Activity: Farm animals and their voices

Age Group: Grundstufe 1

Curriculum area: Wiedergeben einfacher Sätze.Aufbau des Grundwortschatzes.Sätze werden ausreichend wiederholt.Schulung des Hörens und Hörverstehens.

Teaching aims:Pupils should be able to say a correct sentence.Pupils should know the words for the animals.Pupils should find the correct voice for the animals.

Teacher´s language points:Please form a circle. Here are pictures of animals. You can ask: What does the cat say? And so we have to answer meow, meow. Or you ask: What does the dog say? …Then someone is allowed to begin and throw the small ball to another pupil. Now he/she asks a question, the other should answer him/her and it´s his/her turn.

Children´s language points:What does the cat say? Meow, meow.What does the dog say? Bow, wow.What does the donkey say? Ea, aw.What does the crew say? Caw, caw.What does the farmer say? Shoo, shoo.What does the cow say? Moo, moo.

Method:The children and the teacher form a circle. The first step will be, that the teacher shows the pupils pictures of the animals and names them. Then he/she could ask the questions. Then all children repeat the question and give the answer. Now the teacher throws a small ball to one child and asks for example: what does the donkey say? The child should answer and ask the next question.Variation: You play with two or three balls at the same time!

Material:You need small balls and picture cards with the animals.
