1. Overview of Unique Transmission (India) Pvt. Ltd.

We proudly claim to have played a pioneering role in bringing to Indian industry such indigenously made couplings as non-lubricating all metallic flexible couplings, dry-fluid couplings/drives, etc.

At present we manufacture and supply the most comprehensive range of couplings and other mechanical power transmission devices available from a single source in the country.

Unique Transmission (India) Private Limited was originally a partnership firm known as Relay Corporation, which came into existence in 1949. The company is privately owned by the Jain family.

In the early 60's Relay Corporation was mainly dealing in industrial and agricultural pumping sets. It was at this time that we made some tyre type flexible couplings to be used with our own

pumping sets. These were the very first such couplings made in the country. Influenced by the extremely favourable response of users to these couplings, we gradually switched over to manufacture of tyre type flexible couplings from around the mid-60's. These tyre type couplings under "UNIQUE" Brand are still the most widely use flexible couplings in India.

During the course of the last two decades a large variety of flexible couplings and accessories in different designs and sizes have been added to the manufacturing range.

We proudly claim to have played a pioneering role in bringing to Indian industry such indigenously made couplings as non- lubricating all metallic flexible couplings, dry-fluid couplings/drives, etc. At present we manufacture and supply the most comprehensive range of couplings and other mechanical power transmission devices available from a single source in the country. We also export to clients globally in more than 20 countries, including, Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, North America and South East Asia. Our client list includes several Fortune 500 clients and all major industrial companies in India. We are an ISO 9001 certified company.

Annex 1

Cardan Shaft Couplings

UNIQUE Flexible Cardan Shafts are suitable for connecting equipment which, are far apart and/or substantially off-set from each other. Typical applications include all types of rolling mills, vertical pumps, cooling towers etc. The standard range covers continuous torque rating upto 2540 Kg. M.

Annex 2

Double Diaphragm Couplings

Unique Double Diaphragm Couplings use highly flexible Diaphragms. These consist of Rubber reinforced with Nylon Chords. Further at inner and outer bolting PCD Steel ring reinforcements are used. Torque ratings are determined after extensive tests and have large service factor against rupture. Rupture torque is typically 6 to 10 times rated torque. At nominal torque torsional angle is large - typically 10 to 15 degrees. Torsional Stiffness is low. This results in low critical speeds , usually below operating speed. Further torsional stiffness varies with load. At lower loads stiffness is lower. The Feature allows operation at wide range of speeds Favourable damping charactistics ensure vibration amplitude are limited at resonance. Design Series - Series 1000 , Series 1100 are for Direct Flywheel mounting. Series 1750 are for shaft to shaft connection. Series IP are suitable for diesel drives in association with cardan shaft - highly popular for Diesel driven vertical Turbine Fire Pumps.

Selection

1. First selection is based on nominal torque , Max bore , Max speed , end fitment. 2. Next for Diesel / Compressor drives in particular - TV analysis is performed to check that

vibratory torques are within acceptable limits in operating speed range. If necessary several sizes are tested - to obtain best match

3. Unique" would be glad to perform TV analysis on request. For this normally we would require Mass elastic data , Torque - Crank angle data ( for compressors)

Note:

Many alternative custom made designs can be offered to suit specific requirements. Torsional

stiffness may vary + - 20 % of catalogue figures.

Flexilink Couplings

Flexilink coupling is used to connect shaft to shaft or flange depending on its type. Its unique feature is that it can be removed in situ without disturbing connecting machines.

Annex 6

Floating Shaft Couplings

Metaflex Floating Shafts are ideally suitable for connecting machines relatively far apart . Typical uses are Paper Machinery Drive , Vertical Pump Drive, etc.

Shafts are available in fixed Length as well as adjustable Lengths with Shrink Disc/ Splines. Hollow tubes are used to fabricate shafts. Shafts are light weight and require very little maintenance. Lubrication is required only for intermediate bearings.

Tube Size is selected to ensure operation well away from critical whirling speed.

Gear Couplings

Unique gear couplings is a range to cater for torque ratings upto 114000 nm with triple crowning on gear teeth provide a most reliable and economic solution to many drive requirements. Superior sealing and higher bore capacities are features of these couplings, also available in spacer design, floating drive shafts with solid or light weight tubular intermediate shafts and with shifter arrangement for manual disengagement of drive, piloting on tooth ensures greater concentricity/better dynamic balance.

Metaflex Couplings

Metaflex Flexible Laminated Disc (Diaphragm/Membrane) Couplings are latest generation

Couplings. Disc Packs of Series 80 range are unitized and are specially shaped to give

flexibility & pure tensile loads for transmission of torque.

The Unitised design of disc packs permits easy assembly/disassembly without having to deal with large number of separate discs and washers.

The couplings can be supplied to meet API 610 /API 671 requirements. Various special designs are available to suit varied needs.

Tyre Couplings

First introduced in the country in late 6qs-now available in a vast range of sizes for nominal torque ratings upto 145000 nm, also available in flange mounting design for direct attachment to flywheels of all well known makes in models of diesel engines and in spacer design.
