WHO ARE WE? Marine Life is an accredited public aquarium that is home to more than 100 species of fish, sharks, sea turtles, penguins, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates — and at Sea Lions’ Rock, home to four California sea lions that perform daily. WEM participates in the Species Survival Plan to help ensure the survival of African Penguins through breeding management. WEM is also an accredited member of the Canadian Accredited Zoos and Aquariums (CAZA), which is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). West Edmonton Mall is also a member of the National Marine Educators Association (NMEA).
