Five biographical facts• Angelina was born in 1880 in Boston. She was one of the writers
during the pre-Harlem renaissance.
• Her parents were Sarah Stanley Grimke, and Archibald Grimke. Her mother Sarah was a writer also. Angelina’s father was African American, and Angelina's grandparents didn’t approve of him.
• Although Angelina was a poet, she was also a play writer during the pre-Harlem renaissance also.
• Angelina attended Harvard University.• After Angelina’s fathers death she moved to Washington D.C. to
write in a new environment.

Three Accomplishments
• When Angelina wrote about slavery in her diary it was later published in the newspaper by William Lloyd Garrison.
• When Angelina and her sister Sarah moved to New York they were the first women to lecture on Anti slavery Society.
• Angelina and Sarah Grimke broke the barriers of the right for women to speak in public.

• When Angelina and her sister were held as slaves, and saw how slaves were treated on their plantation, this made them the abolitionists that they are known for today.
