ARTIST STATEMENT

My vision o visual art lies in attention and intention.  As an artist I appreciate and strive to convey the details.  I nd

inspiration, beauty and lie in those details.  From the stamen o a ower to the way a dancer perorms a pirouette, I notice

the little things.  My eye is naturally trained to see the tiny beads o dew on the ower or the powder on the dancer’s eet.

And or that very reason I eel the need to produce art in all orms.  My choice o medium varies based upon each project

but I generally start with my setchboo and my trusty blac warrior number two pencil.  Initially I close my eyes andimagine what I want to convey.  Loosely I let my hand setch to nd my shape.  As the shape becomes more dened I will

start the arduous tas o nding my details.  It could be the reection in a mirror or a ey pose in an animation.  It all startswith that pencil and paper.  As orms and details appear, I ocus on my intention.  What am I tr ying to say?  What story am

I trying to tell?  Who am I trying to spea to?  With that intention I transer my drawings into various media, ranging rom

Maya, Adobe Illustrator, Final Cut Pro to an empty canvas.  I don’t want to limit mysel to one ar t orm.  Art is continuallychanging and transorming itsel.  In order to eep up I stic to my attention to details, my intention to create and my desire

to learn new ways to convey them.

PROJECT:  Word Meaning in Design

PROGRAMS USED: Adobe Illustrator

ASSIGNMENT

This  project was designed around matching the typography o words

to their actual meanings.  When considering “disconnect” I used

tracing and leading to create a separation efect.  For “elimination”I merged the i’s into the m and the n.  I also chose to mae the last i

grey to urther the notion o elimination.  “Disruption” was meant to

be read abruptly.  Since we read rom let to right my thought was thatthe word would be harder to read and thereore more disrupted.
