Animals
What is a pet?• A domestic or tamed
animal.
• Kept as a companion.
• Treated with love and care.
• For example: dog, cat, budgie…..
• Have you got any pets?
What is a wild animal?• A non- domesticated and
untamed animal.
• They don’t live with humans.
• Can be very dangerous.
• For example: Lions Monkeys Crocodiles
What is an endangered animal?• Animals at risk of becoming
extinct.
• Few numbers of the species left in the wild.
• Some are kept in Zoos.
• For example: Giant Panda Siberian Tiger African Elephant
Zoos• Parks or gardens.
• A place where wild animals live in captivity.
• Animals are put on display for people to view.
• What is your opinion of zoos?
What is animal cruelty?• Also called animal abuse or
neglect.
• Inflicting suffering or harm on animals.
• For example: - Beating -Starving
- Abandoning - Dog fighting - Cock fighting
What can we do to stop animal cruelty?• Don’t get pet unless you want
one and physically able to care for it.
• There are many organisations that help.
• For example: ISPCA (Ireland) Animal shelters
• What organisations have you got in Spain?
The Reptile Village - Gowran• The zoo has 120 animals.
• It has 50 different species.
• For example: -Alligators ( Cc and Battle)
- Pythons ( Sunny) - Tortoises (Michael and
Michelle)
Visiting the Reptile Zoo• You can see all the
different reptiles.
• You have a chance to hold the different animals that they have.
• When I visited I got to hold a Burmese Python called Stevie.
