past that can be found in the gallery’s space in order to deal with them as if they were clues of other times that

allow us to imagine and reconstruct a possible scenery of the beginning of this space.

Una muntanya a dins de casa (exhibition view),Bombon Projects,

Barcelona, 2018

It is said that in Vic there is a house build on a mountain. It is also said that if you make a hole on the floor of some first

floor’s rooms, you will find rock. At Arc de Triomf”s underground station (Barcelona) I step on the pieces of a broken floor

tile. cruc-cruc. The ceramic shards are unstable and unstucked on the paving. They follow the swing of my weight caused by

my body’s movement. Strength and balance in flow; my body, the space and the earth. The image of a raw pea under a floor

tile or a mountain inside home.

Madrid, 2018

Sound installation (fan, 3 speakers, graphite intervention on the floor).

The biblical excerpt that narrates the Babel’s myth has built in our imaginaries the idea of a tower. Considering this, we can

ask ourselves: what is the state of this text, after the divine windstorm that brought the falling of the tower and the confu-

sion of the tongues? How does the landscape of the Babel’s ruins sound like?

To find an answer, I used all the letters from the Babel’s excerpt to assemble some kind of tower (or, at least, a little pile of

tiny pieces of paper) and then, all of a sudden, I don’t know exactly what it was (a bad omen, a sigh of dislove or maybe, just,

a gust of wind) devastated my construction, leaving a mess of printed hebrew letters on my desk; a ruinous landscape.

I read it, with the hope of finding some kind of secret message, a path, a dream of the past. The sound installation is the

result of transposing this soundscape to an exhibition space.

Reaparició(Performance)

Bianyal, Vall de Bianya, 2017

A group of people follow a path across a centenarian oak forest in Vall de Bianya. They see 5 people from afar who walk

towards them. At a certain moment, those 5 people stop walking and stare at the group. The distance between the ones and

the others is big enough not to see the others clearly. They maintain mutual glances for a while.

The action finishes when the group of people on a path stop seeing the others.

The title “Reappearance” is a direct reference to the action entitled “Appearance” developed by Collective Actions on the

13th March, 1976, outside Moscow.

The Catalan and Spanish version of “stepping twice into the same river” would be, literally, “to step twice with the same

stone”. In this sentence the word “stone” functions as a sinonym for “mistake” or “error”, so that “to step twice with the

same stone” would be the same as saying “to make the same mistake twice”. Considering this, we can ask ourselves about

the shapes of mistakes. Would it be possible to turn mistakes into visible forms that were recognizable as rocks in a path?

To experiment with this we took the novel Don Quijote de la Mancha, by Miguel de Cervantes, in which the main character

becomes self proclaimed knight (in a way that totally contradicts the law!) and tries to live all the adventures he had read in

cavalry novels. In this process he makes a series of mistakes. We interpret them as descriptions of the difference between

expectations and reality.

Until I am not longer able to stand,2016La Capella, Barcelona

On 24 September 2013, Texas senator Ted Cruz announced to the press that he would speak as long as he could maintain

himself upright – “until I am no longer able to stand,” he said – in opposition to Obama’s proposed health care reform

known as Obamacare. The next day he delivered a 21-hour faux filibuster, which is the practice of giving a prolonged speech

with the aim of paralysing parliamentary debate and blocking the approval of a law.

Until I am no longer able to stand proposes to convert the Espai Cub into the stage for creating a filibuster speech to take

place on the last day of the project exhibition. It will be delivered in order to delay as long as possible the scheduled closing

of La Capella. During the exhibition, the Espai Cub will be prepared to become a space that facilitates preparation of the

final speech, and open rehearsals will be held prior to the last day. The working process, then, appropriates the rules of

filibustering to try to close the doors of La Capella later than planned. There will be a reflection on this process, and a num-

ber of relationships with other concepts and different references will be presented, such as filibuster speeches delivered

throughout history, the literature and modus operandi of Michel de Montaigne, drift, horror vacui and blind text, among

others.
